Square Enix will reveal a new console RPG that isn’t a remake in December

You said SE wouldn't lose out from a time exclusivity deal with MS. I say that's bollocks. People who didn't buy X1s were incensed by the Tomb Raider. I imagine there might be even more outcry with an RPG deal depending on the franchise.
Are you the "I'm an expert on Japanese culture" meme guy?
Nah, I'm a "don't respond to people's point with shitty memes and ad hominems" kind of guy
unlike you.

More outcry for a dying genre than one of the most recognizable gaming franchises in the world? Really?

X-3 or XIII-3. I'd die if its a new Dragon Quest.

Something like that. Nice to hear its on consoles and not mobile this time. Still not expecting much.

Chrono break or star ocean 3 (all installments after second story have been deleted from my memory by cognitive dissonance).

A dying genre? I wasn't aware that RPGs were dying across the world. And more outcry? Yes. The existence of a second exclusivity deal wouldn't exist in a vacuum without context of the first deal. The Tomb Raider merely irritated people. Having it done again would outright incense people.

I hope it's Square Enix experimenting with smaller, lower budget and shorter RPG games that a small crew that slit out in 18 months without breaking the bank in terms of budget. Make it a small, 12 hour RPG that is download only, 25 dollars and experiments with new features and is a playground to do weird shit.

So first you said the Tomb Raider "incensed people." Now it just kind of irritated them, while the dying JRPG genre will get OUTRIGHT INCENSE.

Okay.

Spitting in the face of their Playstation fans would certainly cause them to lose something.

Ha. That would be nothing new for SE. Exactly what fans haven't they burned by now? At some point they will even piss off their mobile fan base.

I mean, they burned Nintendo fans when FF went to Sony so long ago. They teased an FF for GCN and it was totally not what anyone wanted. They won't localize DQ games for 3DS.

They supported the PSP big time, and those fans that bought a Vita have basically been left out in the cold in favor of mobile. And there is always Type 0.

Playstation home console fans saw Kingdom Hearts move exclusively to handheld. Think they liked that? Think they liked it when SE inked those MS exclusive 360 RPGs early on last gen? How about Dragon Quest going Nintendo for a generation?

Think MS fans like not having FFXIV on Xbox One?

How about torturing FF fans with the XIII saga for a generation, or letting every IP that's not FF/KH just fade away into oblivion?

Point is I guess, that Square Enix doesn't exactly have any loyalty and they have proven that time and time again, to both fans of their IP and fans of certain platform holders.

The odds of this happening are slimmer than the thinnest phone.

Don´t know if it qualifies as a "new" game, but please be new Deus Ex.
Human Revolution was one of the best games of last gen for me.

Honestly, I would prefer a new IP than a revival. I highly doubt Valkyria Profile holds any value to the consumer. It's not a Chrono game.

But if this was a Chrono game...man.
They recently released what's basically a Chrono game, Final Fantasy XIII-2. The time travel aspect was pretty fun.

Didn't Square say this was exactly what they needed to start doing, make more experimental, lower budget games? They were really shook up by how freaking popular Bravely Default was, selling over a million copies, and said they were going to change their strategy based on that.

Modern SE making a Chrono game is a terrifying, albeit potentially awesome thought. I always say throw it over to Level-5, but unfortunately its too capable of making money to sell and too incapable of making money to make. Such is the limbo it lives. I was amazed to see Parasite Eve resurface on handholds... unfortunately I hear it was garbage. I'd LOVE a current gen Parasite Eve.

Maybe a new IP?

Okay.
It was a linguistic inconsistency bud, which doesn't take away from the point. The Tomb Raider deal was a minor irritation in that it seemed to be a one-time deal. Doing it again wouldn't be a popular decision in any way and it could certainly turn people off from SE. Money-hating tends to remain fairly unpopular.

This is all true. I've long ago lost any loyalty I had to them. I can't wait to see how they burn mobile. That being said, I think there are people who are willing to give them a chance if they pull off XV. Killing that goodwill by doing a terrible money-hat would just be dumb IMO.

Final Fantasy 16 could probably be out before 15 if the 13 series team is making it.
You do realize that FFXIII was announced in 2006 and (even with full priority of resources) only got stateside in 2010, right? SE's management issues are company-wide, not relegated to 'teams'.

I think you need to find a place in reality. Other than a few internet fanboys, no one would care, and it certainly wouldn't "turn people off from SE."

That's what I was thinking, particularly if it were announced at the PS Experience.

Yeah, the sequel to one of the best games of last gen being announced would totally be a "fail reveal". Their western studios should just sit there and not make any games. SMH.

I have never liked Eidos so for me Square Enix teasing a RPG they are developing and then it turns out to be some Eidos IP sequel is a massive let down. It's also what I've come to expect from this company.

Would be like shooting themselves in the foot, aye?

Really? You seem to live outside reality as well. I think you should go back and read the Tomb Raider announcement and see how irritated people were. Now imagine having that done again. People certainly do care about money-hatting and there are people will not support it. Read any thread talking about SE and see how negatively people talk about the company. Adding another money-hat to that would just add to the litany of complaints that have been collected against them for the past 8 years and contribute to their increasing unpopularity.

All those irritated message board users are representative of the entire world, right?

Have you actually played FFXIII-2?

I played the demo and I thought it was crud.

Seriously, I'm pretty well informed on FFXIII. I don't need to play the game to know it's not Chrono Trigger or Chrono Cross. There's a reason why those games are heralded.

Where is this talk about MS moneyhating an exclusive JPRG from Square coming from???

Sometimes I wonder if some Xbox fans just don't imagine an alternate reality where MS just gives money to 3rd party companies for -not- releasing games at all.

1) Not developping games anymore (releasing a JRPG exclusively on the Xbox Platform, particularly XB1, is pretty much as close as it gets to that)

2) Getting paid by MS for sitting on your butt, and then going to the local bar.

3) Profit

Just ... Smh.

Yes. My portrayal of the situation is absurd. That's pretty much the point though.

If it is a yoko taro game, I would lose my head in hype! Gonna keep my expectations in check and expect dq11 or a a lesser game

I dunno about "representative," but they're certainly useful to gauge the popularity of decisions among the core of the gaming populace. If you don't think they're of use, why exactly are you here? SE has an undeniable image proble that transcends this message board alone.

Yeah, I think you're a little delusional.
