Out soon! nice.

I own season 1 regular edition stuff and find the game rather fun, i'll bite with season 2 but only after I see some of it in action, i'm honestly not the biggest fighting fan but do enjoy them and their competitive side.

Any idea if this update to the game fixes anything like crushed blacks?

I STRONGLY doubt there's going to be a season 3. It would have to be mostly new characters and I'm not convinced MS would be interested in any more content after S2 is done.

And I think Kim Wu has a higher chance of being dropped than Tusk. But I kinda just assumed the last four characters would be Riptor, Kim Wu, Tusk and ARIA.

Hasn't the plan always been for 3 seasons, minimum? That way, they full retail package is 60 bucks for 24 characters.

As long as Season 2 doesn't tank, we'll be getting a Season 3. After that? Who knows, but I imagine the same rules apply. As long as each season does well, they'll continue to make more content.

Also, it's been confirmed we AREN'T getting all the OG characters this season, specifically because they want to save some stuff for S3.

MS has mentioned a couple times that they believe a full roster to explore unique archetypes for KI would be around 24 characters. There was also a tweet from one of the folks at IG saying that growth is incredibly important for Season 2.

I don't think Season 3 is a sure thing right now, but if Season 2 sees an upward trend and makes money then Season 3 makes sense.

They're holding back original characters to be used in Season 3.

We're getting a Season 3. There are only two more veterans returning in S2 and the rest are newcomers.

I think Season 3 is pretty much confirmed already. I think the devs have mentioned that some crazier character designs are being stored for Season 3.

KI has been a massive success when compared to other Xbox One download only launch titles. Adding more content to the game is not going to hurt.

I think the same, because MS wants to see growth to justify investing in Season 3 and the combination of Cinder and Riptor has more selling power than any combination with Tusk or Kim Wu.

Riptor is almost guaranteed not to happen this season. Don't get your hopes up.

Which is exactly why they'll save her as the hook for Season 3. This season, we were either going to get Cinder OR Riptor, but not both and Cinder is pretty much confirmed.
I hope I'm wrong too but multiple official comments are leaning towards this scenario.

Well, I'll just go over what's been said by the devs:


  • We are not getting all of the OG characters this season.
  • This is largely because they want to have some hooks for Season 3.
  • There are 4 returning characters this season which means: TJ, Maya, Almost assuredly Cinder based on dev comments, and one more.
So if Cinder and Riptor are the most requested characters left, and they want to hold back a character or two for the next season that people would be really in to, and Cinder is basically confirmed for S2, then it stands to reason Riptor will be saved for S3 as the main hook. That is unless you think Tusk or Kim Wu have sufficient enough fan followings to get people to buy S3 by themselves. I HOPE I'm wrong! I'd love to see Riptor sooner than later. But I don't think it's going to happen. We'll find out today or tomorrow regardless.

I believe you, but what comments have suggested Cinder over Riptor? The last hints I remember were the TJ Combo trailer with the glow at the end and Isgreen mentioning that there are only two characters from the original game who could emit that glow.

There's another comment along the lines of "Well it was either Cinder or a toaster oven." Can't find it at the moment but it was in the last thread. And honestly, who knows? Maybe it's been a bait and switch this whole time and that ends up being Riptor. But I seriously doubt we'll get both her and Cinder this season.
