Street Fighter 5 for PS4 & PC teaser trailer

Honestly looks like SF makes more money that RE due to all its re-releases. Though RE does still ^ million + and pretty quickly so who knows. Those are two are definitely their biggest brands.

You can't compare 5 different version of SF to 1 RE game even less so when work was done on the other versions.
Also MH4 sold 4 million in Japan which make it bigger than SF also

Considering I went through 10 pages, yeah. Which ones? most of them showed anger in one topic and none in topics concerning this game.

That's not hypocrisy. There is no problem if someone dislikes Microsoft and is therefore upset at their money-hatting, and likes Sony and is therefore ok with their money-hatting.
Hypocrisy is when I pretend to dislike money-hatting in general but only get upset when the company I dislikd does it, but not when one I prefer does it.

Look at the last page. It is already derailed.

Okay, here we go. Incoming.

EXAMPLE 1:

ROTR Thread:

Yup people upset at MS being scummy. How is that wrong?

SF5 Thread:

Wow, seems Sony was serious about dropping bombs tomorrow. Awesome news

EXAMPLE 2:

ROTR Thread:

Lol you gotta be kidding me. Fuck you I was excited for that game.

SF5 Thread:

Megatons dropping early!? Haha love this stuff
jfep.gif

EXAMPLE 3:

ROTR Thread:

Considering the majority of the fanbase for this franchise is on Sony consoles, it all comes off as a massive middle finger to PS gamers.

SF5 Thread:

Megaton. Too bad it got leaked early. Or this an official announcement?

EXAMPLE 4:

ROTR Thread:

So it isn't timed? HAHAHA, you better suck Microsoft's dick some more, Square. Would hate to see you go bankrupt.

SF5 Thread:

I hope this isn't the "big" exclusive Sony was going to show on the 6th. Never cared for SF, so I'm hoping something better is announced at PSX.

EXAMPLE 5:

ROTR Thread:

Good luck with that, Square.

SF5 Thread:

Blown away

EXAMPLE 6: (kind of works...)

ROTR Thread:

Wow that's some fucking news to wake up to.

Crystal or SE whoever agreed to this is fucking crazy.

I'll miss ya Lara but Nathan will fill your void.

SF5 Thread:

Is this what happens when all we hear from Xbox people for 2 months is competition is good?

I hate exclusive deals like this, but oh well I love Street Fighter.

EXAMPLE 7:

ROTR Thread:

This is crap...

I have both systems, just so I can play exclusives, but there is no way I am buying this.

You have exclusives that are made in house.

You have exclusives, like the recent Sunset Overdrive, where the developer gets to keep control of their product, so staying on one system makes sense.

You have exclusives, like Bayonetta 2, where one of the big companies helps fund the game which would have never been made otherwise.

With all of these I have no problem buying the game and is the reason I own all the major systems.

Then you have crap like this where one company pays to keep the game off other systems. This is complete anti-consumer shit. This is not helping the gamer. This is not creating exciting content for your fans. This is not making me want to support your company by hiring the most talented artist in the industry and giving them a chance to wow me. This is 100% complete mafia bullshit of taking out all competition and leaving me one single choice.

fuck you I am not supporting this...

Great post.

SF5 Thread:

I wake up to this? Holy shit.

EXAMPLE 8:

The best one of them all, IMO. The OP of the SF5 thread themselves:

ROTR Thread:

Microsoft, buying games away from gamer once again. Such a sad and terrible strategy. *Sight* And Square loving money hat so much...

My eyes and fingers hurt now...

I was more showing how people that were upset at one exclusive are seemingly okay with another one just because it's going to their platform of choice, which is why i said i'm not surprised to see the change of tone in this thread compared to the TR one.
But you directly quoted and responded to Bish's request to expose the hypocrites. If your intent was not to provide examples of hypocrisy, why did you even quote Bish? Especially when you weren't even addressed in his post. Do you like running into burning buildings?

Also, as has been explained many times, there are two very different types of money-hatting. One is helping to fund a game, the other is cock-blocking competing platforms. We don't know yet which type Street Fighter 5 is.
Tomb Raider is the bad kind.

Do we really want him to go through the Titanfall thread too. It won't get better.

With all console wars arguing, some times you win some, some times you lose some.

More on track: I'm really hoping this means cross platform support. No more having to pick a system, but rather a full attempt on having PC and PS4 players play together. Steam support for this would be fantastic for streams ^_^

Those seem sufficient. Cherry pick which ones you don't think are hypocrisy, but I think in general there were a good portion of people who were hypocritical. Is it so hard to believe some people are hypocrites on here? See: Heath Ledger Joker threads.

So much hypocrisy. Great post, Pathfinder.

Also, remember last gen when "console exclusives don't matter, if it's on PC it's not exclusive"...

Wha...?
IQ's must have dropped rapidly since I went to school.

Somebody saying "I really wanted TR on PS4. Square/MS sucks!"
and then "Yay. Really looking forward to SF glad it's coming to PS4", isn't even close to being an example of hypocrisy. Most of these examples have read like that.

Hypocrisy would be much more along the lines of somebody saying, "Man, TR exclusivity sucks. I HATE ALL FORMS of exclusivity and I WON'T SUPPORT IT"
then saying "Wow. I'm SO GLAD SF is exclusive I'll be FIRST IN LINE".

The bolded bits are what's important. Good luck finding more 'evidence'.

For what it's worth, I think bought exclusivity does suck because someone somewhere is losing out for what I feel is a poor reason.
However it's something almost all of us have bought into or supported when we've lapped up products with exclusivity deals. Pandoras box is open and we can't close it.
Sometimes we'll be on the winning side, sometimes the losing side.
I prefer to be on the winning side of an exclusivity deal and its possible for me to get excited about a game which comes with an exclusivity bonus but that doesn't mean I think they are a good thing.

Yeah, remember when 360 had no games beyond 2009 and then exclusives didn't matter anymore and now that PS4 is light on exclusives, PS4 has no games.

I also liked when Xbox live was reason alone to buy a 360 and now indies aren't games. Good times.

It doesn't. I simply asked a question. You obviously put in some effort to find quotes for Bish, only to say you weren't even trying to find examples of hypocrisy like his post very clearly asks for.

Because I originally replied to the poster he quoted, I was subsequently quoted asking for posters by someone, so I did it anyways and quoted Bish.

It's basically about you and some others having trouble understanding the meaning of hypocrisy.

Are main points didn't change. The tone of the two threads are completely different. Maybe they weren't all hypocritical, but people's attitudes didn't stay consistent and that's the main point I was trying to make. Did you even read the posts Bish quoted talking about how if this was MS, people would be yelling moneyhat, etc? Also indies and PS4 not having games has nothing to do with anything said, but nice try with your post anyways.

Of course people are going to be crowing about being hypocrites for a lot of people...but both sides fail to understand that its a very bad precedent being continued by Sony here. Nobody should want to turn this industry into a bidding war for locking away third party games from other platforms, if its not a drastic situation like helping direct development of the title, or funding it to bring it out.

I only have a PS4 currently, and i am not interested at all in Xbox One, but this is not good news based on the conclusions we can draw.

I have a ps4+PC, and I don't even have an Xbox One, but I find it pretty fucked up of Capcom to accept this specific moneyhat. It's fucking Street Fighter, let everyone have it. :/

This could very well be the case here. I'm sure SF5 would have surfaced eventually, but without Sony stepping in here I don't think it would have been seen for another couple of years.

On the other hand, if the game was already in development and Sony payed to lock down exclusivity it's definitely a dick move.

Man pls stop with this witch hunt stuff...it's hardly relevant to the topic.

Bish did set them to task. This thread has always been about the console war angle to these kinds of deals, so it is relevant, bit it misses the larger point.

Lots of people understand exclusivity deals are a bit poo, no matter which side gets them because when they are successful they perpetuate the culture of moneyhatting instead of sponsoring the creation of new stuff.

It's not a precedent - it's been going on for years and Microsoft are at least as bad.
It won't go away as long as we keep buying the games.
it's just important to keep perspective.
Yes, it sucks when you lose content or even a game you were interested in but acting like you are some precious victim and pretending it's much worse for your chosen console than the 'other side' is just silly.

IMO, I doubt that Capcom would have the kind of money to fund SF V alone. They sure didn't for DeadRising 3, in which they had to have Microsoft's help.

But in fairness, the only thing we have is a leaked PS4/PC "exclusive" trailer, and a Bish-approved "yes, it IS PS4 exclusive".

We've had no word from Capcom or Sony - and that includes any official reveal of the game.

So at this point we've nothing to go on at all about what is going on bar two leaked bits of information.
I hate moneyhatting as much as the next man, but I really need more information and and official reveal and explanation before I'm going to go off the deep end.
I get the impression that a lot of posters have been circling like vultures waiting for the opportunity to shout "hypocrite" as soon as something like this happened, and perhaps they've blown their load a little early in their rush to start firing about allegations.

Not really into fighting games either, to be honest. ;)

You both don't get it.

It's more about the tone of the two articles.

In the Tomb Raider thread there was all this negativity surrounding Square and Microsoft because of the moneyhat.

In this thread, there's much much less negativity surrounding Sony and Capcom because of the moneyhat.

So while all of the examples I provided may not be textbook hypocrisy, they are examples that demonstrate the abrupt change in tone for a similar occurrence.

Why should the attitudes be identical? Not all companies are held in equal regard by everyone. So your point wasn't really hypocrisy at all but the fact that currently people prefer Sony over Microsoft, as indicated by global sales? That's quite insightful.

In this thread, we know the square root of fuck all about what's gone on.

In the TR thread, we knew that it had been announced on both PS4 and XB1.

Exactly how I feel about it. Unless Sony helped fund and it wouldn't have been made otherwise it just feels wrong given the franchise.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't a significant portion of the outrage in that thread over the vague wording of the exclusivity.
