You have 4 options to buy nearly every game that comes out except Nintendo games, but not a Wii U to play 3(5) of the best games you already own?

I could list a dozen games out right now that are amazing for Wii U:
MarioKart 8
ZombiU
NSMBU + NSLU
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Zelda WW HD
Pikmin 3
Wonderful 101
New Super Mario 3D World
Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze
Rayman Legends
Scribblenauts unlimited or unmasked
Lego City Undercover
(bonus) if you have friends in real life, NintendoLand is a blast.

This doesn't touch on the eshop games like Shovel Knight.

You also seemed to have missed all the awesome Wii games, so here is another dozen for that system that you might not have played. (ignoring the 3 you own)
Sin & Punishment: Star Successor
Muramasa
Okami Wii (if you missed it on PS2)
PunchOut!!
RedSteel 2
The Last Story
Tatsunoko vs Capcom
The legend of Zelda Skyward Sword
Super Paper Mario
Zack & Wiki
No more heros 1 & 2
Trauma Team
(bonus) A boy and his blob

I could easily add another 2 dozen to that list... I didn't even mention Little Kings Story or the Wiiware shop there...

VC is also pretty great on Wii U and there is NES Remix if you love the challenge of old school games.

Lastly, Hyrule Warriors comes out in 2 weeks, Bayonetta 1& 2 is next month and Smash comes out within a few months. With all the games announced next year, there is more of a reason to own Wii U than owning BOTH XB1 and PS4. (Certainly the argument can be made to own 1 or the other over Wii U, but I don't think I could realistically agree that owning both with largely the same library is worth owning over Wii U, especially if you've never touched those Wii games)

Don't think I've really played any outside of Mario Kart at Mana Bar (Yahtzee's gaming bar).

Hrmm I'm pretty open. Only things I really struggle to enjoy are sports games and RTS's. My favourite games last gen would include Bioshock, Braid, Borderlands, the Fallouts, Mass Effect, Sacred 2, Diablo 3.

I love a good JRPG but don't know if I've played a memorable one for many years now. I have 1000GS in Enchanted Arms... my secret shame. Story and narrative I really enjoy, especially when done well.

I can't say that I could reasonably look up the best ranking games on Metacritic and link these to what I have enjoyed the most. "The classics" - e.g. must have Dreamcast games - are always best coming from word of mouth.

You've got Xenoblade which might not be enjoyable by everyone but it's by most considered the best JRPG of the last-gen.

I really loved that game, the characters, the mechanics, the story, a Wii U will give you the chance to play it :p

The Wonderful 101 is one of the most brilliant, rewarding and unique games ever made, and every moment of your life is darker for not having experienced it.

I just got my bonus and feel like buying myself a present. I have a PS3,PS4,360 and X1. I already owned a wii but lost it in a break up, though I still have Metroid Prime Trilogy Mario Galaxy and Xenoblade, none of which I have played.

Is it worth buying a WiiU? What are the games I should play that I can't get anywhere else? I have never really been a Nintendo gamer, so don't quite know what I'm missing.

Cheers in advance.

If you don't like Nintendo games, then you shouldn't get a Wii U.

If you don't like games targeted towards Toonami era youth, you shouldn't get a Wii U.

Regardless, you should never buy a system because of GAF hype. Look at the games and make your own decision.

If it helps, Super Mario 3D World is my favourite game ever, and the highest rated current generation game. Also, Mario Kart 8 is in my top 10 games.

Reasons to buy a Wii U:

1. Super Mario 3D World
2. Mario Kart 8
3. Wind Waker HD
4. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
5. Pikmin 3
6. The Wonderful 101
7. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
8. Zombi U
9. Rayman Legends
10. Shovel Knight
11. New Super Mario Bros. U

Upcoming reasons to own one:

1. Hyrule Warriors
2. Bayonetta (with extra costumes!)
3. Bayonetta 2
4. Super Smash Bros. U
5. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
6. Splatoon
7. Mario Maker
8. Yoshi's Wooly World
9. Kirby and the Rainbow Curse
10. Zelda U
11. Starfox U
12. Devil's Third
13. Xenoblade Chronicles X
14. Mario Party 10

More than 90% of those are exclusives, and the rest are games that play best on the console. Get it! The experience it offers is way different from the other consoles at the moment.

Wii U is offering:

Bayonetta 2
Xenoblade X
Super Mario 3D World
Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze
Captain Toad
Pikmin 3
Zelda U
SMTxFE (if it aint vaporware at this point)
Mario Kart 8
Wonderful 101
Super Smash Bros. (not my kind of game, but a lot of people are excited for it)

Also if you liked Wind Waker, you get an HD version.

I haven't gotten the console yet, but I plan on getting one sometime in the near-ish future to compliment my PS4. However, if they announce a western release for the new Fatal Frame I'll instantly buy one.

If you look for a nice deal (black Friday?) You can get one for cheap.
It's not getting a ton of 3rd party support, but with your PS4/X1 that shouldn't be a problem to you.
It's fully compatible with all (as far as I know, or at least 99%) of Wii games, so there's a fairly bug library already available to play.
Of course, it also plays Wii U games so you'll have access to a lot of the best exclusives in the market this new generation.
Some nice variety too with 1st person shooter/horror games, action games, 2D/3D platformers, action adventure games, RTSs, puzzle games, etc.
The eShop is pretty good too, some pretty nice little games already available and lots more on the way.
It's my favorite current gen system for now (that could always change, I guess) and I've sunken a lot of hours into it and it's been fun
I own a 3DS, Vita, Ps4, and Wii U

You seem to have next to zero knowledge of or experience with Nintendo first-party games--which is kinda weird--but it also makes it literally impossible to predict whether you'd like them. You buy Nintendo systems for Nintendo games.

Have you played many 2D/3D platformers?

Just watch today's Nintendo Treehouse event. The one at E3 convinced me it can be a worthwhile purchase. This one could do the same for you but there won't be as many games being shown off since it is just a 1 day event.

I have all consoles too OP, except X1 which i'm getting next month with SO.
Get a WiiU now, and thank me later.
If you like the games available/coming to the system, then at this moment, it's really the one you must have in terms of library quality and quantity.
Also don't listen to the media and the hate that comes inspired by it. The vast majority of people who bought the system, fell in love with it, even those who were critical before.

So will i like 101 if I loved bayonetta but hated pikmin?
Yes, its not really much like Pikmin other than the fact you are controlling 100 characters at once. It still has Platinums over the top, ridiculous action. It really is awesome.

My favpurite bit is probably drawing a sqiggle on the gamepad then whipping baddies with a spiky pink whip...i dont know if thats a reflection on my character.

I don't know why you'd bother asking this question when you already seem to not really care what you spend your money on, is there really a point to owning all those machines? At this point might as well get a WiiU, it'll be a huge difference from the hilarious overlap you have from owning all 4 of those other consoles.

OP, get one and you won't regret it.

I thought I had outgrown Nintendo. Nothing they were doing seemed interesting to me and I just thought they were making games for kids and goobers. I have my PS4, PS3, and 360 and didn't think I needed a Wii U. I hadn't played Nintendo stuff since the early GameCube days. However, one day I really got the urge to replay through Mario 64 and Zelda OOT. I didn't have an n64 anymore and I've never bought a 3DS, so I had to buy a system to play them on.

I let GAF and friends talk me into a Wii U and I haven't looked back. Oddly enough, I haven't even got those N64 games as I'm waiting g for them to hit the eshop so I can play them on the GamePad rather than only in Wii mode. Instead I've been enjoying the great Wii u games like:

Zombi U - seriously one of the best survival horror games I've ever played. Stressful as hell too so I can only play for about 45 mins at a time. Seriously underrated, it's brilliant.

New Super Mario Bros U - Really clever level design. It's such a good time and a great palette cleanser after Zombi U.

Mario Kart 8 - this is just a fun, super colorful game that feels like the closest thing we have to classic arcade racers from the 90s. I really dig it and I don't even play it online. It's great playing with my wife too.

Also got a bunch of NES and SNES games and those are a lot of fun to play on the GamePad! Legend of Mystical Ninja, Super Castlevania IV, Punch-Out! And Super Mario Workd have been great trips down memory lane.

Also worth mentioning The Fall has been a great unique experience not found on other consoles.

Do it man, it's fun and so different from the other consoles it's like I forgot how great their stuff could be. You don't have to be a goober or a kid to appreciate it. I forgot that and am really glad I came back around.

- Pikmin 3 is great
- Donkey Kong Topical Freeze is the best platformer ever made
- Super Mario 3D worls is great and looks great
- MarioKart 8 is one of the best in the series
- NSMBWiiU is much better than NSMBWii and looks great
- Zombi U is pretty hardcore and very atmospheric
- Wonderfull 101 is great (though not for everyone)
- Zeldas WW HD is def. worth it.
- Bayonetta 2 is exclusive
- Lego City Undercover is pretty fun if you play with your kid (pretty fun game anyway, but a tad too easy)
- Zelda WiiU is coming and it looks great and is much more open world
- Smash Bros. for U
- Xenoblade Chronicles X
- the controller is great. yes it is.
- off tv play works great and looks great
- Miiverse is pretty great.
- online = free

i would never want to miss out on so many great games.

It's a great complementary console. Don't get me wrong, it's basically my primary console (and when I get a PS4, it will be my secondary console, mostly for RPGs), but I know that won't be the case for a lot of people. Some of my favorites include...
  • Super Mario 3D World (especially with multiple players)
  • Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
  • Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
  • NES Remix 1 & 2 (especially 2, but you might as well get and enjoy both)
  • Disney Infinity (multiplatform, but fun)
  • Mario Kart 8
I've also got a bunch of other indie games and 47 Virtual Console games (which might be more than I owned on the Wii, but Square Enix needs to get to releasing some of their classics over here like they did in Japan). I'm never bored with the Wii U.

Also worth noting, I have several games I have yet to crack open, like Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, LEGO City Undercover, and The Wind Waker HD. I'm planning to buy Bayonetta 2 (& 1) and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U when they launch.

Wonderful 101
New Super Mario Bros U
New Super Luigi U

Plenty of good 3rd party games on the cheap now (Splinter Cell, Deus Ex...).

Zombi U, Pikmin and Monster Hunter are three fantastic games.

Well worth a Wii U in my opinion, and of course, there's more to come.

It's the best console out right now content-wise. And the least expensive. There's a lot less content overlap between Wii U and everything else than between PS4/Xone. And you already got those. Wii U is a no-brainer. CONTENT IS KING.

Edit:
Also, you have 3 of the best Wii games unplayed there. You'll have a grand time. A grand time indeed.

There are 101 Wonderful Answers to your question :)

This ^ also it is something different when it comes to gameplay. I have all 3 consoles this gen but Nintendo is unique with console gameplay while my PS4 and Xbone are just jerking each other off. PC and WiiU give you something different. If you can't be sold on a unique experience you probably don't need a WiiU. But in all honesty the WiiU does have the best exclusives. The 3rd party support is pure shit but it has the best exclusive library at the moment.

It will be getting close to none of the games that you'll get on your other consoles, and it has some really interesting exclusives out or just around the corner like Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart 8, Super Mario 3D World, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, Pikmin 3 and Super Smash Brothers for Wii U.

It's also awesome playing VC and eshop titles off-screen on the gamepad.

As a complementary console for ps4/xb1/pc owners, it's absolutely worth the investment. you can probably get a pretty good deal on a bundle as well.

That being said, I would hate to have this machine as my only gaming device.
