The lead on Silicon Valley name dropped IL-2 Sturmovik during the spike awards so it looks like he fits his character pretty well.

There are some celebrities and footballers who play Football Manager. Antoine Grizemann certainly does https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adQViVH1YV4&feature=youtu.be&t=1m15s. Paul Pogba and Marvin Sordell

James Buckley (from The Inbetweeners), Jason Manford (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsSoHf0qv-w&feature=youtu.be) and singer-songwriter Paolo Nutini.

Andrea Pirlo's book shows that both him and Alessandro Nesta are big fans of FIFA and/or PES.

After the wheel, the PlayStation is the best invention of all time. And ever since it's existed, I've been Barcelona, apart from a brief spell way back at the start when I'd go Milan.

The head to heads [with room-mate Alessandro Nesta, 'Sandro'] were pure adrenaline. I'd go Barcelona and so would Sandro. Barca v Barca. The first player I'd pick was the quickest one, Samuel Eto'o, but I'd still end up losing a lot of the time. I'd get pissed off and hurl away my controller before asking Sandro for a rematch. And then I'd lose again.

It's not like I could use the excuse that his coach was better than mine: it was Pep Guardiola for him and Pep Guardiola for me. At least in terms of our manager we set out on a level footing. One day we thought about kidnapping him. The flesh and bones, real life version that is. It was August 25, 2010, and we were with Milan at the Nou Camp for the Gamper pre-season tournament. We thought better of our hostage-taking in the end. To avoid constantly falling out, we'd have needed to saw him in two when we got back to Italy, and that wouldn't have been a good idea. How the poor thing would have suffered.

From the world of British comedy, Peter Serafinowicz, Dara O'Briain and Graham Linehan play video games. Simon Pegg certainly did at one point, because he did an interview with CVG UK about computer games.http://www.computerandvideogames.com/136646/interviews/simon-pegg/

Pretty much the whole GoT children cast. I remember an interview with the actor who plays Bran and he openly admit that through the long pauses he plays videogames with the others on set. I think as an actor you have plenty of time to waste when you are on a set and wait for your go signal.

Dan Harmon (Community) seems to get into it, frequently seemingly falling down into rabbit holes of addiction and chornicling them on twitter. Shows in his work too.

I imagine Edgar Wright is given how prominent they are in his work (Spaced, Shaun of the Dead, Scott PIlgrim) though I don't know if he's ever talked much about it.

I love that Burial is a 'Souls nut, indicating he was going to put in dangerous hours into Dark Souls 2 on release. If just because my housemate, who is also an experimental audio/visual artist, is more or less exactly the same.

oh yeah, Burial is one of my favorites too

btw, that page with his message about 'Souls is still alive http://www.hyperdub.net/burial/

Hopefully by the end of most years I have done some tunes that are decent enough to release. but Dark Souls 2 is on the horizon soon so I'm not sure if I will have many new tunes for a while because I need to play that game a lot. But I'm going to try to get some new tunes together before it comes out.

Found out one of the regulars I used to play CoD4 with back in the day was Chris Moyles' cousin. We didn't really believe it at first, thought nothing of it.

Then one day out of the blue when we had a spare spot he invited him in and we played a load of rounds of headquarters with the guy.

That was pretty sweet.

Henry Cavill is a self-proclaimed PC gamer, not sure what games he plays nex to WoW though.

He nearly missed this role because he was doing a raid in WoW and off course you can't stop when your playing. And it was zack snyder who called him.

Jack Black
Vin Diesel
Elijah Wood

From the OP, Robin Williams was pretty cool as well. Cannot stand Aisha Tyler though, makes me cringe every time she says something "nerdy XD" related

That one woman from LOST who criticized the Xbox One DRM plans on twitter and got an angry message from her agent.

I think you will find alot more celebrities play Videogames than you think.

Unlimited dispoable cash, need to do something between shoots/while on tour, a general love of technology.

I think the spread would accurately reflect the spread amongst the general population. The fact is, even when you can be anywhere and do anything, sometimes all you want to do is sit in your underwear and do something normal.

The name dropping is crass yes, but you arent going to admit you have a copy of criminal girls on your Vita if you are famous.

I also like to think its good to mention this and next generation of coming celebs/athletes/artists/musicians probably grew up gaming or definitely have some knowledge of it. Sure they may not be up to date with modern games but I think it's definitely been a part of their lives in one way or another.

I've seen so many name drops lately even if it's classic games. For example:

I forget her name but that girl in 12 Years a Slave played FF8 at some point?

e: here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vok-y-CBMg

Crazy. Such a specific game to name drop :D

Liam McIntyre who took over playing Spartacus in the TV show knows his stuff. I remember an interview where he found it funny how he recognised stuff filming the series from playing Civilization.

Matthew Perry was open about how much he played Fallout 3, which led to him playing Benny in New Vegas.

Gerrit Zalm, retired Dutch politician and former minister of Finance (for 12 years), is a gamer. In an interview he said he was a fan of the Might and Magic series, so Ubisoft sent him a free copy when M&M6 was released.

love my dude Vin. one of my favorite celebrities of all time.

I have no idea why people dislike Aisha Tyler so much.

i'll give you 2 guesses...

but while all the "not a real gamer" nonsense is dumb, those comments are particularly suspect....

I had never heard of her until I saw a Ubi conference, I thought she was good.

she's great, plays a ton of video games and is absolutely hilarious on Archer.

She even has an account here, not sure if we can say the same about any of these other celebrities. So yeah, she's awesome.

Vin Diesel is the most interesting to me, because he was apparently very invested in his own game and generally seemed very knowledgable. You just wouldn't expect it from looking at the guy. I watched this Guardians Q&A yesterday and he just goes on this D&D tangent with the guy asking the question... Pretty awesome

First two that came to mind were Curt Schilling and Zachary Levi.

Given his world series victories and the bloody sock I would consider Curt to be a celebrity. We all know what happened after his baseball career.

Comedian/Actor Kumail Nanjiani from silicon valley has a video game podcast with his wife called the indoor kids.

Jimmy Fallon, not just for this though. In some random conversation he also mentioned 'have you played the new Mario Kart on Wii U?' I thought that was pretty cool, because it wasn't about videogames at all. Makes me think he knows his stuff instead of just playing along with sponsored content.

Robert Kazinsky (the Aussie son/pilot from Pacific Rim) is an avid WoW player, and he said getting to be in the Warcraft film was incredible but tough because he'd fanboy so hard at times.

He was on Game Informer's Replay for Super Castlevania. He mentioned cutting off the corners of N64 imports to make them run on his console. Back in the days when getting around region restrictions was easy. :p
