I feel like if they keep doing Mario Party they should open it up to non premium members and do it as a charity donation thing.

Give them some motivation to keep with it ya know? And I bet this dumb thing could raise a little bit for a good cause.

I'm not sure why they would have needed a daily schedule. They non-endurance endurance runs they've been doing have not been daily and no one seems to mind.

I was speaking solely to the idea of "Endurance Run" as a feature. Branding something as an ER implies a daily schedule, which is part of why I think they stopped doing those in favor of full playthroughs under different names (e.g. Metal Gear Scanlon).

You posted that at the worst possible time, right before a live show and at the bottom of the page :p

I like it, well done. If you have some time, you should add some text while whatshisface is yelling.

I missed this reply sorry.

Ha yeah it kinda went down like a lead balloon...

Unfortunately my gif making skills are severely limited. Using gifcam to record and trim each segment consecutively is about the extent of my ability. Also he's saying "please, drop the gun", and dan isn't holding a gun, so there's some conceptual problems with it too :p

I'm pretty sure jeff has said that fully playing through brand new games isn't something he thinks is appropriate after Deadly premonition. Also they don't want to be known as the Atlus LPers.

How miserable MP3 makes Jeff is the best part imo, there's a moment in the game where it really looks like it comes close to breaking him. I don't think I'd enjoy the Mario Party content if they were all in the same mood as Dan.

While that's certainly true (and I love the way Jeff acts when he doesn't like something), I had just heard that it got pret-ty bad this time around. So.

Watching Unplugged: D&D now and Drew's idea for his character led to the name Slumdog Drewllionaire appearing unbidden in my mind. -.-

Honestly, at this point, I wish they would just stop the whole MPP thing.

The joke was funny but it ran its course. There's nothing funny about watching people borred out of their mind playing a game for 4 hours.

I ended up skipping most of MPP3 because it was too boring.

The irony with this is that MGScalon clearly suffered from Drew having days in between sessions and forgetting controls and mechanics in the process. The series greatly benefited whenever they would sit down and tape 2-3 episodes in a row.

That last mail bag was great but... Jason's camera work in the first half was driving me crazy. The camera is zoomed in so tight and is darting around everywhere and spent most of the time switching between in focus and out of focus. I was wishing they went back to the Iphone video. It was a bit better when drew took over.

A P5 ER (which won't ever happen) done on a weekly/biweekly basis wouldn't even be done in a year.

Yeah and I don't think it would/could be what people think they want. The p4 er was good because it was (mostly) a completely new thing for them to play through. That can't really be replicated by playing another of the same type of game.

I hope people don't bother Jeff about P5 to the point of alienation, because him (and maybe Jason and Drew) are probably the only people in the office who would potential play that game to completion. Vinny would probably be more eager to play it, but wouldn't be able due to how busy he is with being a father. Brad just kind of fooled around with Golden because of how associated GB became with P4, and there's no way either Alex or Dan would give it anymore than a quicklook.

There's also the possibility he won't like it because no P4 cast, but considering he gave positive reviews to the first entries to the series, I can see that this could potentially interest him.

Yeah, it was funny the first time and amusing the second time. Given that everyone but Dan checked out since the outcome of the game is essentially random, it's just not that interesting any more.

It's weird, but I miss Patrick's daily streams. Not that I would ever try to master Spelunky, but it was fun watching someone learn a game over a long period of time.

Honestly, Dan or Jason are the two most likely I think to actually play through Persona 5. Remember that Dan played and liked Fire Emblem.

I am holding to my opinion that Jeff will not be super fond of it. Jeff loved the Persona 4 cast, first and foremost. I always got the impression that he was never super fond of the game mechanics, but also din't dislike them enough that they got in the way.

People are going to bother GB so much about a Persona 5 Endurance Run. Bummer.

Wonder if any of them are even willing to give it a shot when it comes out, outside of a QL or something.

I hope not. But I know I'm in the minority of not really getting the endurance runs of longer games (Dark Souls, Persona, etc).
The only ones I've enjoyed are the old PC games (Bioforge, Phantasmagoria)

Much prefer them to do a couple of old PC games than spend all their time in Persona or Bloodborne.

Also, not that fussed about daily streams, but that's because I just don't have the time to watch every day.

Damn. I stop following gaming news for like a week and come back to this? On board!

Speaking of not following game-related stuff, I re-upped my GB subscription after it was inactive for about a month. What did I miss?

I respectfully disagree.

the suffering of the crew because of that shitty game was always the best part and it continues to ring true here. Also the moment to moment shenanigans like Drew's star steal and that ending in the last one.

It will all depend on how much of that suffering they are willing to endure but it also might not last, especially since the next game is being hailed as the fucking worst.

As for Persona 5 i honestly don't care about an ER and would be fine if it went though the normal GB cycle (QL, bombcast discussions before/during, possible review).

It's the exact same thing though? At least the fun of watching Alex suffer through bad games is that the games are different.

I don't know jack about the Mario Party franchise, but I assume it's all terrible minigames and RNG over and over again.

Brad got booked as the same role as Jeff in Mario Party 3. This was a mistake. It upset the great balance of the first two parties that made them hilarious and worth watching.

He needs to go back to his previous role as the guy who hates the game but is also into it and the competition.

But he knows that it's pointless, which is why he doesn't care about the outcome. He's a guy who is literally there because he's being paid to sit there for four hours, not because he wants to be there. If I wanted to see that, I could just sit at a McDonalds all day and watch the clerks.

Brad made it pointless when he refused to put his lordship as a stake. The burrito bet had a huge payoff at the end of Mario Party 2.

That's a little disturbing, but I like it. Good work, graboids!

Just noticed the PlayStation Home wake is premium-only. Were any of the previous ones? I know some of them pre-dated the premium membership launch but I don't remember any of them being exclusive...

Very nice :O

Who?

Seriously though that's just one person compared to a group of people plus there was a small hope that the next game might be better than the last (although it sounds like the next one isn't).

As said though the moment they break is when this nightmare will be over, but i'll continue to watch until then.

Yeah, and he lost because of RNG bullshit. lol

it isn't 100% RNG bullshit though since its fucking obvious Dan knows to play the minigames which can give him the edge over the others.

So whenever the RNG stuff appears he's either doing better due to it working in his favor or doing slightly worse when it doesn't.

He does seem to write a disproportionate number of articles about resident evil compared to other games.

It is part of Kotaku's new direction of each editor concentrating on a few game series so they don't just review a game and never mention it again. Patrick is covering RE and Dark Souls/Bloodborne. The aim is to cover games more deeply.

I know it won't happen, but a Dan/Jeff play through of Persona 5 would be the bomb diggety.

while it'll never happen, this would be amazing because then jeff would have to be The Big Anime Fan who explains to dan all of the honorifics and japanese cultural stuff he picked up from P4

Oh right, forgot about that. I guess it's interesting in theory but there is only so much you can write about a game like a resident evil remake before you have to write about silly stuff like this

It's Kotaku, it doesn't matter, it will get lost in the flood anyway.

Wishing for a Persona 5 ER is as useless as wishing Cara would be the new news editor. Fun to speculate maybe, but we all know it will never happen.
