Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords developer Obsidian has admitted the company still regularly discusses ideas for a third entry in the franchise, with plenty of staff members interested in creating a follow-up.

Speaking to IGN about the upcoming Pillars of Eternity, project director Josh Sawyer and lead producer Brandon Adler explained Obsidian remains full of Star Wars fans, many of whom often hash out ideas for KOTOR 3.

Lock if that's actually a moon.

KOTO3 would be great. The Old Republic is truly the best time period in SW. Too bad they announced everything non-canon though. :(

But there's already a KOTOR 3... and 4, 5, 6 and 7. It's SWTOR. Right?... right?

That was just Bioware's bullshit way of tagging that piece of crap with the brand of a much, much better game to give the fans some bait to bite onto.

Obsidian you MINGE TEASING BASTARDS

Is there any precedent for EA letting a studio they don't own make a game that they have the licence for? I'm sure there probably is but nothing comes to mind.

The hell with that, just make an original sci-fi world after PoE.

You wanna get cut?

The time period is so removed from everything else that it doesn't really matter whether it's considered canon or not.

if he talks about books, you better damn well listen
Obsidian's talents would be wasted on KOTOR 3. There are many much more interesting projects they could be working on instead--even licensed ones.

I'm not sure they could do their true KOTOR3, since TOR kind of blew apart the plans they were laying at the end of KOTOR 2.

Exactly, which is why I can't understand why they declared that ALL of the EU was non-canon. That's what pissed me off the most. I can't see there being any ancient Republic material in Ep VII

No reason it couldn't take place after TOR or somewhere in the 300 years inbetween Kotor 2 and TOR. Also it could just be a more personal story without wider galactic implications. Tho I suppose we will never know what their plans really were.

Might as well name it something else since KOTOR ain't canon anymore.... just when I start to get into this sort of stuff.

Unless Disney is secretly awesome and the EU is still continuing.

I wish Obsidian would make a new 3d rpg IP, I actually liked Alpha Protocol. Although it had a lot of problems with the actual game, story, and glitches.

Also Disney/Lucasarts has nuked the old EU, so getting new Old Republic stuff is probably not that likely anymore.

Also since the mechanics/ruleset used by the KotOR games are outdated twice over by two better SW rules systems, it'd just be better to just do an entirely new Star Wars thing than try and go back.

I turned that into a question just so I could ask you if it was a serious one....

They should just get hired to make a isomatric cRPG Fallout spin off for Bethesda :D

Kotor is dead after swtor and now with Disney control over it, who knows what limitation there would be.

I don't know how to feel about Obsidian; they're so hit or miss. When they have a template and just need to add on to it, their games come out great (KOTOR 2, New Vegas) but then fuck up when they try to make a RPG from scratch (South Park, Alpha Protocol).

If the multiverse theory is correct, somewhere out there in the vast, infinite possibilities of the cosmic landscape, there may be a reality much like this one in all aspects save one: this thread is entitled "We are making KOTOR 3" - Obsidian

In my veins. please. And make it MS-exclusive ;)

How about no.

Also, Obsidian-developed KOTOR3 on something like Unreal 4 could be motherfuckingly fantastic and I would be there day 1. KOTOR 2 is still the best SW game ever made.

Please Disney, make it happen. I would love a KOTOR 3 - still my favourite 2 Star Wars games ever made.

South Park was a fuck up? Completely disagree.

Just when I start to get over it.

I'm just coming off the high of my latest TSLRCM playthrough, and it hurts so, so much to know that Obsidian could make an incredible follow-up. Knowing that there are employees in the studio that discuss it at least twice a year makes me even more depressed.

Dungeon Siege III shits all over your theory.
