I went to bed at 11 last night and missed this by a mere 25 minutes, damn. Epic overnight thread, closing in on 100 pages, wow.

Loved it too. And to give so much stage time to indies was a great move from Sony. Better than sporting a tshirt of Rime and call it a day.

Ain't that the truth.

Out of all this, how quickly Sony jumped in to say it's not cancelled gave me even more hope that it will be at E3 this year.

So if a niche game gets cancelled it's a story now?

i've always wondered, are you the real Tom Penny? the mysterious skateboarder pro back in the day who went away and no one really knew why.

you could be. you stopped skateboarding to play videogames, didn't you? was the pressure getting to you, being in the spotlight as one of the greatest skateboarders of all time?

Looking at the orginal article title. Even if they believed their insider source was correct why would they then say "The Last Guardian OFFICIALLY Cancelled" official means Sony proper puts out a press release.

They would have saved themselves so much trouble by just saying, RUMOUR: The Last Guardian Cancelled. And they would have gotten probably just as many clicks.

When I went to bed the Russian article had just been cited by someone who tried making a thread, but the thread got locked. Little did I know that it would blow up like this lol....

People beg for bans anytime a website crosses them these days. If people actually got their way there would be no websites to post here.

Yup. The problem with the request is it becomes hypocritical by next week. For example, Every time Polygon says something ridiculous and people want them banned, in the next hour/day/week or so, a thread goes up with Polygon as the source and full detail of a report, we know we aren't going to take seriously, quoted within the thread. It makes no sense to me. If you want them banned, then stop quoting them and uttering their name here. Don't make threads sourced [IGN]. Obvious exception here.

But to each their own. I'm not down with them being banned but I can respectively ignore their opinion pieces they call "news".

I thought it was first shown last year? As far as TLG goes I do think Sony should be giving us a better update than they are waiting for the right time to announce anything. With this latest update from Rhodes and laughing about its cancellation means if they don't show anything again at E3 this latest rumor from IGN will again keep coming up.

What. FFv13 = FF15 lul. Its been nearly 10 years since it was announced.

Is it so hard to understand that the previous two outings of the developers of this game are in the conversation for the best games of all time. Consistently.

Hell, that's the only reason I'm hyped.

All needed information is within the the OP and second post. Did you get that far?
I've seen the tweet by the Sony guy when it first came up.
I'm talking about IGN specifically.

They now will wait for Sony conference. If the game is revealed they'll throw their source under the bus. If the game doesn't shows they'll double down.
Thank you, that's all I needed to know.

IGN says tons of dumb shit, jumps to conclusions, only cares for clicks and never takes responsibility for their stupidity. What's new?

I love how even after a Sony employee jumps right in and says it's not cancelled (and that he laughed at the rumor), IGN STILL won't take the article down. Why not just apologize for writing an article on a rumor?

Man this thread is moving faster then development of the last guardian. Wait.....that didn't make sense.

Not sure if mentioned, but the IGN article never said "officially" did it?

Seems like it was only on the twitter account, which I assume gets written up by some student? He/she must have got excited and just thought it was "official". Very amateur mistake.

No, the original title said officially. IGN has gone through and edited the title after the Rhodes comment on Twitter.

If TLG comes out, project beast comes out, X comes out, and by divine intervention, FFIV comes out, will it be safe to say we are in midst of a Japanese games renaissance?
No one ever counts Nintendo's games, so X doesn't matter in the 'in Japan relevant' debate, TLG is a one off, because that team are incredibly slow. Dark Souls is already a big deal, so Beast Souls won't change that. FFXV isn't coming in the next year, nor will KH3.

Japananissance isn't happening.

Again, why doesn't IGN at least apologize for the blunder and try and salvage some credibility and integrity, if they aren't going to pull the article?

50+ pages thread on neogaf linking to the article. That click bait. That advertising money.

because unlike everyone in this thread they weren't working 24 hours a day on a weekend to try to sort this mess out.
