Nintendo announces the New 3DS XL for North America to be released February 13

Can you pre-order these in-store at Best Buy?

There's a store not too far from me that I want to pick it up from when it releases, but they aren't available for online store pickup (at least not yet).

So guys.

I'm going to be swapping a Nintendo ID over to the New 3ds which will come preloaded with Majora's Mask.

I'm also going to upgrade the memory card.

How do I do this without losing Majora's Mask!?

Well he said it might have something to do with glasses as he wears them, which I can totally see being a thing.
I did a test for fun and yeah it does track you better with glasses off.
That was a fun test.
Granted I had to tilt it 45 degrees or more before losing it.

I finally got a chance to try it. Wow @ the much improved 3D effect.

Night and day for me.

May start playing on 3D now.

The MM system doesn't come with the game preloaded, the only New 3DS that has a game is MH4 iirc (at least in the US).

I did not want to come off as negative, I love the regular n3DS. Not crazy about XL though since it loses some of the best new features.
Also trust me I think most people will not like the C-Stick. I cannot imagine camera controls with it.

Hrm. This is somewhat scaring me as I'm heavily looking forward to the new 3DS XL's improved 3D and I wear glasses. I guess it's time to ditch these old scratched-up glasses.

EDIT - Forgot my local Gamestop is showing a demo on new 3DS XL this Saturday. I'll find out then!

prepping card if it's larger than 32gb (i know it wasn't mentioned, but it helped me out as I prepped for the same thing you are)
"what you need to know before switching to a new 3ds"
thread about transferring to the new 3ds but wanting to save the preloaded game, just as you are describing.

When you do a system transfer to a system that has preinstalled software, the software will be deleted in the process but the license will be absorbed into your NNID. All you have to do (when the process is over) is go to the eShop and redownload the software. It will be free. Just make sure you DO NOT make a new NNID on your New 3DS before the transfer.

Yeah I will say play it before commiting one way or another. Faster load times are great in Smash. Might make a comparison video of it.

That'd be great. I saw comparison videos with MH4 and I'm frankly amazed. Considering with Xenoblade and MH4 I'm planning to spend at least 450+ hours with the handheld, I think I'd be fine even without the 3D.

It would still be a giant bummer.

So you already have the console? I played the Majora's Mask demo with it and I loved it for camera control

I think you will still get 3D overall. You can move the system around just fine, but gyroscope + 3D might not happen.
That is all I am really saying.

Oh, there is a demo in Japan eshop? May have to DL it.

My Gamestop has already replaced their old 3DS XL with the N3DS XL as the display model. I was messing with it a bit on Friday afternoon. The new nub stick was not quite what I expected.

sure nintendo , just send the LE away randomly .

while im struggling to find one.

Don't be jelly. The guy doesn't even play Zelda, as he himself said. Would you really expect NOA to send those rare, miserably hard to find Zelda items to a fan who does play Zelda?

The part that gets me is all he wanted was a red one, albeit for free. So they send him the MM LE. Must be nice to get free stuff like that.

Yeah, it is very stiff. Like imagine notebook mouse nubs but feels like an eraser.
Think I like the CCP more.

Can anyone answer my question???

It should. I just bought and prepped that exact card. Use these instructions to reformat it and get it ready. All you will need is one of these, because that SD card doesn't come with one:

If you do happen to get an adapter, you can transfer all your 3DS stuff to it now and use it with the adapter in your current 3DS. Then, when you transfer systems to your New 3DS, you'll be able to just swap cards, as explained here. Just click on the "micro SD card (any size)" part on the bottom.

You should be fine so long as you remember to format the microSD card to FAT32 before using it as it comes formatted by default as exFAT which is not supported by the new 3DS.

Any micro sd card should work, it's just the proper filesystem needed which in this case is FAT32.

I've got a memory card/transfer question.

I recently upgraded my memory card in my 2DS to a 64GB micro SD card. It's in an SD card adapter, obviously.

When I get a New 3DS, can I just transfer my NNID and save data, then switch cards? Or do I have to do something much more annoying? I didn't see anything on Nintendo's site about switching Micro SDs. Thanks for any help!

Edit: looks like my question was answered about four posts ago. Thanks

This seems like a good deal!

I am starting fresh... never owned a 3ds before.

Should be able to. I pre-ordered one at my local store a week or so ago. The guy I talked to looked up the BB website and saw they were still available, so he locked in a pre-order for one. Looks like all they do is set an allocation for it based on what's available at corporate. X number of pre-orders means X amount shipped to the store, that kind of thing. He said I could pick it up release day, so I'm happy.

I went ahead and bought an extra 3DS charger on eBay for $5 shipped and a microSD card to replace my current normal SD card (16gb, which should be fine since I prefer physical games). I'm pretty much ready to go.

I think I'm going to buy my N3DSXL at Best Buy and just take the $20 hit in trade credit at Gamestop so I won't have to deal with system transfers on their terms.

I really do wish the original N3DS was coming stateside though. It looks sooo much better and the faceplates are awesome.

Are your glasses anti-glare? Maybe that helps.

For those worrying about wearing glasses with the 3D effect - I can use mine on the bus on full blast with zero issues.

Every now and then it may at first wig out a little while it thinks, but if you move your head a around a bit for it to get a fix, it sorts itself out and sticks with it.

(Though I can't speak for those who have very thick glasses)
