This is why I haaaaaaaate all-ages shows. Obviously when I was under 21 or under 18 I hated it, but now I appreciate it. Kids on drugs are just the lamest. Keep that shit between you and your friends when rolling face, IMO. (and that goes for all ages, but kids are usually the ones running around getting too friendly with everyone)

Agreed, there are different social standards for being in shared spaces, as opposed to your mom's basement or whatever. You can try chatting up strangers a bit, but if after a little while of that I then say "I came here to hang out with your friends", I'm not going to feel bad because you feel snubbed :p I used to make lots of friends in my early 20's when I'd go to the gay bar and drop ecstasy, there are ways of not being obnoxious, like don't get so high that you lose all sense of social propriety. But I guess for teenagers this threshold is lower.

So I finally came out to my best friend and it went great. He was really supportive (and shocked) but it just went really well. He met the guy I've been dating. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted since I don't need to hide it from him anymore.

Next up is my mom, which oddly I think will be easier.

Came out to my parents this weekend. It felt great :D

Congratulations, you two.
:D

What is everyone going as for halloween?

It's never to early to plan :p

I never usually do Halloween since I ever feel that I can pull off any characters that I'd want to go as. Going to try and make an effort this year. Especially since I'll be at university at the time so a student party (on a Friday nonetheless) will occur.

Well that and the fact that I need to be more outgoing.

I don't do halloween because it's a holiday for children and having grown people dress up like that just strikes me as sad (same way I feel about cosplay).

I thought this once, then I went to a bar on Halloween and saw some of the costume selection.

I changed my mind.

What is sad about grown people having fun? Dressing up isn't really a child exclusive thing (and it wouldn't matter if it was anyway).

I find it more sad when people say "I'm too old for [Whatever]".

I'm always too paranoid about being the victim of the being invited to a costume party that isn't actually a costume party gag.

Halloween is as much a holiday "for children" as videogames are "for children." Dressing nice is "for women." Playing sports is "for men."

Life is incredibly dull when you impose rules on yourself manufactured out of thin air. Go have some fun this year. I know I am. I'm going as Harry Potter the Jedi Guardian.

Random question but are you going to South Bank University in London #Stalker

What's weird is that I felt like this even when I was a kid. Never did halloween until last year (and that was an occupation-style get-up, so my brain wasn't as against it). Generally can't deal with costumes for anything, the whole idea makes me so uncomfortable.

These days, I can get some minor laughs from the occasional well-thought-out halloween costume, but cosplay definitely sets off those 'nope nope NOPE' alarms in my psyche. Gotta walk the long way home this year because my normal route takes me directly through where PAX is. -__-

Cosplay is something I would do if I was prettier, also if I was a girl cuz all the characters I want to cosplay are female

El_Gato you are hands down my favorite poster and I appreciate what you say. :)

Btw I came out to my sister and she was awesome about it. I am now the token gay uncle (and I am ok with that). Still need to come out to my mom...
Congrats too!! Anyone else here the Tolkien gay uncle? I will be too in a few weeks lol

Here's all the gay manga I bought in Japan (NSFW links!): part 1 and part 2.
I slightly (*ahem*) overspent there and still didn't get everything I wanted. :(
I already had a few of these books but they were so cheap (like 4 dollars, when I bought them for well over 20 dollars) that I bought extra copies just in case.

There is some great stuff in there! :)

Thank you Jason.

And Halloween is my favorite holiday of the year. I have so much fun at work when October comes around, it's great.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
That is amazing Badger.

I hope you practiced your shouting voice.

So there's this gay-themed Brazilian short called I Don't Want to Go Back Alone (youtube link) from a few years ago that was made into a feature film last year, it's about a gay blind teenager and it's really cute (the short, I didn't see the movie), do watch it if you haven't.
Anyway, the actor that plays the blind kid, Ghilherme Lobo, was recently asked if he was gay because he's a ballet dancer. He gave a non-answer about how he doesn't mind being asked that question and that only because he's a ballet dancer doesn't mean he's gay, but who cares when he has such nice thighs.
