Sleeping Dogs "Definitive" Edition on Xbox One has a terribly performing game engine

$60 (a fraction of that on PC)
30fps (yeah right)
Runs great on weaker PC's (my intel 3450 and amd 6950 1GB run it brilliantly)

Yeah this is a total cock up port in every way.

The strongest part is CQB combat and thats not up to par with Batman. Aside from that you have awful shooting and driving mechanics in a nice looking dead city

Hard to disagree with any of that. For what it's worth I enjoyed it (Plat'd), but simply put the mechanics outside of the combat, which itself is far from polished, are completely mediocre and the world is completely devoid of life or substance.

Combat was great initially but it got waaay too easy later on. They copied Batmans combat but stopped halfway. You can go into all the fightclubs and dominate pretty easy. Batmans (Asylum/Arkham) later combat rooms are a good challenge.

Driving felt off in the beginning but was fine and nice the more i played.

Fucking lol, if SE can't even be arsed to pay for a good port why should we? They even have the nerve to charge full price for this turd.

Wow, didn't realize Sleeping Dogs had become so divisive. I enjoyed it a lot. Wasn't groundbreaking by any means, but it was a lot of mindless fun. Shame the PS4/XBone ports are shot, but from what I heard the PC version runs just as well as the original did, if not better, so I'll definitely be grabbing it there.

A shame because the PC port of Sleeping Dogs is amazing. It is quite a demanding game though, this is why the Xbone struggles with its pos 7770 gpu.

I bloody love this game, despite owning it on OnLive (yeah...) and having it and all DLC on the 360 I decided to triple dip and drop the £50(!!!!!) for it on the Xbox One.

I played an hour this morning, and I must admit I'm a little disappointed. I've had it crash to the dash once, it feels really jerky and it doesn't really look all that much better.

Its still sleeping dogs, and its still great, but this really, really isn't worth the money.

I am quite disappointed.

Yeah the set piece areas like the market were alive but when you got to the more generic parts of the city they felt increasingly dead until I eventually thought it's time to leave this awful place, you can walk for miles and not see a smile.

It was demanding on my mobile GPU, but after a few driver updates the game ran on max settings flawlessly. A few patches will probably fix these issues up.

Why they didn't just delay it to Q1 or Q2? It was going to bomb during holiday season even if it was the best port ever and now as a bad port it's going to sell next to nothing. Too bad Square-Enix hardly has any common sense nowadays. Summer release with lowered price tag and I could have seen it do decently.

PC version actually looks worse than the previous PC release. Only thing it has going for it is the traffic density.

Square always there to provide the definitive experience to everyone for the low, low price of $60.

Thing is, that had maybe worked in the launch "drought" where people bought everything for their new consoles but now between/before so many new releases?

Also saying that the performance is expected for XB1 is just wrong. XB1 showed that it can do more than this. It's just a really bad port. Hope this is a major bomb and they get the message that this is not the way to sell your games (full price + shitty performance).

That is just sad.

Really glad the TR DE was allright performing, but now it looks like that SE just want to get on the remaster (in this case) cash grab train with a game checked by blind QA testers or maybe even half at sleep dogs.

SE really really trying kill this IP and hopes of a a sequel. From a shitty F2P title and now a fucked up port of first game

It is and the metacritic

80-83% Metacritic average is evidence of a bad game?!

It is and the sales reflect it

I'm pretty sure the original game sold over 2 million copies. And since when do sales accurately reflect a game's quality?

Harshly worded... I also thought the driving physics were sometimes a bit wonky and the cities lacked depth, but the plot was engaging and the combat was a thrill. I thoroughly enjoyed it despite the flaws.

I loved SD, but I can't disagree with these criticisms. The driving was heavily flawed, but the combat was amazing and I really loved the plot. It's definitely a good start, but in need of decent publisher support and an incubated sequel. Unfortunately if Triad Wars is the 'proper' sequel I can see the franchise ending there, and S-E has done a poor job of generating goodwill with this '''''''Definitive''''''' Edition.

How disappointing. How did SE manage this screw up when they spearheaded such a successful port of Tomb Raider (even at the lower framerate I enjoyed the hell out of this on XB1).

SE can kiss my ass when it comes to this port. I'm crossing it off my holiday purchase list for now, barring exceedingly positive reviews and Digital Foundry analysis.

For the person above who said the preview videos online on PS4 look like 60fps - web video runs at 30fps (and the game has a 30fps limit).

I've been capturing more footage and power cycled the Xbox to check it wasn't a local issue, and dear lord this port is a mess. There's even some new reproducible bugs in there which aren't in the original.

Eh, I've had the game for a fair while (I picked up a copy in Aus last week), and it runs and looks great on PS4.

I was watching some footage and pc comparison shots recently. The DE looks worse than the vanilla version. There is now a blur to the entire screen, I don't know what's causing it but it looks awful and kills the sharp detailed look of the vanilla version.

News of the bad framerate on consoles is also ridiculous, A game that should target 60fps falls below 30?

Eh, was going to double dip on this having Platinum'd the PS3 version and due to it bring one of my favourite games of last gen.

I'll just skip it now.

odd, at EGX PS4 looked fine (mind you I only watched a couple of mins) - looked solid 60fps

No it was definitely 30 at EGX as I played it and it bugged and crashed hard there on me (twice).

The port would have been short and rushed it IMOP was a sheer cash grab and looked flaky then, 1080/30 on both with dips is a poor show

Ah right. Metacritic. Defining what is and what isn't a AAA title since 2000.

All versions of Sleeping Dogs (barring XO) have a higher Metacritic than all versions of Destiny. Is Destiny a "b tier game" as well?
