Assassin's Creed Unity - PC Performance thread

He has a GPU that is roughly 2-2.5x the raw power of the PS4 GPU. He's running the game at a resolution that is roughly 45% higher than the PS4 1080p vs 900p), at double the framerate and at higher visual settings. The game's performance seems absolutely fine to me.

Edit: Heh, beaten like a chump!
This is an accurate assessment.

People are free to have an issue with this game's performance on all platforms, but the PC version seems perfectly fine relative to the others.

I must hate myself... I just upgraded my PC and I...want to see what it can do.

i5 4670K @ 4.2 Ghz
16 GB Ram
2x 970 4 GB in SLI
Asus ROG Swift.

Again, I hate myself for thinking about picking this up but I wanna seeee...

I don't have that monitor, but otherwise we're near identical. I'm curious, too. Thank God for the free game promo. Lol

He has a High End PC with one of the best GPUs in the world. He is totally right and you are defending bullshit, that is ridiculous.
That's what i was trying to say in my initial post. Maybe i didn't word it as such so i apologise if there was a misunderstanding. A 780 and 2600k i7 are high end parts.

????

He IS. He's getting 55-60 FPS with FXAA at 1080p on max (minus PCSS shadows) Vs the PS4's 900p ugly as sin (check out the screenie above) presentation, NOT at PC maxed settings and 30 FPS WITH drops.

What do you want? 144 FPS with super sampling?

This shit is getting beyond ridiculous.
FXAA (aka The Vaseline AA). I could get 50-60fps in games too if all i did was apply FXAA but i have a GTX 560Ti. The OP has a 780. The least one could expect with such powerful hardware is a rock solid 60fps. I know i would if i had one.
No i don't want 144FPS. I don't get off on FPS in the hundreds.
This is a piss poor PC port by Ubisoft no matter which way you slice it.
Also, please try to post in such a way that you don't come across as aggressive.
Go take a walk, do some stretching or whatever and then maybe come back and post or contribute in a calm civil manner.

What's the consensus guys? I'm getting it for ps4 (no friends on PC) but may double dip on the PC version at a later date if it's, a) A huge graphical difference, B) runs well on my 770

Look guys, I HAVE A CHOICE DAMMIT. ON PC I AM FREE.

Yes, but using SweetFX modifications to the game versus the default settings/max for the next-game isn't a good comparison.

We don't have 770 benchmarks yet, we'll see. In the meantime, convince your existing friends to buy PCs :)

All we can say for sure is that it'll definitely run better than the console version on a 770.

This is not a port issue, this is an engine issue.

The game is running just as we should expect it to run given how it is running on a PS4.

I'm not upset, btw. I think caps on words gets anger accross instead of emphasis, but I'm super happy today as I'm basically done with work an hour early ;) I gotta stop doing that.

Black Flag had SMAA, FXAA, MSAA (up to 8x), and TXAA (2x\4x).

I think maybe you're remembering that game wrong. It look alright... but not better than what I've seen form Unity so far. I'm seeing the same issues that Black Flag had in terms of NPC models and LOD.

Check the screenshots around us.

Unity even on PC looks like a god damned blur of Reddish brown and white. It seems the artstyle in tandem with the AA options and blur ruin the IQ

Ok cool. Well I may have a 970 by the time I pick this up for PC. Will stick with PS4 for now though :/ I'm always wary of Ubisoft PC games. I have been stung before by their poor performance so just a little wary!

As was already explained on the top of the page the PC version seems to perform similarily to the console versions.

aka: if you have hardware similar to a PS4 that's the quality of visuals you'll get.

That's not a "piss poor port".

Now, you may be dissatisfied with the performance anyway - which is not unreasonable considering draw distance and pop in and stuff - but in this case the complaints concern all platforms equally. They are not the result of a poor port job.

(at least with the early impression we have at the moment anyway).

Regardless, it's not an accurate depiction of Black Flag
thank god

You're right, my bad.

I still like saturation though.

The port seems fine. It's just a very demanding game.

Point made. I was going on the OP and how he was struggling to get stable 30fps with max settings.
Some have mentioned the game is demanding. I just expected a 780 to get a solid 60fps with max settings.

No idea if true but some dude is posting possible spoilers in chat...

Not reading the caht atm to be honest but he just dissabled MSAA2x and went for FXAA and the game runs now at 50-60 fps.

So for all GTX 970 people 60 fps seems to be doable with some tweaking...

No! You have a duty to keep us informed!

Lol just kidding obviously, have fun with the game and many thanks for doing all that testing for us.

you can have unrealistic exceptation (given console performance)...it's a rigth.
