Nice pickup for Sony after the TR debacle.

#competition

Ah you know, great reactions at least. So how about Kingdom Hearts 3 only on XBO? The internet would melt.

Haha yeah if Square Enix wants the series to die, the Tomb Raider example was a stupid move for multiple reasons more than just it being on Xbox One only, I'd probably echo the exact same sentiment if that happened to KH3 now that I think about it.

You won't need that powerful of a rig to play SF5 on PC.

My guess is an average desktop PC right now will end up running SF5 just fine provided it runs on a modern OS.
It doesn't have to be a powerful rig, it still needs to be a PC built for gaming which is not something every console gamer owns.

Thats a pretty big get for Sony. Securing the fighting community entirely with one move.

Still sort of a shitty practice, just like MS did countless times this gen already (Titanfall, Tomb Raider).

The fact that this is also coming to PC makes it waaay more tolerable than the TR deal though, because in the end at least there is an option for those that don't own a PS4.

Talking about the game though, I am not really a fan of fighting games, even though I did try to play SFIV a lot back then, but it does look like an improved SFIV.

The PS4 fightstick I bought while in Japan is now justified.

Awwww, so hype!

My XB1 version of that stick came today. Such a great piece of kit.

People should be upset at moneyhats and multiplatform franchises being bought to not come out on competing hardware.

I'm sure a lot of these "upset" Xbox fans will boycott Tomb Raider to protest the moneyhatting of multiplatform franchises then?

Tekken 7 was always going to sell far better on PlayStation though. He's just fooling around.

That's not the point, it's still good news for him. It means whatever's left of the SF community that owns a XB1 as well as the KI community is up for grabs,

This is an odd exclusive game. I didn't think street fighter was a series that pushed console sales. I don't see why Sony would spend the money to make it exclusive and I don't see why capcom would want to limit its potential sales market.

I'm sure we will get the details of the exclusivity soon.

Playstation-centric franchise suddenly becomes Xbox exclusive with the third installment? That's some nice console wars fanfiction there.

Capcom pulled the video from their channel, wither it's exclusive or not I'm happy that SFV is coming after all.

let's wait for the official announcement.

Not much of an exclusive at all. Also coming to PC, and they'll release SFV Turbo/Super/Ultra within a year and that will likely be on Xbone.

As for the game itself, I bought SFIV and enjoyed it, but I'm not at all a competitive player and am really hoping they take notes from Mortal Kombat/Smash Bros. and put some compelling single player content in it.
I know they won't :(

I know this was rumoured ages ago but I really didn't think it would happen but this is big! Not for me though as fighters aren't my thing and I've probably had enough after the PS4 version...unless they do some sort of discounted upgrade for people who have downloaded the PS3 version.

Only just seen this so haven't read the whole thread, has there been any confirmation of some sort of upgrade deal?

Microsoft can. How do you explain the next Tomb Raider game not coming to PC at all, and being completely exclusive to Xbox?

But don't we already know the Tomb Raider thing is entirely temporary, or at least entirely likely to be from what was stated IIRC

He isn't that vindictive. He wants all fighting games to be as successful as possible and is friends with Ono. He's just trolling, and the XB1 FGC/KI community will be miniscule anyway.

Yes because Microsoft is totally not about Free To Play fighting games with 3D graphics and 2D gameplay, certainly not.

Microsoft's policies with F2P games isn't as strict as it used to be, but it's still strict that there is still not a lot of F2P games coming on the system versus the PS4.

And KI is a first party game, OF COURSE Microsoft is gonna handle it differently. :/

Very awesome announcement. Stoked.

If the PS4 continues outpacing the competition, expect more and more exclusivity situations like this, especially from Japanese developers. Nobody complained about third party exclusivity when the PS2 was on top.

Interesting point. Especially when you see how non existent the Xbox One is in Japan itself I can foresee us slowly edging towards a point where Xbox One starts getting snubbed by Japanese publishers. Of course sales in the West (well, the US and UK) may be enough to make it worth their while continuing but PS4 is still outselling in those markets or it's very close with Sony having every potential advantage going forwards (Morpheus, their own 1st party range of quality titles) and the rest of the world the PS4 is dominating...

Was there some kind of data that gave you an inkling? Or are you just saying "I called it!" without actually showing any evidence of calling it?

I found the moneyhat to be out of left field.

I'm not saying this is a moneyhat (I don't know and I really don't care as long as it's on PC), but some people are saying that the exclusiveness is good because otherwise the game wouldn't exist.

Oh, bitch bitch bitch.
Dismal future? Really?

Well, even if it is 'dismal', it's far better than no future, which seems like an entirely possible outcome if just one of those risks turned into a flop without any insulation.

If you cant publish a game in a series like SF without manufacturer help, you are in trouble.

Some great delusional answers here. Who said Sony was broke? Still, there is no doubt that they are in trouble, and with how great the PS4 is doing, this seems like a strange move to do with such a huge (and potentially expensive) franchise.
It makes some sense. They don't really have a fighting game of their own so this being console exclusive helps give PS4 "its" fighting game. Maybe they did a similar deal with Capcom to get DMC exclusive to have an action game as well.

Wow they actually did it. Seen people talking about this yesterday and I was thinking to myself "yeah right."

Probably not. But will all the "dick-move from MS" people back then now give Sony the same treatment or will they be quiet since its now on their plattform of choice?

Why are people saying this is exclusive? Is the PC some mythical platform that only exists in legends?! Discuss the console exclusivity all you want but it's getting ridiculous that people don't view PC as a platform.

Because +95% of people excited for this news will play it on PS4.

Everybody knows this whole shebang is about dem console wars. I don't understand why Pc gamers always want in on the conversation.

XD Yeah. I don't know if they want "in" on it, per se; I think they simply find the lack of mention to be a bit funny. But maybe I'm projecting! (I get your point, though.)

I own a PS4 and a PC, so I should be happy and tbh I am. I was giddy as hell watching this trailer about 30 mins ago. I feel bad for my friends who just own an xbox one though, especially those that played 4 on 360. I do wonder if this will be timed exclusive or full. Xbox Live was *the* way to play SF4 online for the entirety of the last generation. It was an absolute trooper for SF4, and still continues to be. Between them (Capcom and Sony) they'll need to get the online experience up to at least that standard, and then some, if they're serious about this exclusivity. I can't personally see them just ignoring xbox in the west for the entirety of SF5's lifespan though. Perhaps in Japan.

It's all speculation since we don't know the terms of the console exclusivity deal. It must have been a sweet one though, that's for sure.
