Eiji Aonuma: “No one explicitly said that that was Link.”

Yeah, the boobs may be debatable, but this Link DEFINITELY has hips. It's a female character.

But I don't think it's Zelda.

I really would rather it be a female version of the Hero of Time.

And, if so, I would LOVE for her to still be on a quest to save Zelda. <3<3<3

Come on, Nintendo. Prove how subversive you can be!

Regardless of who the character is, it looks more like the Link in that picture than it looks like Zelda, it has the same exact hair as Link, and things like ear shapes and eye colors are minor changes which vary from Zelda game to Zelda game to begin with. Plus the eye color of Link and Zelda in those picture are extremely close to begin with.

I really don't see how those image are suppose to make a point that it's Zelda.

Uhh it does not have the exact same hero FYI.

It's brown and is in a ponytail.

The problem it being link is that Nintendo would never show link with his iconic gear .

My personal theory is that this kid is young Error (he dyes his hair) and his adventures before Zelda II.

What hips? How are Link's hips any different from like his SS version?

Are you people for real? seriously? lmao. Every stinking time we start a new zelda game link is always dressed like a little sissy in the begining to EVENTUALY get his green tunic, sword and shield.
Same crap here, thats probly the begining of the game when link is just a normal lil twat strolling arround on his horse, only to eventualy learn something nasty has risen up, making him then suit up in his traditional clothes, just LIKE every other stinking zelda game.

Yeah but the character isn't using it. The sword is always Links go to weapon.

So we have:

- A different horse with a black mane rather than white

- Right handed while Link is left handed

- Feminine features

- No confirmation on it being Link

All signs are pointing to this being a female character.
You mean all but one of your signs are pointing to this being a different character, not necessarily female.

I thought it was female at first, but after the trailer concluded and nothing relevant was said I just brushed it aside. I can't even say for sure what gender I think this character is. It could go either way.

Really wish we could have seen a lot more.

Hey, you guys remember Marth?

Remember where Marth came from?
Remember how there was weird technology in the Zelda trailer like the robot or the arrows?
Remember how in Wind Waker intro they said that the Hero never showed up?

REMEMBER?

They have never revealed a zelda where link is not wearing his gear.

Hm.

Quick Question:

If this character turned out to be a playable male Zelda, would you be happy?

It'd be playing as Zelda...but as a male.

It would be interesting if it were a female lead saving Zelda but I'm still kind of hoping for Zelda as lead instead.

Link was right handed in Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess Wii also. If anything that just means motion controls are more likely.

Eh. Link is traditionally Left-handed.

Maybe it's the angle, but in that picture Link's hips are DEFINITELY wider than the shoulders. That is an overwhelmingly female trait.

SS's hips are very narrow in comparison, so I'm not sure why you used that pic as an example.

1. You only described like.... two Zelda games. Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. With the horse, specifically only Twilight Princess. The rest he starts in his clothes, and pretty much just starts on the quest (I forget if he starts in his tunic in Skyward Sword, but I'm pretty sure he does)

2. That's not Epona in the trailer, so it's not his horse. And I'm positive Aonuma's idea of "shaking up the franchise" isn't "His horse looks different"

UGH. Just to lay the argument to rest, Link had a pony-tail in the Oot Manga.

Guys wear ponytails sometimes, get over trying to use it as proof.

..however, I still think it's a chick. :3 Just not cuz of the hair.

During the direct, they kept talking about how important it was for them to make experiences that proved the worth of the gamepad. There's no way they're going to forgoe using the gamepad in one of their biggest franchises for motion controls (also, not every WiiU owner necessarily has a Wii controller and nunchuck).

I was thinking that about the boobs as well, but it makes sense. If they want this to be a secret, then they would leave them out of the model used in the reveal trailer and provide more details once hype has reached sufficient levels.

The front of the hair looks the exact same as Link in SS, and Link hair in SS was browinish (more so than Zelda anyway).

I do agree that it's not the same exact Hero, I'm just arguing that it looks more like Link than Zelda.

Could very well turn out to be Zelda or a female-link or something, but if we're going to make comparisons with characters from previous characters, the model is closer to the last few Links than it is to Zelda.

The blue and white is kinda reminiscent of Sheik.
Whoever it is, their definitely feminine looking. I know Link's always been pretty androgynous but this character definitely looks female.

I'd probably say it's Zelda.

The Gerudo arm pieces doesn't mean said person is Gerudo. Link has worn Goron, Kokiri, Zora etc. stuff. What I think this means is that these gauntlets ARE Gerudo Gauntlets which doesn't mean said person is Gerudo (doesn't have the red hair and dark skin) but that the Gerudo are in this game and you purchase/acquire them there. I'm betting they help improve strength or bow accuracy.

I just want the Gerudo back dangit!
