Can you comment on whether or not Halo 3's "kill two players with a Spartan Laser, do your taxes, plan a wedding, invent perpetual motion and patent cold fusion in Ranked FFA" achievements are getting modified, or at least broadened to be achievable in general multiplayer?

Yes, please no MP that require people to boost or play the game in a very specific way. Kills the flow of the match. Have achievements that can be earned naturally.

So that means Containment right? RIGHT!!! sigh

I don't care if they remade it in Halo 3. I'd still like a new new version.

They didn't remake containment in 3, that was sidewinder. I would really like that to be one of the remade maps. I hope to fucking god Blood Gultch isn't one; I've had enough of that shit.

I was just wondering. I could have sworn Battlefield 4 did it. I don't know because I didn't get BF4 on the 360.

As far as I'm aware, certain achievements like the level ones, wins, weapon kills etc unlocked since that's all stored on Battlelog, with Bungie.net long gone, and Halo 2/CE not having any tracking for achievements, It's no chance I believe.

My mistake, but I still want containment; it was a great BTB map. :)

They won't remake Blood Gulch.

Coagulation, on the other hand...

Yup. I'm betting on a Coagulation remake since it is the epitome of the classic Halo map. Personally I'm not a big fan. Too open with an overemphasis on vehicles. The sniper is OP and people will argue and kill their teammates for it because there's only one that spawns each couple minutes.

Nope but there are new and modified ones so it won't be an identical slog.

If I just want to play Halo 3 MP, is that a possibility or do the maps from Halo 1, 2 and 3 all appear in the playlists and players are at the mercy of the voting system?

Now that I think about it, join in progress would mess with a true ranking system. Which has been hinted at being what is in this.
Yeah can you imagine destroying a team to the point that half their team quits, only to be replaced and then you end up losing and ranking down, or joining a losing team half way through and ranking down. Fuck that shit. Have it in social playlists, but keep it far far away from ranked.

At first I was glad, as every Halo fan out there. But then I realised this collection doesn't contain the re-mastered versions of Halo 3 and 4, only 2. Even though Halo 4 looks very very good I would still like both that game and the third to get the remastered treatment. Because they will release all Master Chief games as a collection it feels like we won't get a remastered version of 3 or 4 in the future. That sucks

Halo 4 came out a year and a half ago. Really? I think for that one it's definitely okay to scaling it up to 1080p at 60fps.

As for Halo 3, I guess it will be the worse looking game in the set, with 1a, 2a, and 4 all being release later than it. But scaled up 1080/60 it will be fine. I wouldn't mind it if they wanted to apply some sort of HD texture pack, though. That would be cool, but I'm fine without it.

Frank, any word on a limited edition? I'm holding off pre-ordering for now.

What I want to know is if there will be any special edition bundles.

Damn it, still need to replace my 360, but I guess I'll be buying an Xbone this year after all. Nice to see all the content under one unified multiplayer suite, it's something I had wanted since Halo 3 was announced.

One thing that concerns me is that with all this content, I sure hope the population is healthy enough to support it all. Halo 2 was huge at the time because it was the only game in town on a console. Halo 4 MP only got better with updates, but there aren't enough players to properly support the matchmaking system in place. People have been saying Halo 2A would bring the population back for years, but I have my doubts.

Still, very nice to have it all under one roof.

I don't get why people are excited for this. Haven't we all played enough goddamn Halo in the past two generations? An upgraded port of four oldass games shouldn't even be worth announcing at an E3 press conference and yet here we are.

Apparently not. Halo is after all Halo, it's like a phenomenon or something.

Well. Seeing as practically everyone in this thread is excited and rightfully so wants more goddamn Halo, its not an issue.

If it is an issue for you, why not piss the fuck right off this thread? or better yet make a "Why i dont want to play halo." thread and get others who share your opinion to join an actually related point

You just don't get it man... You don't understand...

Halo 2 and 3 are two of the best arena MP shooters of all time! They are basically the definition of console competitive play.

Getting these back with better online infrastructure, enhanced frame rate and visuals is a fucking god send.

So much effort and love is being poured into this collection, it's astounding!

And hopefully Halo 5 will follow in their footsteps.

Well why are you in this fucking thread then?. Seriously if this kind of 'drive by trolling' meant an instant ban, this forum would be a lot better for it imo.

I hope there is an achievement for starting Halo 1 and playing all the way to the end of Halo 4 in a single sitting on LASO

With the iron skull if you die it resets you to the beginning of the level... With this achievement it resets you all the way back to the first level of Halo CE

Lol

Yet it's the only reason for me to purchase an Xbox at this point, save for Halo 5.

I can't believe how hyped I am for this. I got a PS4 and XB1, played through all halos many many times, played a shitton of mp and this is easily my most anticipated game this year.

Hey... you're right. Alright, pack it up everybody. Go on, skidaddle. Nothing to be excited about here.

This isn't a goddamn OT and this forum wasn't built on a foundation of every thread being a circlejerk over its subject matter.

There won't be join in progress but to keep things even if someone quits it nukes the best player off the other team and the guy that quits has to start the next match with only fists off of spawn, his rank is also reset to -50 and has to work his way back up to 1 to start over.

I played the shit out of them, especially 3, so I'd like to think I do "understand". I just don't see it though. Framerate was rarely a problem for the Halo series and while the visuals have usually not been mindblowing, they were serviceable. Online infrastructure have always been pretty good AFAIK.

Sure, Halo (along with CoD) have effectively the best mechanics in the shooter genre but this really doesn't bring anything much to the table except for compiling four old games and making them conveniently accessible on a new console. Why are people so easily excited?

Whatever it takes to prevent habitual quitting. afk'ing, and purposeful DC'ing, I fully support it. I'd rather stick out bad games with bad players on a semi-regular basis over dealing with quitters and poor losers every single match. Matchmaking becomes a cesspool the moment that happens. One person quits and it's a license/excuse for everyone.

I'd also like player's stats to show for games they left prematurely and for those stats to still count against them. In fact, if there is a way to ensure that quitters retain stats and losses for quit games, that would be helpful.

Really, short term bans aren't a bad idea either. 5 to 10 minute ban for every quit match. People who legitimately need to quit out of a game probably won't be back in 5 to 10 minutes anyway, and can accept the delay for ditching their team, regardless of how important the excuse. Do it every single time. 1 quit - 5 minute ban that increases by 5 minute increments for every successive quit. Quitting is not going to be fun if you have to wait longer and longer for each new ban to wear off.

Remember how much fun you had playing CE MP online? No? Why not?
