PAL Charts - Week 43, 2014

Bayonetta 2 has 2 SKUs being tracked. That makes more sense to me as to its placement. Special edition should fall away next week most likely

Hmm, I thought we had a new figure for the 360 as well, which would provide a way to split that first figure?

Something about it passing the Wii?
Not much between them, then.
In absolute terms? Presumably. In relative terms though, it could be substantial. EDIT: Oh, I didn't realise we have updated figures for the PS4. Hmm then in relative terms it's not as disparate as thought either. The 1M figure was almost two months ago though.

EDIT2: On further thought, if the PS4 is at around 1.2M then the disparity is around expected at about 2:1 sales.

Well PS4 in September ( Destiny , Fifa etc ) , but Xbox One did well too.

PS4 was over 1 ML seven weeks ago , so maybe now is near 1,100/1,150 ? Is it possible? Maybe someone can do a good estimate.

XB1 was estimated to be at ~670K when PS4 hit the 1mil mark in September.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
PS4 at Week 36 - 1,000,000
One at Week 36 (PS4=1.5 One still at Week 36, according to Gfk) - 666,000

PS4 + One up to Week 43 - 1,800,000

PS4 + One sales from Week 37 to Week 43 - 134,000

Average weekly sales PS4 + One between Week 37 and Week 43 - 19,143

Which I don't think adds up considering this 1.8 figure. It would mean 130K were sold between PS4 and XB1 over the last 7/8 weeks (with destiny launch etc).

Wasn't there an MCV issue that talked about their combined sales being in the realm of 50K/week?

Yeah, which is...strange. This is all based on the datas we have between MCV and GFK, but I wonder if something is wrong, or if 50,000 sales per week (PS4+One) recently is real and, then, sales have been very low before this past few weeks.

...But right the week after the one when PS4 reached 1,000,000 was the Destiny week, so...the hell is going on.

The article says also that PS4 is still selling better than One .

Anyway there is something wrong between GKF and MCV ...

Well if 134k was sold in 7 (Week 37 to Week 43):

- Combined 50k during one of those weeks leaves 84k for the other 6 (14k average)

or

- Combined 50k during two of those weeks, leaving 34k for the other 5 (6,800 average)

Now considering the Xbox One jumped 155% one week, and the PS4 80% and then 300%...that could only refer to the second circumstance.

This comes from Game's annual report (through July). I was going to post this but the numbers didn't seem to match Chart-Track's (but they often post-adjust), and they give multiple sources (IHS, GfK, IDG) for the data, some of which are just analysts who estimate.

Ok...we need to make sure of the dates for all of these lol

(especially because I have a feeling this is through September)

Edit: .....July? huh

Thank you for clarifying where their sales figures come from.

I don't think the 666k figure for the XB1 came from GfK, and it was likely lower than that.

Wasn't PS4 + One total around 1,500,000 around June - July, according to MCV? And now it'd be 1,800,000. And why is MCV using numbers up to July when they're talking about most updated numbers.

...I'm even more confused now. What the fuck.

The last gen total being actually up to date requires PS3 to have rolled off a cliff since hitting 5 million, so I doubt it.

P.S. Game's report is busted even accounting for the time, since we know that PS4+XB1 in Spain is 360k+~51k=411k through September 2014, while that report has 0.5m through July 2014

I'm feeling bad not having contributed to the Top 10 position :-/
I guess it'll be my selfie Christmas present but I also hope you can still find the special edition around Christmas time...I was at a Saturn a few hours ago and they only had the Bayo2-only-edition.

It's not confusing when you consider that MCV no longer have direct access to Chart-Track numbers. They occasionally get tipped off by retailers who do have access to Chart-Track numbers, but when they don't they are reliant on publicly available data the same as us. When that happens you can generally rely on gaf posters to analyse that data better than the media does.

Anyway, as others have already pointed out, the data contradicts other available data, which is why I chose not to post it in the first place.

Xbox One exclusive Sunset Overdrive has scored a second place entry into the UK top 40.

It couldn't threaten FIFA 15 at the top of the chart, which was first again for a sixth consecutive week.

WWE 2K15 arrived in fifth place, while Lords of the Fallen entered in 11th - although PC digital sales are not counted by UK numbers company Chart-Track.

The boxed copy of Telltale's The Walking Dead: Season 2 turned up in 25th, ahead of Season 1 in 38th.

PlayStation Vita role-player Freedom Wars was new at 39th, meanwhile.

Minecraft for PS3 and PS4 was third this week, ahead of The Evil Within in fourth. Destiny was sixth, Forza Horizon seventh, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor eighth, Skylanders: Trap Team ninth while Minecraft for Xbox 360 was 10th.

Like I said, Forza Horizon 2 is going to be a sleeper hit; it's going to keep on selling like Mario games keep selling on Nintendo boxes.

Congratulations Insomniac on Sunset Overdrive. They now have a new franchise to bank on, and they deserve all the praise they're getting.

I'm not sure about that. PR says it couldn't threaten FIFA in its 6th week. Sales could be anywhere from 10k-60k for all we know.

FIFA sales tend to increase around this time of year.

Only games that will take the top spot from it are CoD and Assassins Creed, only for FIFA to take it back a week or two later.

Eh... a bunch of games have managed to pip FIFA for the top spot in years past, around this time besides those franchises. I only looked at a couple of years charts but you have Arkham Origins, Lego Marvel, Medal of Honor, Hitman Absolution.

As for highest charting Insomniac games, I would have thought their Ratchet franchise would have had to have done well during the PS2 days to reach the numbers it has. EDIT: Just had a look, apparently the UK did not care for those games at all, really low starts.

I thought it was towards christmas that fifa comes back for the number 1 spot

I'm thinking top spots the next weeks

CoD week 45
AC week 46
GTA V week 47
? week 48

This year is going to be good. i can see gta being christmas number 1. fifa has had it for a couple of years...hmm

EA’s ‘FIFA 15’ (+6%) does it again with a 6th consecutive week at No1 since launch, the most of any title so far this year.

Previous version ‘FIFA 14’ made 12 appearances at No1 (a record for FIFA titles) and also strung a 6 week streak together, but not from launch. Microsoft’s Xbox One platform exclusive ‘Sunset Overdrive’ debuts as the highest new entry at No2 – courtesy of the Ratchet & Clank / Resistance developer Insomniac.
There are 8 new entries within the Top 40 this week and the seven others are as follows. New at No5 is 2K Sports/Take 2’s ‘WWE 2K15’. At No11 this week is Square-Enix’s Tuesday release ‘Lords of the Fallen’ for Gen 8 & PC. Debuting at No23 is Telltale Games’ ‘The Walking Dead: Season 2’, followed at No25 by Focus/Koch Media’s ‘Farming Simulator 15’ for PC. Telltale Game’s ‘The Walking Dead: Game of the Year’ debuts at No36 followed at No38 by the other Tuesday release this week – Nordic Games’ ‘MX Vs ATV Supercross’ for 360/PS3. Last of the new releases at No39 is Sony’s PS Vita Action RPG ‘Freedom Wars’.
