Goddamit, seems like everyday now there's a new Xbox One game released.

I don't know if it's good or bad. While I find it great that I have a ton of choices, it seems those games are left out to die in the wild because of no advertising at all.

Outlast, zombie driver, sixty second shooter, out of this world, what else in one week??

Agreed. It's weird, inde games pop out without any warning by Microsoft or the developers themselves. They should definitely do something to give them more visibility.

alot of the games releasing are already on ps4 or pc, they are just coming to xbox one to get some more sales. if they already put time advertising on ps4 and pc, why bother on xbox? especially when some of them are super cheap on pc, free on ps4 and 2 or 3 times more expensive on the xbox. Release, get cash and run.

Contrast is coming out on Thursday.

Because they could sell better if they were promoted a bit more. I find it weird that games like Another World and others go on the PS Blog and announce a date but on XB1/Xbox Wire they don't, MS need to fix that.

Releasing games with no notice at all is just crazy to me as well

Indie devs have been clamoring for a more open platform to publish on and now they have it. However, that comes at a cost. With 360, a dev (well, technically only pubs) had a set date and time slot each week where they knew their game would have visibility (basically all games were auto-advertised every week by knowing new games would be out on Wednesday). Now it's the Wild West which leaves in up to the dev to figure out how to handle the marketing & advertising, something a small team of programmers/designers probably don't have a lot of experience in.

Sure, but that doesn't mean MS can't help by giving them decent spaces on the store and on things like Xbox Wire. Theres been no posts on Xbox Wire since 9.30am yesterday, I don't think its that difficult get something written up about a game and embed a trailer thats already made which to be fair for some titles they have done, which is good.

Its in Microsofts interest to get these games selling too, considering its getting people to spend money on their store even if its not directly their job to do it.

and 3DS actually. although it's not in 3D. I just played through it.

I'm sure that's a joke, but just incase... no. This game doesn't need texture filtering of any kind.

haha yeah, it's a joke. Although I wouldn't know if this game needed AF or not. I imagine that it wouldn't need because it has 2D static backgrounds?

Exactly. At least put something up on Xbox Wire.
Forgot about Valiant Hearts and RBI... 8 games in one week? That's awesome/harsh.
Did my part buying Outlast, 60 Seconds Shooter, Valiant Hearts and Out of This World.

Saw RBI streaming yesterday and found it awful. Am I wrong?

How was Outlast? Worth it?

This could cause issue down the line as it could be construed as MS playing favorites. MS's job is to make a store front that highlights new releases and hot titles in a general way. I don't think they have gotten there yet. This will be especially true as the indie flood gates continue to open.

Totally. I somehow missed it when it was free on PS4 but always seemed like my kind of horror game. I didn't even know it hast hitting the Xbox next.

It runs well (constant 60 fps), looks suficiently good and has a very scary ambientation. I like the way it makes you hide instead of shooting stuff. Sound design is excellent.

Story seems serviceble from the texts you find scattered alongside the asylum. Heard that the DLC adds another layer to the script. Can't wait to finish the main story and head for that next.

Overall, a great purchase. I'm sure I won't be coming back after I finish it, but that doesn't really matter.

Appreciate the summary. Thank you!

At least they were sensible with the pricing. I don't think it would be worth more than that. I'm sure I bought it for like $2 during the last steam sale.

The brand needs a solid, popular blog that highlights and markets the small releases. They are just dropping them out randomly and with no warning.

Supposedly this should be Major Nelson's job, but he's been truly awful at it. The comparative advantage of releasing on consoles is getting a boost from the platform holder that can help you out. Just dumping games without warning on the service is not the best thing to do, IMO.

Is there any reason to buy this on PS4 (assuming it's the same as the XBO version) over the PC version which is $2.50 on Steam right now?

It's cross buy with Vita, if that's relevant to you. Playing on Vita's gonna be awesome so definitely a deal sealer for me.

More classic side scrollers on Vita please.

Only if you want a portable version, I guess.

Oh, I guess the console versions also downsample from 4K, and I'm not sure the PC one does so out of the "box" (although you can obviously make it happen).

It seems like a good bit of old school fun. I'm personally waiting for the online multiplayer update coming out in July.

Oh man, I remember renting this game on the SNES and absolutely hating it at the time. I could never figure out how to progress past, like, minute two of the game.

Maybe I'll give it another go.

just saw this in the warawara plaza last night. Any impressions on it? I had no idea this was even being made.

..but cry so much I wish I had some
Just finished it with 1000 achievement points in less than an hour, but I had already played it a long time ago so there wasn't anything new for me to see.

For first timers I'd say go for it, will definitely take you a little bit more time than it took me to finish the game as you'll need to figure it out. It's a classic game, never gets old!

All of the market place releases are on Majornelson.com (including descriptions and links to buy from the webstore) and every game gets screen time in the store on the console. Xbox Wire isn't really the right site for that info since they do mostly PR news-type stories (really, majornelson isn't a great source either) but the info is out there.

everything else is made up of untextured polygons. so there's no textures to need to filter anisotropically or otherwise.
