Yup, they save right before a legendary encounter, then reset every time the legend isn't shiny.

Is there a list of the shinies that can be SR for in ORAS? I know Zekrom and Reshiram couldn't be shiny in BW/2 but if they can be now that'd be awesome.
I also wanna try SR for Dialga, he's my favorite legendary.

That's the problem, by rule (my own, just a thing I've been doing since Red/Blue) all my pokemon must be fully evolved before the 8th gym.

Know where abouts the Shiny Charm is in ORAS? I'm not far (only done 2nd gym), but it made a big difference in X and Y while running around.

I didn't expect my Metagross to be able to one shot it 20 levels lower, even with a critical. And yeah probably should have. ah well, i'll get it eventually.

So, now that shiny lock seems to be gone... they just don't randomly shove you into a legendary fight without a chance to save in this remake, right? And you know what you're getting into before you get there, right? Don't want any surprises. I tend to save often, but there are times I just forget and hope I don't screw myself out of either time or a chance.

you actually have to talk to Groudon/Kyogre/Rayquaza/Triangle Deoxys comes out of
to start the battle
so you can save immediately beforehand

It kind of does for Latios/Latias and definitely for Deoxys.
If you kill it and it respawns, do the stats change by any chance? I'm curious if it's stuck with whatever it is the first time you encounter it.

Turning my exp share on to bring this Swablu up to speed. I'd have to piggyback it so stuff would be getting EXP anyway. I don't feel like grinding for hours for a few levels to make this thing worth using.

SR = soft reset
Basically, you save before getting a particular Pokemon. Once you get the Pokemon, you check out it stats, nature, IVs, and so forth to see if they're good. If you don't like what you got, you just do a soft reset and try again. For a shiny, that means, continually resetting until the Pokemon you're SRing comes out shiny.

On average how long does it take for it to be a shiny? Seems like it would be a long night SRing for a shiny.

I've never SR'd for a shiny legendary. I don't see the point if you can hack a "legitimate" one anyway. I'll be trying for this game though for Zekrom and Reshiram.

It is spread via StreetPass. Pokémon League Leaders and Premier Challenge Tournament Organizers across North America have received them. Spreads virally through StreetPass so people who receive it then also become distributors. Eon Ticket lets you get the Lati that isn't in your game by default.

If you're willing to make sure you smack something to OHKO your opponent and switch out, then it's okay.
Otherwise, Traunt is NOT OKAY.
It used to be 1 in 8192, but these days I think the random encounter rate is 1 in 4096.
Slakoth was trash but Vigoroth is doin WORK
When it evolves into Slaking I'll just use Giga Impact, switch out for free, then let something else do something, then repeat :3dakkumauji
