Essentially the title, it was announced early last year, and was due later that year. I know people often criticize the game because of certain reasons, but I'm rather interested in trying it myself.

So I'm rather curious, specially since they're working on Tacoma now, so it makes me wonder if they silently killed this, hoping nobody would remember it heh. Anybody know anything? I did a quick search, and the only news of the console versions seem to be from their announcement from March 2014.

This one was supposed to be done by Midnight City, right? I heard they were in deep shit financially.

I recall Gone Home appearing on some Nintendo list of indie games coming to Wii U back in... October, I think.]

fake edit: Early November

It sounds like the studio that was handling the console port went under (Midnight City).

The game is now back with Fullbright, who's too busy working on their new title to port it themselves. So it's in limbo right now, hopefully they find someone else who can take it up

This really doesn't seem like the type of game that would worth the effort being ported to consoles. I guess the Wii U version would've done pretty well considering utter lack of competition on the eShop though.

Wondering this too. Doesn't seem like it'd be too difficult to port to current gen consoles, given their PC architecture.

It's a very special game that many people who don't play on PC have missed out on. I think it's absolutely worth the effort of porting.

I thought it was out in the US? I been waiting for the uk store to get it.

sorry, but what utter bullshit.
worth the effort? Why does everyone assume all console gamers are just cod and creed players?

I would probably agree, even with the PS4 being particularly indie friendly lately, it doesn't seem like it would be a big enough seller. Most people that wanted to play probably have already. I don't recall it being too taxing to run.

I've bought some games on Steam and PS4 (like The Swapper) to support devs, and while I enjoyed it a lot, I wouldn't pick it up again if it was ported.

Ah well, I didn't know about the console port devs going under, that'd explain it. I hope Tacoma arrives on consoles in a more timely manner. They are focused on PC development on it and are not working on the others, right?

Midnight City's in some deep shit.

I don't think they're totally dead, but they're not in a position to do anything right now.

Which sadly means the PS4 version of Costume Quest 2 is MIA in the UK too :( Came out everywhere else, and on PS3 in the EU even, just that one combo I want missing!

Oh, wow. That's gotta be tough for the GH devs.

What a Mystifying opinion.

I didn't know Midnight City was in trouble. Feels like they were pretty new on the scene, getting some cool deals done...

Shame.

Didn't one of the devs tweet that a build of the entire PS4 version of the game was loaded into RAM before the PS4 came out?

Joke post? A PS4 version would do way better than a Wii U version. Has there been any game released on both that has sold better on Wii U?

The reason there are so few eShop games is because they don't sell. If it was a vibrant marketplace there would be more third party releases on there.

They keep saying they hope to announce something soon when folk ask about a console release to the Gone Home twitter. I would buy it straight away if it came to XBO, Vita or WiiU.

No idea about specific sales and if any Wii U games have outsold ps4 versions but your post is rather bollocks, there's tonnes of games on the eshop and some have sold very very well

No, the concept of an eShop port is not the developers trolling you personally.

er, I feel your statement is factually incorrect, theres also a ton of indies on the eshop now and are still coming, theres also alot of kickstarters that have reached the wiiU goals.

Finally there are numerous statements from indie devs that the eshop has been very profitable for them.

The ratio of indie games (or just games in general) released on PSN versus eShop kind of makes this post moot.

I'd actually like to know if any game released on Wii U (eShop or otherwise) has outsold an Xbox One or PS4 counterpart.

i will assume rayman legends is one of them. lego games, just dance, and disney/skylanders are probably up there too. there's not a ton of crossover, but when there is, it's usually family-friendly stuff that does better, which makes sense.

All box retail though, right? I can't imagine many digital releases sell better on Wii U due to lack of install base, promotion, and the audience typically interested in that kind of game not really being Wii U-centric.

well you said eshop or otherwise

regarding the wii u eshop, there doesn't seem to be a ton of overlap in libraries with psn/xbla. at least for current-gen stuff. if there is, the release dates don't tend to match up, making comparisons difficult.

Maybe it's still happening but the release calendar for PSN was getting sort of flooded for early 2015?

I hope it still happens. Loved it on my PC and would love to play it again. My girlfriend tried it on her Mac and just couldn't get into keyboard + mouse controls.

I read a recent article that said the game is just about an hour long and is about $20 bucks.

Is this an hour well spent for that kind of money?

It was $20 at launch on PC, expect a bunch of sales if it ever makes it out to consoles. Opinions vary wildly, I thought it was well worth the money, other people did not.

If you're comparing dollars to hours ratio before even buying though, I'd hazard a guess that you probably wouldn't find it worth $20.

You'd think they'd learn to not work with Tim after Psychonauts.

What's Tim got to do with it? It's a Fullbright joint.

Some think it is, others think it's not. Personally, I think it's worth it but I really enjoy minimalistic adventure games such as this.

Also, I checked my time played on Steam and it shows that it took me three hours to go through it. But I took my time, explored everywhere, read anything I could find, and so on. I suppose a person could rush through it in an hour.

We don't have a PS4 version comparison, but Frozenbyte said Trine 2 on Wii U was more successful for them than the 360 or PS3 versions. We don't know for sure if that's purely because it sold better or if other factors drove it (easier port, selfpublished, maintained a higher sales price) but it's encouraging.

Black Forest Games also said the Wii U version of Great Giana Sisters was outperforming the PS3 version in the early going. Renegade Kid said the Wii U version of Mutant Mudds was the best performing home console port, which is presumably why the sequel's launching on it first. Other than that I'm not aware of any other direct PS/Xbox comparisons.

You gotta leave that thought process at the door with this game. There is no gameplay per se, just going around reading notes and the environment to get the general story of what is going on.

It's fantastic. Took me 3 hours as well.

It sounds like my type of game, I would drop 20 in a second no problem. Just wanted a general consensus and it seems very positive.

I was waiting for the Wii U version and will grab it when it finally comes.

Yea a critically and commercially successful indie hit is way too risky lol

.

You also have to be relaxed and enjoy the experience of slow discovery. Playing just to finish is a good way to wreck the game.
