Splatoon singleplayer campaign announced

This looks so beautifully weird! The style, the characters, the locales, the music, I love it! I truly hope this becomes a staple Nintendo IP. Buying this, for sure.

Fantastic to hear that it has a single player campaign. I'm not totally convinced of its quality from this initial trailer, but I'm confident it will be a high-quality campaign as we go forward.

Damn, if I'd known how much I'd be posting here, I'd have nabbed the OT for this instead of A-Train: City Simulator (which may not even come this Winter given Natsume's silence).

Did anyone catch the older Inkling/mollusk popping from the hatch, looking around dazed with a skipper's hat on? He's my new favorite. I'd buy the Amiibo version of him, although having the skin available for vanilla multiplayer would rock.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
This has the potential to be a great new IP for Nintendo; hoping it achieves the million-seller milestone.

The bad guys are Daleks that's pretty genius. I hope they fix the motion controls when i played it at E3 it wasn't so hot. The regular gamepad controls felt nice though

This game continues to amaze. The single player level design really reminds me of Super Mario Galaxy, to which I have absolutely no problem with.

I really really really hope this game is a big success next year because I want Nintendo do more experiments like this.

Looks bonkers, stilistically it's basically Sunset Overdrive on Wii U, actually screw that, it's Jet Set Radio on Wii U.

Will buy, I can see this becoming the next long lasting Nintendo IP that will one day be as famous as Kirby, StarFox, DK, Mario, Zelda, etc.

This is too good. Oh my god, this game!! I'm psyched for this. The 60fps trailer is just... AH! I need this. Give it to me.

This looks absolutely fantastic. I was afraid of a tacked on single player campaign but there seems to be some serious effort put into that level design. Having already played the game, I am already sold on the gameplay.

This is a good example of Nintendo taking risks. They at minimum delayed if not completely passed up on Animal Crossing, one of their most popular franchises now, for WiiU for this.

I still think we'll get an Animal Crossing U holiday '16 but still.

It's hard to tell how involved the campaign will be. Bosses? Narrative? Unique levels? I'm not sure if it's just a bunch of squid bots hanging around in the multiplayer stages.

These are clearly levels meant to be played single player, the mp maps are basically flat arenas with some towers.

The written language in this world deserves some respect of its own as far as design goes:

I swear this language borrows enough from every written language style and mixes them all together expertly enough where Japanese and English readers alike would swear that they would be able to read it if they only had a longer look at it.

Not to mention the comic frame to the right in the image above looks more manga-esque whereas a lot of the wall graffiti looks western-influenced.

I seriously cannot get over the incredible style this game has. It honestly doesn't look like a Nintendo game, yet that's not bad in any way whatsoever.

This game excels in it's graphic art. I saw these little slides and almost wanted Nintendo to pump out a complimentary manga or CE with these newspaper comic style things wrapping it.

I also got an extremely weird Hunter X Hunter vibe reading the made up language in these stills.

Edit: Orange Inkling is canon as fuck btw.

Hopefuly there's more diversity in terrain and elevation for the arenas than what's been shown. If that's instead being given to the campaign levels, then I don't know where the team's priorities lay.

What if everyone was a descendant of Bloopers & Octoroks & the war has been going on for years & years between the two?

You think that's strange, I just realized something even weirder!

Those Octopus enemies aren't actually Octopus at all... they're... tentacles!

As in "Day Of The"...

And there'll be cnidarians as well, including those asshole men-'o'-war. Gotta have a sneak peek at all the seafood we'll be eating in half a century...
not kidding, this game could have an environmental message
.

I really love all the thought going into the world's culture. The music (claimed to be modeled after what sort of music the characters would listen to), the language, the company logos, the comics, the propaganda... It's all super rad and stylish. Hopefully the images they flashed in the trailer are from some kind of supplementary material that appears in the game, and there's lots more of it
or best case scenario Splatoon turns into a thriving franchise.
