Canadian Gaming Deals and Discussion Thread 5: Much Ado Aboot Shipping

Man, I really regret not buying more eshop, PSN cards during the 25% off sale at target, no way we are going to get anything like that again right? Was it a price error?

I only got 2 eshop and 1 psn $50 cards, I remember some people buying $2k worth of cards and thinking they were insane.

Nobody ruins my family vacation but me...and maybe the boy!
Not sad to see them go, but I'd like something to fill those mall spots. Is Kmart going to try next?

I'm sad, less shopping options for Canadians now.

It's worse because I went to their location at Place d'Orleans a couple weeks back and they actually improved quite a bit over the last year, I'm surprised that they're pulling out considering how much money they've invested in their Canadian stores.

But I also don't understand their strategy, did they really expect to come in to Canada and be instantly successful without trying? Expanding as fast and quickly as they did without making a name for themselves was also an extremely poor decision IMO.

The Target in our big shopping mall here in St. Catharines just got finished like 6 months ago. Has that cool escalator thing for shopping carts. They literally ripped apart about a 5th of the mall and completely customized it for Target. And now it's closing. Jesus fucking christ.

Hey, fellow St. Catharines resident here!

And yes, this has to be a big blow for the Pen. Though I think Target has been finished for more like a year hasn't it?

I'm going to need to get a US buddy to get me at least one Rosalina. Need a sealed NA one for the complete set... :/

I can import the one I open.

I really don't think that eshop/PSN card sale was an error.

If it was, there was a decision to keep it going at some point.

I believe it was supposed to be 10% like the XBL cards. I also bought $150 worth of cards for $112 or so. If I didn't just buy a house, I would've bought more.

Oh, I'm sad to see Target go. It offers a much better shopping experience than Walmart (Walmarts feel trashy IMO) and holds generally better quality products.

I go there often for my son, the children's clothing is well made, mostly cheap and looks good. :(

Guys FYI, just refreshed the EB games amiibo page and the Mario Party 10 bundle with the Mario amiibo is up...

Hopefully the rest of the newly announced figures to follow.

Edit: Looks like it has been taken down?

Why is everyone saying they won't be able to buy Rosalina now? I know Target is closing but surely they'll still get in some inventory.

I got my PS4 from the Target at Bramalea City Center last February. Warranty runs out next month, but the PS4 seems to be fine so far. I hope it continues to function well in the future

TBH I'd rather have a walmart in the mallI live near that has a Target there. Target takes up a lot of the mall too pretty funny that it's already going. Expected though. Prices weren't great, selection was hit or miss. No real reason to shop there other than maybe some niche things/convenience.

pretty shitty for the people working at Target :(

Haven't spent a penny at their Canadian operation. The one at Metrotown in Burnaby wasn't great at all

Time to start looking for a new job, lol... Sigh. Fun fact :because of this thread I was the very first person to find out in my store earlier today... Before the managers even.

you work in retail? I wonder whats the atmosphere like today?

If I were a manager there, I'd ask the employees there to loot some of the more expensive merchandise.

Wow. This is painful.

Seriously there are locations that opend in 2014 and this happens.

Hey I'm also St. Catharines GAF.

That Target caused a lot of trouble driving on Glendale for a while.

EDIT: We should form a St. Catharines GAF community.

It seems like Target figured things out too late in terms of getting their stock and pricing right. They had some really good deals over the past year (in terms of games at least), and I'll actually be sad to see them go. I wonder what the hell they're going to put in that gigantic location at Stockyards in Toronto now.

Everyone needs to tweet @NintendoCanada to ensure Rosalina is available, if not at Target then elsewhere

Tweeting probably won't generate any response, but if you start e-mailing NOA customer service you will at least get a reply.

where the hell can I buy Rosalina now

hoping for a clearance on XBL/PSN/eShop cards. Gonna stock like it's the apocalypse

They have no reason to do clearance on cards. It's just pieces of cardboard that they can throw away at nearly no cost because the codes are only activated at sale.

Oh god i'm torn... I just verified I can preorder the red 3ds at best buy and doing that I save $75

But I also have a majoras mask that like my pikachu i'd be afraid to play outside or in public cause of the value.

Well, they already purchased them at this point. If they sell them at regular price they won't generate anymore income for liquidation. If they drop the price by $5 they will sell by the tons and generate more revenue allowing Target to at least recoup on more of the cost of the initial purchase of the cards.

I don't know what they will get for sending them back to the vendor. That may be the better option.
