Safe, familiar, boring and predictable. This is the mindset of the mainstream consumer.

I swear, Minecraft hasn't moved off of the top ten since its release on the Xbox 360 back in 2012. It has the longest legs in the game industry.

It's nice to see that this is the Wii-U's best sales month in its entire life cycle up to this point, though. Even if Nintendo didn't have any games in the top ten.

Except Smash? We just heard 4-7 of the top software SKUs were Smash Wii U /3DS and Pokemon OR/AS.

Well...........here's the last thing I heard about that title. This was back in about August though.

It looks like Treyarch were pushing for / wanting current gen only but that Activision was looking at doing all 4 platforms still. They were going to gauge sales attach for Advanced Warfare to make their final decision.

This could not be 100% accurate as of now though so take it with a grain of salt. No idea what direction they finalized going in.

EDIT: Also I'm assuming its BO3. I was just told that for Treyarch's title this is what they are looking at. The name BO3 wasn't explicitly said.

Interesting, thanks. It would be very surprising if they did that really (next-gen only) and I can't really them doing it but it would definitely get a big adoption for next-gen next holiday if they did.

Top ten has been looking the same since forever now, minus a few new games.

It's one of the main reasons why many publishers continue to love the PS/Xbox ecosystems even as iOS and PC boom and even as development costs continue to rise: the tastes of PS/Xbox consumers are very predictable. Businesses like reliability.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
Cream could you comment on Bayonetta 2 please?

Or anyone else for that matter

250k not counting digital is pretty good for that game.

I'm really happy for it; I thought it would of sold less than Japan's 150k LTD so I'm pleasantly surprised it sold much more!

You know, going back to Nintendo... I actually do think Nintendo isn't doing enough with their IPs. I mean, right now is the era of '80s and '90s nostalgia in mass media and merchandise and the era where video games in particular are big business. Nintendo, being a major player in video games during the '80s and '90s, should be making bank in mass media and merchandise. In addition, there has yet to be decent successful adaptations of video games in film, which is the predominant media for the success of other nostalgic '80s and '90s properties. I think there is a great opportunity for Nintendo in particular to expand in terms of mass media and merchandise by following a model similar to what other companies like Marvel, Hasbro, and LEGO have done in regards to mass media and merchandise. Nintendo can still be primarily focused on their console and handheld video game business as well as their card game business and Amiibo, but they would do well licensing their properties to companies like LEGO and Funko who benefit from making toys with pop culture licenses. Heck, having a LEGO Nintendo line would have the added benefit of letting TT Games make video games for the Wii U and 3DS based on the LEGO Nintendo line and published by Nintendo. If Nintendo can do that, they'd likely be somewhat successful and keep their IPs in the minds of people for when they launch their next systems.

After 14 months:

Wii: 7.4m
PS4: 6.7m
XBO: 6.2m
PS2: 5.3m

Next month, the PS2 (at 7.3m) will finally cross streams with the PS4 (and the Xbox One again).

PS2 holds the record for home consoles* second December for at least another generation with 1.95 million. Wii did 1.35m.

*Overall best second December is GBA with 2.1m.

Yeah nobody should be crying or justifying their consoles sales. Both are better then the PS2 but behind the Wii. Not a lot of justifiable shit talking to be had.

But there is no Banderas gifs, or new members to the Knack brigade. No chalkboards either. You can go ahead and circle Xbox holliday premotions 2014.

But this is all in good fun. PS4 is dominating worldwide, and Xbox is doing really well for itself. And this good for all of us.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker will become a million seller worldwide, that's something that Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze may fail to achieve.

Really?

Crazy.

Actually if I'm not mistaken, Toad is the 3rd highest opening for a Wii U game in the US this year... yeh, over DKC & Hyrule. Crazy right?

For USA or WW?
USA

It still has a ways to go though. 250K US + 130K from JP thus far is still far shy of 1M. 500K probably is likely including the rest of the world though.

So happy to see these numbers from cream. Did my part for Captain Toad and KH2.5. Also really glad to see that Smash made it into the Annual numbers. Sorted out by platform and alot oF Nintendo exclusives did very well!
