RUMOR: Leaked Screens of Smash 3DS Shows Character Select Screen, Stages

More than anything, this makes me really want Sakurai to hurry up and confirm Ness. Whether his portrait matches or not will make or break this!

Why are most of the stages on the stage selection screen centered while others aren't? Why is Battlefield the only stage that is shown on an angle as opposed to straight ahead? Why is Toon Link not grouped with the other clones? Why are there two spaces in between the words any and button? How can you argue that these "leaks" come from different people even though the second leak uses the same render of Ganondorf? Why are people adamantly defending every noticeable flaw with the story and pictures? Are some of you in on this? I hope Sakurai shows a Dark Pit Assist Trophy tonight.

1) Donno
2) Donno
3) Takes significantly more work than the full-on clones. Same reason why Falco and Luigi aren't there.
3) No idea
4) Easier to piggyback off the first leak, could be different contibutors, etc.
5) No one's adamantly defending it, but they are finding valid reasons for those to not be concrete proof.
6) There's two users who might be somewhat iirc.

What I'm saying is that leak 1 and leak 3 use unique versions of the same Ganondorf render. If one goes down they all go down.

We don't know if that's the same render though. Since leak 3 came out so much later, they could have just based their image on leak 1. Leak 1 is the money maker. If that is proven to not be legit, then I would say it completely debunks the others.

Somebody please explain why the random box blatantly clips the bottom half of the screen. One explanation I've heard is that the box enlarges when you hover over it, BUT THE 3DS IS A DUAL SCREENED PIECE OF HARDWARE. It clips a piece of graphic that is supposed to be on an entirely different screen.

Has anyone mentioned the fact that there's no space between the two 3DS screens in these leaks? That would only happen in screenshots, and if they have screenshots, why not leak the screenshots instead of taking a photo?

what is the 4th leak that you mentioned? also if the bowser jr thing is real I'm disappointed that they went with the clown car instead of a paint brush moveset, clown car is just plain silly(in a bad way
If that one leak is also accurate, Bowser Jr's alternate costumes are the koopa kids. So he couldn't use a paint brush.

I had no idea who that "Shulk" character was, I kept imagining some sort of female Hulk, a "She-Hulk" if you will.

Sounds about as ugly as "shmup".

Jigglypuff!!!

Best first post in a Smash Bros thread ever!!!!!

I'm also overjoyed at Jigglypuff coming back, assuming this leak is real! BELIEVE!

Though I wonder, how the hell is Bowser Jr. going to fight with the Koopa Clown Car? I mean that thing flies! that's cheap in a game where falling to your doom is a way to lose, Will he fall to his doom like the other characters when he goes down a pit?

The game is a little more than two week away. I'll just wait and see, the Brawl leak that was accurate everyone called fake at the time, but it ended up being real.

Did a quick and dirty, didn't bother skewing it but it's definitely the same portrait (the character select one has a black outline around it)

I know it came out later but it was only a few hours.

It's the video footage submitted to the ESRB for approval, leaking direct screenshots or the video itself would likely get the person who did it fired since it's much more easily traced.

This is easily the biggest unexplained oddity, imo. Everything else could be explained through strange design choices or other things, but this one just doesn't make any sense at all.

When you resize blurry images of pixelated screens, things get a little weird looking. This is really reaching for something- there are other things much more worth investigating (like the "disablad" thing)

My point is the person from the third leak could have taken Gdorf from the first leak and then filled out the rest.

Blurry, yes, but that's flat out overlapping. It's fairly crisp, too. It's definitely not the result of weird image hosting or anything.

its true the bottom portion of the random select would be cut off instead of floating over to the bottom screen even with a capture card.

Definitely doesn't make things up as he goes along.
First rule of Smash on the internet... do not believe any 'leaks.'
At the least, it's safer for your sanity haha.

I mean, I don't know one way or the other, but Nintendo releases information about this game DAILY. Literally. They let information flow like no other publisher does on this title. The odds of leaks are minimal when this happens, and it's controlled pretty much by like, one guy. People in N.A. wouldn't even know any of this stuff till last minute, and Treehouse is like an iron fortress. I doubt even the marketing teams know anything about these games other than the briefs they are given. And on top of that, does Nintendo even playtest these games? I doubt it, especially not in America.

For Brawl we had people posting the entire roster on GameFAQs around this time though.

Said leak came out only a few days though. This has a little less than a month.

It was actually around a week before Brawl. You still had stragglers like Megaman at this time back then.

No, one of the leakers posted in October and mentioned the Dragoon Parts, and Toon Link.

Wish that you knew something so you would disconfirm it in heartbeat so we can move on to something different.

Thanks tho.

Yeah, I suspect that it's fake as well.

Assuming it is real, just why, why, WHY would Dr. Mario get a character slot over Ice Climbers when he's little more than an alternate costume.

Actually, as for the playtesting thing, last year they playtested Pokemon X and Y with Digipen students, which led to quiet a big leak for that game.

The difference in time between the two leaks was a matter of a couple of hours, which strains the credibility of someone creating an identical looking model from scratch in that time.

The Ice Climbers are listed as DLC, probably because Sakurai needed extra time to get them to work properly on the 3DS. This is assuming the leak is true.

I misremembered it a bit wrong, but yeah, the ChaosZero leaks began in October...

Toon Link and R.O.B. came a bit later.

It does get playtested at Treehouse, at least.

At E3, they made mention of several different builds. In one case, someone remarked they're no good at Mario with this older build they were playing for the stream. In another instance, they talk about practicing with Pac-Man and can now finally say something about it.

I thought we'd established that the Ice Climbers thing came from commentary and speculation by some reporter, not from the actual sakurai quote, and that the quote itself was directed at transformation characters?

I actually can kind of see the Little Mac is Shulk thing, though I can appreciate if anybody else wants to state that it's reaching. I mean - it kind of is. But at the same time, it's probably the most concrete way someone doing a fake would be able to replicate the 'model style' that is employed in the Smash series.

Granted, having Shulk in the game basically confirms two mains for me. :D
