Uncharted 4 Gameplay Demo [Up: Sony - Was running at 30 fps]

Looks like... Uncharted. Which is a very good thing. Loved the more open battleground with climbing around being an important factor in gaining advantage over enemies. Some of the environmental kills might be difficult to recognize how to pull off on a first playthrough, but I like the options they are giving the player here. Graphics do look really nice, but so far the leap from last gen hasn't been that significant imo.

I don't get some people on GAF sometimes, so quick to judge on just pre-alpha gameplay.

I'm even more hyped now for Uncharted 4 since I'm a huge fan.

You think so? The lighting looks static and a bit flat to me. Hoping it's just the YouTube compression, but after playing stuff like Assassin's Creed: Unity and Dragon Age: Inquisition, I think my standards for lighting in big budget video games has risen a bit.

Not as good as Unity, but still beautiful. Very natural looking, I kinda like the flatness.

I feel like we're at the point where they could have shown 4K video footage of a real jungle and some people would claim it was a downgrade from the E3 trailer.

Well it is a massive downgrade from what they showed at E3, but you had to be a madman to expect that they could actually produce the final game at that quality.

Now that they've finally showed the real game, I think it's still damn impressive, and actually a realistic representation of what we might get.

The problem with it looking so realistic is that the physics don't complement that feeling at all- for instance, not for a second could I believe that the metal thing could dig into the rock formation so effortlessly, or that Drake would only need push a guy against a wall to make him faint.

I don't have a problem with Drake being a great wall-climber, but the fact that the external world, which strived for realism, does not behave in such a way, seems to take away from the experience.

Very different games but I have to agree with the other poster. The Order is clearly more limited in scope but it looks damn near pre-rendered in motion. The lighting, post-fx, and animation are all very impressive.

Eh, so does this, depending on your definition of pre-rendered. The cutsence at the end for instance...the characters looked if anything better to me than those in the order.

uncharted never ran at 60 in the first place.
and almost all games on ps4 and one are struggling with even 30 fps. sometimes at 900p.

did people realy think, uc4 would be 1080p and 60fps?

ND themselves said they were targeting 60fps and the E3 teaser was running at 1080p60.

Doesn't look as good as the Order, but it looks 100x more fun. The game still looks like one of the best games this gen. To me it doesn't matter if it was a downgrade from the E3 video. I thought that was either CG, or a very tiny set in game to allow for the IQ to be so high. The complainers are going to complain. This game still looks amazing.

Bullshit. Why don't you prove it?

"Massive downgrade"? Wow...

Well it seems there is always someone eager enough to try and shit up a thread, but let's ignore them.
I thought it looked incredible and i can't wait to play it. Great environment, animations and amazing foliage.

This thread....I just don't...

Whatever, it looks great, and I was smiling like a fool the whole time. Looks like it will be great fun and taking Uncharted to the next leap. Can't wait.

To me this little snippet of game play looks more interesting than anything in the other 3 uncharted games.

And this is something that The Order should have done a long time ago.

ElTorro

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.
The character model looked exactly like the one in the trailer to me, and the transition from gameplay to "cutscene" was seamless. The lighting is different, of course, but I don't entirely get the "downgrade" concerns. The drawing distance was amazing, too.

The brother looks like Paul Blackthrone from arrow

Much of what was in the E3 trailer was also obscured by DoF

Some of the posts on this thread.... The game looks great and we have to remember it is a demo. A lot of people post crap on threads like this to get a reaction.

Well. considering the E3 footage was 60 fps and this is 30. I call that fairly massive. Not that it matters either way. The game looks great.

Looks really good for 60fps. Pretty nice AA, crappy level of AF is disappointing though.

I really like traversal.

Graphics are really good, I couldn't watch all 15 minutes without fast forwarding - gameplay was just OK - granted yes I know it's Uncharted and only 15 minutes.

Me watching the footage

My man!!!

I caught it late, so the first thing I saw was the better quality youtube upload. As soon as it started I was like, yup, this is pretty much the model from the reveal. Also the fact that the world looks huuuuuuge compared to the games before.

WTF is wrong with people!? I think people overhyped the reveal, which was pretty much a macro level close-up to highly detailed character model in a dark environment. I don't see what has been "significantly" downgraded in graphics/assets/lighting side of things.

Congrats ND!

I would agree - the order looks more high-end-cg-like than Uncharted. But UC still kills it with the complexity of gameplay animation, and most likely gameplay systems in general. Also, facial animation is notably better and more expressive in UC. You just can, as usual for their games, feel the character the moment you see them emote.

I don't know, i loved Uncharted 1 and 2 but the third was so bad and boring, while Tomb Raider reboot has been so good, way better than Uncharted 3, at least for me.
Next year it'll be pretty interesting to see them both

Can't wait to see a direct feed trailer of this. At first I was a bit bored, but the combat and level design looks VASTLY improved over UC3. Way more dynamic, more opportunities to hide, move around, etc. Definitely takes a cue from the TLOU "arena design" rather than the UC3 linear level where you start on one side of an open space and progress from cover to cover. Also liked the disarm.

I mean, it's an Uncharted game, of course there's going to be running and gunning, cover-shooting, but that looked like some mighty fun cover-shooting. Not sure what people expected.

I'm hyped, though I can agree that it does look a bit bland in terms of the close-up awesomeness of the E3-trailer. However, I've no doubt that the engine produces those graphics when in close upp cut-scenes, in real time. It's just that the LOD-change kinda shows.
