October 16th: Donkey Kong Country (Wii U), Donkey Kong Land (3DS)
October 23rd: Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest (Wii U), Donkey Kong Land 2 (3DS)
October 30th: Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble (Wii U), Donkey Kong Land 3 (3DS)

Were the DKC games pulled from the Wii in EU like they were in NA? If so, this is good news, as it means they sorted out whatever legal complication kept the games off the eShop. Hopefully we'll hear an NA announcement soon.

Did Europe ever lose the DKC games on the Wii VC store? If so this has my hopes up for them to be added to the NA eshop too.

EDIT: Was going to ask where these images were coming from but I looked at the link and checked Nintendo Europe's Twitter and sure enough they are there. Might want to throw that info in there.

Interesting. I've never played a VC game on Wii U. Is the frame rate of the games true to their original and (maybe this is a case by case thing) is the Wii U pro controller supported?

Hopefully they come to the US Wii U store also, I've been wanting to replay the DKC games after playing Tropical Freeze earlier this year.

DKC2 is my second favorite game of all time (after Super Metroid), can't wait to get these, never got the 3rd one, and I've yet to play Tropical Freeze (had to do DKCR first!). so the discount on that will be nice, looks like I'll be doing a lot of Donkey Kong in November!

Awesome! I already had them on Wii, but it looked like garbage on my tv. Hopefully it's just the upgrade fee like before, so I can play them on the gamepad.

Thank god they are coming back. I already own all 3, but it was ridiculous to remove them from the service for two years.

Sorry for the stupid question, but why can't we have SNES titles on the 3DS? Is it not powerful enough? I would give Nintendo so much money for SNES on the go.

3DS can run SEGA Genesis games, assuming you bought any of them >_>;

Are The GB DK games as good as the SNES ones?

FUCK THEM FOR NOT GIVING US THE GBC VERSION OF DKL3!

Other than that, I am hyped; this is a nice surprise, specially since the SNES games were puled from the Wii VC because of God knows why. I will buy every single Donkey kong Land game!

Hopefully these comes to NA so I can finally "move" another game from Wii Mode to the Wii U proper. And maybe I'll finally buy the rest too (only ever bought the first DKC). :p

So it'll be about 33 quid hmmm, would've preceded nearer 25 but I'll still probably bite

From this week's PR

Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze €33.49 / £26.79 / CHF43.00 until 06/11/2014 22:59 UTC for users who downloaded Donkey Kong Country, Donkey Kong Country 2™: Diddy's Kong Quest™ or Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble™ from Nintendo eShop on the same Wii U.
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D €26.79 / £23.44 / CHF34.70 until 06/11/2014 22:59 UTC for users who downloaded Donkey Kong™ Land, Donkey Kong™ Land 2 or Donkey Kong™ Land III from Nintendo eShop on the same Nintendo 3DS with a Nintendo Network ID.

Just to clarify, this is The Donkey Kong Land GB games right? Not the SNES ones? If so, looks like they're still having issues bringing those back.

I want Donkey Kong Country GBC too! That was an awesome game, pushed GBC to its limits.

This isn't good news until Nintendo confirms that DKC 1-3 are the SNES and not the GBA versions.

They're not GBA versions, GBA versions had no sub-titles.

Finally seeing the DKC games again, huh... let's just hope they release in the US too!

Are The GB DK games as good as the SNES ones?
They aren't as good as the SNES games, no, but they do push the Game Boy pretty hard. DKL1 is a fairly simple game, and is entirely different from the SNES game. It has four worlds, inspired by worlds from the SNES game, but with more levels in them than the SNES worlds (because there are fewer of them). It's good but not great; I got it back when it came out, but never bought its sequels until much more recently. DKL2 is an adapted version of the second SNES game, so it's very much like the SNES game but with altered levels to fit the GB's screen resolution. Because it's less original, it might be the least interesting of the three, though otherwise it's pretty good. DKL3 is sort of like DKL2 in that it follows the world order of the SNES game, but story-wise it's a new game, not a remake like DKL2 is. The levels look familiar, for anyone who's played DKC3, but are redone, more so than in DKL2. It's good, maybe the best of the three.

Overall though, the biggest problem with the DKL games is that that kind of graphics, with CG-animated sprites over highly detailed backgrounds, isn't a good fit for a handheld. Enemies blend into the backgrounds CONSTANTLY! The problem can be solved with the actual carts, because in a GBC or GBA sprites and backgrounds can be displayed as different colors, but GB VC on the 3DS doesn't support that because Nintendo is incredibly lazy, so it'll be back to black-on-black confusion, I guess. Annoying. They're still decent games, though... but I like them more on GBC/GBA due to the addition of color. And on that note, the DKC remake for GBC, and that Japan-only GBC version of DKL3, would also be pretty great to see...
