New Resident Evil Revelations 2 Gameplay

How out of touch are Capcom to think that the relatively positive fan reception for revelations 1, meant that adding constant ai partners, RE6 style mini campaigns, linear level design ( based of what I've seen so far ) and f2p stuff, would be the right direction? Like, I can't fucking even begin comprehend the logic they're using.

Fucking just go bankrupt Capcom, so someone can pry the IP from your cold dead hands and do something worthwhile with it.
Smells like.... Ether.

This is so, so sad..

To clarify, it says that if you die between checkpoints you can use "life crystals" to continue from where you died instead of restarting the whole section.

It also says that life crystals can be bought with real money (ugh) OR by playing "challenges", so paying is not really necessary.

... while this is even beyond sadness. Why Capcom, why :(

After seeing the Barry footage I think I'm going to enjoy the shit out of this game, it looks very similar to what RER1 did with its gameplay loop.

However I have a sneaking suspicion that reviewers will blow this game up. Incoming 67/100 MC.

Yeah, looks like Rev with the worst parts removed/toned down, screw the reviews. It's gonna be an easy scapegoat for them (pretending to be critical), now that it's ordinary to call the series out (while back when RE5 came out, reviewers were still too wimpy to acknlowedge blatant awfulness).

Constant AI partners aren't good, but also were in Rev1 and there thankfully is nothing RE6 about the SP campaign (if anything, it looks like an improved version of Rev1, with only 2 campaigns and none of them being a fullblown shooting gallery like the minisodes of Rev1). The first Claire chapter introduced has shown no more linearity than the Jill campaign in Rev 1. F2P is shit, although I really don't care about proper old school punishment, I just really don't want to see any dumb pop-ups asking me whether I want to buy this shit.

It looks good to me minus the whole buying checkpoints...lol.

I haven't really been following this game, can someone tell me if that scanner from the first Revelaitons is back? I did not like that thing

"My name's Barry."
"Barry?"
"That's right. Don't wear it out."
"I won't."

Fantastic.

Nevermind that this exchange is happening while two gigantic and gross looking spider creatures come crawling along the rocks that Barry slashes with his knife. Both completely unphazed. See, this is the bullshit I hate about this cinematic nonsense. Just takes me out of it completely.

Is it just me or are they trying too hard to be The Last Of Us?

The inspiration seems pretty blatant. Although the moment the characters open there mouths you realize that Capcom isn't exactly Naughty Dog when it come to writing dialogue.

I'm already thinking about |OT| titles

You know Barry, this residence is EVIL

RE REV2 starring Tobey Maguire's sister
The Last of EVIL

This needs to happen.

The fact that players dying may directly lead to more income will certainly have no impact on how the game is designed.

Absolutely terrible. I've purchase every RE so far, including 6 when it came out and have had no regrets, but no way I'm buying this game with that kind of nonsense in a game I purchased. I was going to buy this even though it only looked meh, because despite their idiocy sometime, I like their IPs, but I won't support this.

You didn't have a constant companion in Rev 1. yes there are sections where you have npcs following you, but most of the time you run around on your own.

The campaign structures reminds me of RE6 in the sense that the overall campaign is split between seperate characters/stories/locations. The whole episodic thing they're doing could also very easily feel like different chapter from RE6 depending on what each episode contains.

The footage I've seen honestly just makes it look like pretty damn linear sections. I've not seen a map being brought up in the footage I've watched once, and granted, I've not watched all the footage. If there is actually footage of a proper oldschool style RE map, or screenshot, I would love to see it, or just tell me if there is one really.

wow this looks really bad.....Capcom can't do RE without Mikami that much is confirmed to me now. They need to let RE go and just give us remakes of 2 and 3. ReRemake style update that is.

They are making mandatory micro-transactions... to use checkpoints? Am I understanding that right? As in unless you pay (or earn them in Raid mode) that if you die you have to start the entire chapter again? So no mid-chapter saving either?

What, are there going to be terrible difficulty spikes and turn it into an unfair arcade-era game too?

Don't know if this has been mentioned or posted in another thread but over night Capcom put up this video detailing aspects of Revelation 2's Raid mode on their Youtube channel.

What? Being alone was the exception, like during a portion at the beginning, in which they still had some nagging dialogue through radio. There's way less characters/campaigns in this title than in RE6/Rev1 and probably locations too. And while the Barry portion seems straight forward, it at least isn't completely over the top like RE6 and Rev1 mini episodes. First Claire portion seems to have unlockable doors, key collectables and whatnot, at least to a similar extent as Rev1.

We know the gestures are from Lost Planet 2.
But they say in the video that they were done in the mocap studio during development.
Someone is lying .

also lmao wow at the life crystals thing
that does not give me any faith whatsoever for dd: online
Holy shit.....
They were just revealed at the Spanish presentation event. You have to pay to continue if they kill you mid-chapter, if not you have to start that chapter again from the start.

HOLY SHIT! Capcom why? ._. How could you think this is a good idea?!

Raid Mode in RER2 takes place in a battle simulator that recreates locations from past RE games.

Really and they pick that level!!!, wtf. Its a cool idea though.

Looks like they based the character model of Barry on the actor from the last res evil film....

Graphics are dissppointing, but gameplay looks interesting. Think I'll buy the physical edition day one with all the episodes on PS4.

Having people talk to you via radio is not the same as having an ai partner permanently present that that you have to worry about getting in the way or dieing.

Having less characters and campaigns also doesn't change the fact that they've split the game up into seperate campaigns with different stories, characters etc. Like they did in RE6.

If the game is actually as non linear as RE 1-3 and Revelations, I'll be happy. So far I just don't feel I've seen any indication that will be the case.

Why no motion blur ?

It was the best feature of the MT framework and give a pretty good look to the games. RE revelation 2 is really ugly and look more like ps2 game than ps3...

The pre-rendered cutscenes at the beginning are what i'd expect a next gen resident evil game to look like in realtime.

Game is also cross gen. Hope the next mainline installment isn't cross gen, and the last of us influences are pretty obvious. Wonder how this game might have been with the classic camera angles instead of the 3rd person one, might have been a good way to test the waters for that. Might pass on this one depending on the reviews.

I'm pretty sure the Revelation games aren't meant to be cutting edge. I'd expect RE7 to look much better. All of Capcom's big budget games look phenomenal.

The game looks like a budget title and has a budget price to match.

Why the outrage for an option to use real money to buy a P2W item?

Never forget, "moist barrel of fucks" is in the game

They are not even trying to make those gestures fit. Way behind the taunts in other games. Just terrible looking.

No interest in buying continues, which actually makes the game more interesting to me. Make it very punishing and have the scrubs pay to be scrubs, kind of like an arcade game. We'll see if it is balanced like this though.

Really hoping they reveal RE7 soon.

I actually have no issue with charging for continues since I know I wouldn't be buying them anyway. The game just doesn't look very good though. I was pretty forgiving of Revelations 1 for being a handheld game. But this looks like it's still being designed in the same manner for no good reason. The enemies still have that same absurdly sluggish and lethargic movement about them, they don't look fun to fight.

Video that has more missions shown in Raid Mode:

I am honestly considering buying this game on PSN just to mess around in Raid mode and not even bother with the main campaign.
The game does not look too good. It's an obvious budget title, and it shows. But the game is only $20 for me on PSN, that's low enough for me to just mess around in Raid mode for a while.
