Concept art looks really cool, but haven't played this series and the Xanadu Next gameplay footage isn't impressing me. Cautiously hyped at this point

Yooooo, what's up with this, so many japanese games lately, feels so good.

Also, I'm on the 'never played this series' team, but it looks pretty fun.

Please Vita/PS4, I love you Falcom.

Well, that was unexpected. Sounds interesting.

Tokyo Xanadu is set in “Morimiya City,” which is located on the outskirts of Tokyo. It revolves around the fates of two high schoolers, Kou and Asuka, as they traverse through Xanadu, an otherworldly labyrinth, in a grand scale story.

From gematsu.

Xanadu Next is 10 years old next year.

Realistically, they'll be building Xanadu atop their Ys platform.

Look neat. Too bad it will never be localized.
I wouldn't be so sure. XSeed has a great track record with non-Kiseki Falcom titles.
And some Kiseki titles ARE actually coming out against all odds.
I wouldn't count this one out.

By the way, I'm getting massive Shin Megami Tensei vibes. I'm certainly OK with that =D

It's nice to finally see a Falcom game that isn't Ys or Kiseki again but I was pretty indifferent towards Xanadu Next. The setting in this new one could be cool though.

No joke, the only video game that I will ever possibly care about more than this in 2015 is something about space jellyfish.

I've never played a Xanadu game, but XSEED's releases have made me a definite Falcom fan in the last few years, so this is relevant to my interests. I hope they bring it over here.

Both Falcom and Xanadu are trending right now on Twitter (Japan):

...well now.

i would be a little surprised if this was a mobile game. aren't they historically a pc developer who dabbled in consoles? i though the recent output from them was the part that was out of the norm - where they were supporting consoles and handhelds with new entries first.

falcom's a company i sort of want to like, but i just don't know where to start. i really liked ys: memories of celceta, and i totally dig them as the kind of company from a bygone era.

They used to be fully PC, but lately they've moved to PSP and now Vita as their main platform. I would expect this to be Vita/PS4 like the new Ys game, with a possible PC version in China and maybe the west (since XSEED have had success with their Falcom PC releases).

If you're looking to check out more Falcom games, you can't go wrong with Trails in the Sky (great game, and we're finally going to get the sequel soon) or the various Ys games on Steam.

Falcom ceased PC development when their relationship with their publisher went sour and they ended up having much better sales on PSP than they'd had on PC in a long time, so they're no longer a PC developer.
