Last week i started trying a bit for advanced technics basis, i can't even do a 3 hits Yamato Jump cancel combo because i end stepping on the enemy and then he falls :(
Seriously, sometimes i think DMC4 has a really Fighting game combat deepness.

Saved for future arguments.

I'm sorry guys but compared to other DMC highlight video this is the equivalent posting a God of War video using nothing but [],[],/\. This is just above bottom of the barrel skill, where they player has just figured out how to break the game and spam the same moves over and over again and has memorized enemy attack timing. It has absolutely no creativity.
Here's a tutorial on guard flying to get you started..

He's using all the styles: trickster fod air dash and teleports, gunslinger for the head down spinning shoots and pandora's rocket launcher, royal guard for flying guard cancelling, swordmaster for rebellion's aerial rave and darkslayer for yamato's aerial combos. He's also using all the weapons (to be sincere I didn't see the shotgun in there but probably I missed it) and he's using all the more advanced techniques while avoiding the attacks. I think it's very far from a simple 3 hit combo...

You also have to take into account that he's fighting bosses, so they can't be launched or affected in funny ways by his attacks and the things he can do against them are pretty limited...if you can call limited to what he showed in the video.

It really isn't *that* difficult to do. It's understandable why some people find it boring to watch. You don't need to show video proof that you can do it. It's simply boring to watch. It's akin to early popular DMC3 videos which just involve launch - jc with one weapon - jc with another weapon - finish.

Doing this in DMC3 would be a lot more impressive since Enemy Step is a lot more difficult to pull off on bosses. It doesn't change the fact that it would look boring to people, both players and non players alike.

Most of DMC3's bosses are also not particularly good and straight-up wouldn't allow this kind of thing.
And it's definitely harder than those early DMC3 videos, I would say.

Yeah, well, I'd like to see him beat Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker without touching the ground!
It could be any other more appropiate example but nope, lol.

I can only get so close to this level of expertise on Gundam vs Gundam Next Plus. But DMC? In-sane.

I love it!

Love the Devil May Cry series (haven't played the DmC remake) and this makes me feel like I'm back to square one. But that's a good thing :) Makes me want to get better!

How I wish Dante had more attacks mid-air than simply Square, Triangle and O. DMC5, where art thou?

Arkham, Cerberus, Gigapede
are not well-designed bosses. Trying to SS DMD M19 is such a frustrating experience.

Arkham is the great blob king of shitty boss fights. Gigapede is also terrible. What of it? It's two out of 16 total fights. Anyway, if you're trying to argue DMC3 has worse bosses than DMC4, 4 still has plenty of shit boss fights. The danger room, Sanctus, and the fucking Savior are almost as bad as Arkham.

Yeah, it's a lot more than two. The only DMC3 bosses who let you go nuts are Agni and Rudra, Cerberus, and maybe Beowulf. The rest all have stupid conditions you need to fulfill to do damage to them or just repeat patterns over and over again. Nevan is repetitive, Doppleganger is really boring, Geryon just runs in a circle, Leviathan Heart doesn't even attack other than shooting lasers, Lady just runs away and has you fighting the camera and the room layout as much as you fight her. Weaknesses make no sense (why are 4 or so bosses weak to Cerberus, anyway?), and often the most-effective strategy is just to jump-cancel Aerial Cross as fast as you can. They're not broken or really "bad"," but pretty boring, especially compared to the standard combat.

I would rather fight Berial than any of the DMC3 bosses. DMC4 has less bosses, most of whom (Credo, Berial, ice frogs, Echidna, Dante) are all pretty interesting and varied. Sanctus is stupid and the Savior is awful, but it's more of a terrible level based around the Savior than an actual boss fight.

The developer should be commended for developing an engine that allows for so much depth that even years after the game is released, players are accomplishing new things. Amazing stuff.

Love the music.

Not even in the same ballpark

Yeah, it's at least higher than DMC3 Vergil.

My problem with bosses like Berial, Echidna and Dagon is that I feel like I'm just beating up a slow-moving punching bag. :/

I find Geryon interesting. I think it's pretty cool once he starts spamming the Quicksilver orbs. He does run around a lot, but if you're aggressive enough you can stop him right on his tracks instead of waiting for him to take a rest. If you're really aggressive you can lock him for the entire fight. I'm not sure you can break Echidna out of her "fly around for 10 minutes" segments.

That explains why you don't get it.

Why don't you look at the top left HUD and see that it's changing the name of the style? He has to be changing Styles mid combo to keep himself afloat. Slash in the air? That's Swordmaster style. Teleport? That's Trickster style. Rainstorm (twirling gun move)? That's Gunslinger style. Wide arc slash in the air with the katana type wepaon? That's Darkslayer style. And in between the slashes he is doing something called an enemy step cancel in order to keep himself afloat and reset his air actions (otherwise you can only do one teleport in the air and one double jump). He is also swapping weapons (Lucifer, Rebellion even Gilgamesh).

Replicating what he's doing in that video is extremely difficult and it's obvious to anyone who has played and beaten the game while understanding its core mechanics.

By playing the game hardcore for years.

Ah ok, thanks for the explanation! That's more complicated than I thought. =)

DMC3 Vergil is the shit, higher damage output with way better dodging capabilities than Dante. His moveset being "lesser" than Dante's isn't a con or negative in of itself, Vergil gets shit done quickly and is still stylish while doing it.

Getting S ranks with Vergil is way easier than getting S ranks with Dante.

Everyone posting and reading this thread is reminded to look forward to DmC DE (yes folks it's going to be very good even from a game play perspective) and DMC4SE on PS4/XB1.

What I want for DMC4 is more weapons, and being able to equip 2 or 3 weapons rather than always 3. Never going to happen, obviously. It seems like it's more fun to be good at than DMC3, but it's also so much less lenient and more complicated. Just repeatedly jump-canceling divekicks is difficult in DMC4.

Aside from Virgil in bloody palace I already had the DE when it released on PC.

This video strangely just makes me excited for the DmC Remaster. Loved that game and can't wait to play it with all the improvements.

Post's contribution to the thread was very lame...

On topic: If MLG tournaments for single-player stuff were a thing (they aren't, are they?), this guy be there...

While not technically MLG, YouTube "TrueStyle tournament". These are competitions do all of all of the hack 'n' slash/spectacle fighters. This ranges from DMC to God Hand to Viewtiful Joe to Bayonetta to Metal Gear Rising to Dynasty Warriors. The tournament itself is a basically a combo video to display your and skills and see what other people can do in their chosen game. Everyone is general respectful of the game you play. Really good community.
I entered 2 years ago with DmC with positive feedback.

Definitely check it out. The video posted in OP is just one of the many players out there for DMC4.
