Credits to Spikain for finding this on PEGI's website.

So PEGI has a listing for Golden Sun: The Lost Age. I guess we can expect this to come to the Wii U VC soon. Apparently it was released on the Japanese eShop this week.

No big surprises here as they already released the first game on the Wii U, but I'm glad it's coming anyways!

Good! Hopefully soon!

I just beat Crossbone island and then completed the game. I miss good Golden Sun and was surprised to find that I poured about 22 hours in to my replay of the first on VC.

Thanks, can't post threads yet :)

I wish they'd let us link the two games to send over data. Yeah, I know, it's Nintendo. Let me prepare a pen and a large piece of paper.

At least it far easier to take screenshots these days for the password (take pics with a camera, manual focus).

Wonder if they will forget the FIGS translation again. Would be a typical VC blunder to remember it here and potentially render FIGS users with a useless password (as GS1 is English only on Wii U VC because forgot the FIGS versions existed or couldn't be bothered to test because they are separate ROMs).

Did the originals allow this? I never played past the first game before.

I'm guessing not, if you're implying using passwords.

I'd really like to have the Golden Sun games on my 3DS. Its too bad that a giant mechanical dragon wizard king cast a spell on the 3DS preventing it from playing GBA games outside of the Ambassador program.

Great game though. Can you transfer data from VC games or would you have to enter the code again for something like this?

The original games let you link them together to send your crew, inventory, sidequest accomplishments and djinns from the first to the second game if you had two gba and a link cable.

...or you could enter the longest password known to man (if you wanted to transfer everything). You could also just say "screw it" and only do a partial transfer with a much smaller password, but...I never could bring myself to miss out on so much.

Also, there are password generators online to get exactly what you want, including impossible stuff like multiple copies of the most powerful weapons. Good times.

Yeah. I'm sure you've heard the story: it was meant to be one game but it was too big for the GBA cartridge so they had to divide it into two parts.

I did'nt know.

I like that the game offer puzzles and that some spell help you on the map not just in combat. That's what is lacking in almost every rpg like Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest.

One of my all time favorites. It holds up pretty well too.

Blows the first one out of the water, in my opinion. I consider them one big game, though.

I want to buy the first Golden Sun to finish again on Wii U, but I don't have the time to do it. And now this :(

I finished the first one a few weeks ago. I was so disappointed that the story hadn't finished, but at least it seems Lost Age is close!

I still don't understand the rationale of handheld VC games not on their fucking handheld system. But Nintendo's gonna Nintendo
Fucking stop being another person saying the same damn thing in every one of these threads and read the comments for why once in a while, trust me, the answer is in every one of these threads.

This is not a real answer. Is it a technical reason?

Can somebody please explain why Wii U gets all the really cool VC exclusives and the 3DS is left with NES scraps? It can obviously handle games like this.. Why do GBA games appear on only the Wii U VC?

Edit: ah, other people saying the same thing... guess nobody knows.

While the exact reason is unknown, it seems the 3DS has difficulty emulating SNES and GBA on a single core. The ambassador GBA games use the DS processor which in turn directly emulates the GBA OS and takes the ROM as if it were a cartridge. The DS processor is for offloading the game in suspended form so they can't adapt the method from that way and just doing ROM dumps like the ambassador games leaves the system very vulnerable and lacks basic features like sleep mode. And it wouldn't apply to SNES games either. Making an emulator is probably possible but it's quite likely Nintendo didn't see enough revenue to justify making one.

The answer is that Nintendo simply doesn't want to release them as they'd be working well, as evidenced by the games for early 3DS buyers.

JP VC's getting this and something else cool soon. Let me see if I can find out what. kubus, have you played both? Epic games and the second one is just as different as the first and suitably different.

Fake edit: oh, it's this past week and it's Mario vs. DK! In JP, that is.

I owned both games when I was a kid but got stuck somewhere in the first game in some sort of tree village. I didn't know about the existance of GameFAQs back then so I shelved it. Later I told my dad to sell them both for me on eBay. They were mint, boxed copies >_<. I soooo regret it now.

Since then I've bought a new boxed copy of GS1 but haven't started it yet. Now that the first one is available on Wii U and the second one coming, I think I'll play them on that. No idea when though, still have a huge backlog :p.

I really liked what I played back then, though! I must've replayed the intro about 6 times. Remember it fondly.

I don't understand why Nintendo keeps releasing handheld games for a system noone wants or has while never releasing them for the 3DS.

The soundtrack for this one is legendary. See: Jenna's Battle Theme and That Part Where You Go Inside the Idol.

Love it to death, and it's also why the one for DS was such a disappointment.

Nice! Yeah, it's funny to think of being stuck in games back in the day and having to trudge through GameFAQs, especially for a game like that. If it makes you feel better going through an FAQ for a super-detailed game like that, it was confusing enough just trying to figure out where in the FAQ you were in the game, haha.

It's also funny (and super sad!) to think of how many awesome games you had as a kid that you sold or traded in. I know I definitely did this, too, and only broke the habit not too long ago. Now I try to make it a point to hold onto games I even possibly will want to play again in the future. It's a tricky balance though because I don't like to have a lot of excess stuff, so it can be tough to figure out what I really care about having while not having more stuff than I ideally want to have.

Anyway, they're great games. I have no idea how well they hold up exactly since I haven't played them in years. I know they're very much in the traditional turn-based RPG model and have a ton of text. I remember them being a lot of fun and that they had a real sense of adventure to them. So, I'll be eager to hear how you like them when you do get to play them!

Geez some parts of 3DSGaf can be douchey.

Nintendo has 2 current consoles no matter how much that might pain you, the WiiU deserves just as much if not more attention than the 3DS does. Heck part of the reason the WiiU is in the hole it's in is because of the 3DS languishing early on.

There's literally nothing to indicate this. In fact the only real indications we have are otherwise since Bandai Namco seem to have no problem using emulated SFC games for 3DS retro-comps or pre-order bonuses.
