I own a few of these "Shar Pei" when I was little, people say they smell but I didn't notice it, but fuck they look so cool.

poor shar peis. no dog should have to have regular facial-fold cleaning.

someone is about to post that crazy tibetan motherfucker with the mane.

? the coat is thick, but they stretches out as they grow into adult.

Ah, that's miles better. Now that's a dog! Didn't know that was just an effect the young ones had. I just really don't like the 'Lumpy" look that lots of dog breeds have. They look nasty and they usually come with a bunch of health problems, too. My mom loves St. Bernards but some of them have such thick skin and are so lumpy they look disgusting to me. And they probably all have major health problems, too. I miss the old st. bernards back before we screwed them up.

I'm not sure about the specific breed of the dog that guy linked but I remember the shar pei I spent time with as a kid while my family lived with friends briefly had plenty of folds to it's skin. You can do a google search as well. Granted it looks more intense on the infants due to their size but they definitely don't grow out of it in all cases.

Edit: actually it's funny looking through the image search, pic of an adult shar pei OP posted showed up as well. It's interesting though cause it almost looks as though the pictures of dogs with the least amount of skin folds as an adult are always grey. The dog I spent time with was tan and it had plenty of folds, always got a kick out of holding a big fold of skin with the dogs short fur lol, but anyway... Just thought that note was interesting.

Argh, cropping ears is so awful. :( Docking tails too.
Ya docking tails is bad. My dog (not from us) had hers done with the rubber band technique and it scarred her for life. With certain bully breeds, cropping the ears is a good thing if they are growing up with other dogs of the same type like pits or staffys. If you don't, they can get chewed off by the other dogs when they play. I've seen it happen, its not pretty. But its not nice to just do it for the look.
