DriveClub PS+ Edition Has Been M.I.A. For 100 Days

That is absolutely ridiculous.

I want to try the game before I consider buying it. I was told I'd be able to do so; I signed up for PS+. Since they did not let me do so, on principle alone I'll wait to try the game, and if I like it I'll buy it. I'm still super-hyped over finally getting to play it, but the wait has become ludicrous. If I was to buy it and not like it before the PS+ version comes out then I'd really feel like Sony had conned me with their business practices here, and I'm not going to let that happen.
you signed up for PS+ for the month for a game trial? Why not just rent the full game instead? Renting is cheaper and you have access to the full game as well. Just the game at this point if you're afriad of not liking it.

They should just cancel it and release a 1 car, 1 track offline demo and cancel the plus+ edition.

But really people gotta move on- it's a god damn demo.

It is now. But remember when it was first announced as having "most of the tracks and cars of the retail edition"? The way this thing has been handled from day one has been shameful. (Remember Rushy deleting his posts?)

I honestly don't remember that ever being the case.

What did Rushy edit anyway? Was it not just about the discounted version of Driveclub PS+ being playable as long as you were a PS+ member, which people then moaned about.

Came to post this.
It wouldn't be a bad idea either.

People would still bitch about how long it took.

Doesn't allow for the same righteous indignation.

if it never comes sony will never live it down

it will come out and be super shitty even compared to the downgraded version of what PS+ people were supposed to get

This is the thread about what Rushy/Evolution changed when talking PS+ (with sources)

Why would it be super shitty? Do you think they are changing the announced scope yet again?

You paid $50 for a subscription in advance to try a portion of a game that was coming out in retail for $60 that also ended up full release for $50 on the PSN store. Sony conned you alright.

If you re-read my post again I specifically talked about the people who didn't show faux "concern" online and who were actually genuinely interested. Not you.

If you actually felt this way than you would have no interest if this ever released coming out since because it's widely known now that the PS+ version won't come out with most tracks and cars of the retail version and strictly comment about the lack of content

I dont think they meant like "you get 80% of the game to try before you purchase" type of thing. It was like "the PS+ edition is the full game but with limits. You can try a few cars/tracks and once you purchase, everything opens up. No need to redownload. Progress transfers etc etc" I could be wrong but it made it sounds like the PS+ edition was gonna be a smooth transition to full unlocked version. Thats all.

It's severely diminished my interest in paying for it, but not necessarily in playing it for free. If this game is ever released I fully intend to download and try it.

There are two articles that said the game will be "the full game minus a few cars and tracks" the plus edition apparently is going to be missing something like 90% of the cars and tracks from the full game. I don't see how anyone could interpret 90% as "a few".

The salt over this delay is so overblown. Once it does come out the game will have had a ton of free content additions and tech/gameplay improvements.

This isnt a con, just a planning and dev fuck up.

No, Shu is a bond villian. PS+ subscribers: count your fingers!

They're probably playing it safe for a while.

The last thing they'd want to do is release the PS+ version and then have the game collapse because the servers couldn't handle it. It fucking sucks for the people who want to try it out but it is what it is.

But seriously:

Just buy it people. It's awesome.

Went on sale in the EU PSN store. Just bought it and I'm enjoying it greatly. The presentation is superb and I love the online/leveling up integration. It all appears so seamlessly interconnected.

I however wasn't completely blown away by the visuals like I expected to be, people praising it really set the bar high. Only played the first India and Chile tracks (rest is downloading) so maybe that's the reason.

It's a real shame. Though Sony has built up so much goodwill that they can even get away with lying about what comes with a Playstation Plus subscription without much flak.

Single track -> Scotland or Norway with dynamic weather is where the graphics are at.

Before release, I was really looking forward to trying out Driveclub. The thing is, I'm a guy who generally doesn't play racing games. The PS+ edition had me excited because it allowed me to do a 'try before you buy' at no cost to me.

Without the PS+ edition... it's hard for me to just blindly buy it. So I'll just keep on waiting I guess.

I wonder if they'll just skip it and eventually make Driveclub a full freebie PS+ title down the line

They should... the game has already been receiving good word of mouth from it's dedicated fans. I loved what I played of the game, but it was absolutely broken when it was in my rotation and it lost me. I think it's a great candidate as it seems to have somehow still sold reasonably well, and if it's free it may have a chance at a sequel if it ddrums up interest, question is would EVO deserve the 2nd shot at it, and is it worth it?

I'm really disappointed with how shadily this whole PS+ edition went down. It's now radio silence on the PS+ edition, and it will likely be shelved in lieu of it being a free PS+ game in a year or so. Which is fine, but it'll end up being MUCH further than the date it should have been. It's a shame sony feels the need to pull the wool over our eyes rather than directly address the delay and give us an actual release date.

I hazard to guess that most people wondering where the PS Plus edition of the game won't even play it when it is available.

Based on their history, Evolution deserves as many tries as a parent company can muster. Making the full version of the game a PS+ title is the biggest sign of goodwill they could make. I also think it maye over-reach in terms of what's reasonable for Sony to do. This is a product planned around being a retail release, so I don't (and wouldn't) expect that in the short term. That said, the situation is rough on both sides of things.

If it weren't for Sony's planning and Evo's efforts, there would have been exactly one racing title on the PS4 in DC's release window. Think about that, especially if you're an enthusiast of the genre.

I don't know why, but the title of this thread reminds me of Keith Olbermann and his counting of the days that Bush declared mission accomplished in Iraq.

If that is what you are reading into it, I dont know what to tell you. They are still optimizing the netcode for a big launch like PS plus. They obviously dont want to fuck up the second launch.

Sorry, I thought one thing and typed another. It's not that Evo doesn't think that the game is good enough, I meant to say that Evo keeps telling me that the online performance is good enough to put out a demo.

Over-reach in terms of a plus game? I dunno I was thinking it could be a surprise e-3 announcement in that we get an extra PSplus game for june and it's the plus edition of DC, only it's a full game now. By that point DC will most likely only be a 20 dollar title anyways, no?

I think I've seen the terms salt & salty used in order to somehow combat very reasonable queries and concerns like a dozen fucking times today. Is there like some kind of fan starter pack that comes with a template?

That shit aside, I want the PS+ version too, it'd be pretty nice to at least have an update. I don't care how much or how little of the game it contains, it'd be nice to ogle the visuals and have something to do on my PS4 before Bloodborne.

seriously, one of you "just buy it!!!" people, just buy it for me. someone. go ahead. put your money where your mouth is. if i really like it, i;'ll reimburse you in full. if after a week of having it, you see me playing it on the PSN or earning trophies, etc, make a thread shaming me about it. i mean, if it's so great, you'll get your money back right? check my profile, member #95

It's hilarious since the game's been on sale so many times at prices way below the proposed PS Plus upgrade price. They really missed the window on this.

Whenever anything Driveclub related is posted, half the comments are of people complaining that the PS+ version isn't out yet.

Anybody interested in the game should just buy it already. It's well worth it.

Or we could hold them to their word.
