Darkstalkers' chances were low to being with, the series never really took off.
Even if they made a new game it probably would have bombed.
Darkstalkers to my knowledge has never sold remotely close to Devil May Cry's level

A franchise that hasn't had a new entry since 1997 (not including remasters), versus a next-gen franchise that had 2 releases on PS3 and xbox360, one selling nearly 3 million copies. Not to mention resurrecting and re-releasing updated DMC4 with extra content (most likely handled in house because its on their engine) versus a downloadable re-release on PSN/live that was outsourced at a small price.. They aren't comparable.
Can't really comment on how much of an improvement DMC4SE will be over the PC version but this version of DmC is far, far superior to the PC version unless you heavily modded your DmC game.
I had my DmC PC game heavily modded until I fucked some things up and now the game crashes constantly. It's not something you want to do. Having a package with all the fixes in without needing to mod is ideal.
Compared to the previous console version though, this DE makes Vanilla DmC on consoles completely irrelevant. They might as well erase that from existence.

I know, but this is Capcom's logic. I say Itsuno is working on DMC4SE and the Dragon's Dogma port.
So he should be busy. This is of course only my speculation and should I be wrong, I'd be more than happy.

I don't care if it's not a dual pack. At least it will force Cacpcom to make DMC4:SE worthwhile as it's own release.

They have major reworks and Capcom is basically is saying that is both continuites can co-exist (and if want one over another you can vote with your wallet) and the interest for the franchise is far from over.

This is a GREAT thing for both fans however since neither DmC2 nor DMC5 are confirmed people are going to misinterpret this as "we get either DmC2 or DMC5 and it depends on which one of these remasters sells more".

I actually liked DmC on PC. Some of the new content in that remaster is interesting. I really want to see 1080p and 60FPS actually be on the retail boxart.
But if you made me choose between DmC and Devil May Cry 4 I'd erase my memories of DmC immediately and just pick Devil May Cry 4 without hesitation.

What would "pretty cool" be in this case? Giving you the new versions for free?
If they aren't doing it for people who bought the original PS3/360 versions, which they aren't, because they want to make money and get paid for their work, then why would they do such a thing for PC version owners?
If you just want them to be made available for purchase on PC, then yeah, that would be cool, too.

That would be awesome but I don't expect that to happen. Maybe something like the option to upgrade it like Square-Enix did for Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut.
That said, it doesn't even seem to be announced for PC (yet?) which is weird.

Free or discounted would be cool and all, but I don't see why they have any obligation to do so specifically for PC users when no one would expect them to do the same for people who bought the games on other platforms.
But, yeah, putting out PC versions of the games would be cool.

Yep, this sound more like a Ultimate Marvel/Regular616 situation than direct competition. For my part, I will buy bought. This is actually a nice decision from Capcom. Now I will just conform with Dragons Dogma Update like this.

I'm sure this has been discussed but I REALLY hope some of the rebalancing in DmC rebalances the colour coded enemies to take damage from all weapons while in a combo or something.

The game was really good. I already played it though. No real incentive for me to go back to it.
I only played DMC 1 and 4 and enjoyed both well enough. This game essentially didn't exist to me, and even after getting it for free with PS+ earlier this year I never even bothered to download it. If the DMC faithful end up embracing this I might give it a shot.
And thank god for the DMC 1 skin. Hopefully you can apply that before you even start the game so I never have to lay eyes on that horrid redesign they were so stubborn about keeping in the game.

I am half way through the game on PC. I dont understand how people say its a bad game. I have played objectively bad games. Anyways, I totally dig how limbo just makes everything go crazy in real time.

It's not bad, but it is weak compared to the other games in the series and generally more mediocre than bad. I would have called it good even if not for some glaring design oversights (which the definitive edition seems to be fixing).
DMC4 SE makes it impossible for me to even care about it though.

Day 1 purchase. Please if you haven't tried DmC yet than go for it. Seriously one of my favorite video games of last gen. Music is amazing, graphics are stunning, story is good, combat is addictive....it's so so so good.

Because in a genre of truly excellent titles, DmC's mediocrity overwhelms it. Doesn't hurt that the game's aesthetics are truly love it or hate it, and that the games in the franchise prior are objectively superior to it in nearly every way.
Itsuno is such a perfectionist, you HAVE to think he regrets some things from DMC4 since he was rushed. I'm really looking forward to seeing if he actually ends up balancing certain moves and certain properties.
