GTA 5 - First Person Mode Confirmed, First Screens, Trailer, 4K on PC

Nope, don't let your kids go near this game lol.

Damnit. I wouldn't let them play unsupervised, but I've let them play previous versions just to check out the city. We always had to do it with the volume turned down real low since pedestrians would curse at you.

It was rumored, but the assumption was it would be tacked on and basic. I figured it would be driving at best.

This is a comprehensive FPS mode that is fully featured. No one saw that coming.

I recall seeing someone hack the game and actually play it in first person. Maybe some of the animations here were not there, but I know the person playing walked around and drove in first person, and the detail seen made people wonder why such a feature was in the game.

This version highlights why such code existed.

I hated GTA IV so much that I completely ignored GTA V. Specifically, I hated the clunky mechanics of doing pretty much everything in the game. Question: is GTA V better/worse/different than GTA IV? Especially interested if anyone also hated IV but liked V.

I know this is a weird question, but have they mentioned anything about an option to turn off random cursing from the characters? I'd like to let my kids drive around and take pictures and whatnot.
I doubt it very much. Watch Dogs doesn't have as much of that stuff if you want to try that.

I hope some of the locomotion/animation changes bled over into the 3rd person view as well. I'd like to think doing some first person stuff would've improved how sluggish the character controls were overall.

Is it me or his the screen of his smartphone is broken ?

Little R* details.

this might make me love this game. My biggest issue with GTA4 and 5 is that the combat and player movement is shit. If they tweaked this when adding FPS....oh my

The swearing is probably the least of your worries in GTA V. It's utterly not for kids.

If you mean GTAIV felt more weighty and somewhat unresponsive at times, then GTAV is a bit lighter and more responsive control wise. Shooting is also improved I think.

Thanks for the answer, and giving the prices I'll just dish out a little bit more and grab two 970s then.

I just impulse bought a Samsung 28" 4K monitor for £400 in June, and my (now broken) 780 could not handle High settings + 4K together on a decent framerate for some of the recent games I've played.

That's a lie, unless those games were Crysis 3 on Ultra, or WatchDogs on anything.

I use my 780 to do 4K gaming all the time. I wouldn't expect 60 fps at 4K just yet, the 780 is great but it wasn't made for that. expect around 30-40 fps in most games, with some games needing you to tweak some settings to get the framerate consistent. Even on low, a lot of PC games look better than their console counterparts.

Not weird. No though

I like lots of elements off the game, enjoy the violence and morally have no issues with any of it but the continual swearing is off putting / OTT. Every second word at some points. Many will say 'OTT is the point', but I really do think less would have been much more in this regard.

This should be remote play compatible with Vita right? I'm actually hoping not because i'm trying to talk myself out of getting this day one and just waiting for black friday.

Any game that doesn't use the PS camera should be remote playable. That said some devs do a better job translating the controls than others.

99.99% certain that this is trevor's phone lol. look at the dirty hands.

Yep Windows Phone-like is Trevor, Android-like is Franklin and iFruit is Michael. I guess it's just always broken for Trevor, not broken when you fall or after being killed by a 2km high jump.

Its a cool feature, and I'll mess around with it. But it's something I wont use often, unless there's something within the game that would be more enjoyable in first person, much like using the phone or driving a dirt / street bike.

I like this question - and wish there was an option!

I play GTA V with my son (he's 9).

Before anyone moans - the way I play it is I created a 'deathmatch' in the desert with no weapons, but with a load of ramps and a wide variety of cars and planes. I then go into the test mode, and that enables you to test, obviously, the environment, but without being online with other playes. I also turn off all pedestrians. The reason why I create a deathmatch is because that seems to be the mode that you have the most control over - he doesn't do any fighting when he plays.

So in this mode (that we only play together - he doesn't get to play it without me with him), he gets to fly the planes and helicopters all over the map - which he loves, and also try all the different cars and do jumps but also just drive around the city, along the beach, off the mountains...

The test mode can be played for a max of an hour, so it actually works well.

I'm definitely getting the PC version.

I'm not really sure if I'd want to use first person in a GTA game but at least it looks like they put some effort into it and it's not half-assed.

I'd probably try it out here and there but I'll likely stick to the default third person.

No aiming reticle?

Would normally think its just marketing but the rest of the game UI is there.

Its all good if we can unlock the Shit-stick 3000.

I think the aiming reticle is still that small white dot. I could barely make it out in the video so I'm not sure if it's still there

GTA is missing something: a COP MODE. Imagine cop tailing you giving you tickets for excessive speed. Or how about this: You play as COP and able to give out tickets to citizens that violate traffic laws or report to crime scenes a la COP on TV shows. This will be in 1st person perspective (this will look awesome). Rolling around the streets w/ the song playing "Bad boy bad boy...watcha goin' do...whatcha goin' do when they come for you...." lol. That is sick!!

And what about buying gasoline for cars that run out of gas? I know what people will say...but GTA, you shouldn't be running out of gasoline. Again, how about make it so that ONLY rarely do you run out of gas? This way, it won't affect much of the gameplay but at least it's cool to have that option to buy gasoline at the stations. This makes the world more realistic and more lively. And you will see residents heading into stations lining up just to get gas or head into stores to get food. I have suggest this for way back God knows when but it never get implemented.

Looks utterly amazing. My roommate and I sat around playing hundreds of hours of GTAV on 360, and I can't wait to play hundreds more hours on PS4.

There is no greater game for fucking around with friends than GTAV.

Because we don't have enough fps games..

Yeah, you give people more options to be able to play your game - that is optional, not mandatory - and someone, somewhere, will find a way to shit all over it. Well done.

On-topic, really looking forward to this... in January. Fuck you, Rockstar.

I cant imagine why that fuel feature hadn't been implemented...

Awesome work around. I've always thought that they could make a fortune by tweaking the game to have a kid friendly mode. Cursing, Blood off. Paint Ball guns instead of the real ones. Drop the missions and just make check points.

The mechanics still mostly pulled straight from the PS2 era and feel really outdated if that is what you mean.

From CVG GTAV o'clock podcast:

They said something to the effect of the PS4 light bar changes color depending on which character is in use.

---

The exclusive PS4 controller effects could make this the definitive edition in the eyes of some costumers.

These innovative uses of the controller could become standard in AAA games in the future. Konami needs to steal this effect for TPP in some capacity.

As long as this doesn't force GTA VI or whatever into a FPS, I'm fine. I like options. Going from a good third to first-person shooter is great.

I disagree. Strongly. Like... what?

I enjoyed GTA IV, but it indeed had some really clunky controls. GTA V is MUCH better in this regard. Character moves much better and cover mechanics are much easier and precise.
