I'm gonna go ahead and assume this will eventually make it to consoles. The sales numbers for the PSP games had to be high enough for them to continue making installments.

If this is designed for arcade first and foremost and from the ground up, here's hoping they do a better job of making it less stat-dependent and more balanced than the PSP games in order to make it truly competitive. I enjoyed a fair amount of the movesets in the original but didn't enjoy the basic paradigm of the combat with its weird tug-of-war-for-attack-power system.

I'm really hoping Kingdom Hearts 3 has a multiplayer mode that's similar to this, by the way.

I'm surprised how high effort this is.

I dunno, i expected a little better based on the reactions in this thread(i just came in) even though it was naive of me. Its obvious they are re-purposing the FFARR engine cause of how everything looks, and i'm curious as to what hardware they are basing the arcade cabinets on, probably nothing special cause they'll want to keep the costs down

They will have to remove the stat based stuff. They can't really expect people to grind equipment in an arcade...

And I hope KH3 has no form of online connectivity whatsoever.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
I'm surprised how high effort this is.

It seems all companies are making valiant efforts on the arcade front.

SE - Final Fantasy Dissidia
Bandai - Pokken Tournament
Capcom - Attack on Titan, Luigi's Mansion

I'm surprised honestly.

My normal expectation would be like FF Type-0 HD style port of the PSP game.

I DEMAND THIS NOW

It's not really stat-dependent at all. Equips that were used in tournaments were mainly for abilities. There were only three things that needed balancing:

1) Exdeath
2) Ultimecia
3) Assist Meter building on whiffed attacks

Hildibrand's family is the best.

14 really did have a great cast of characters. I do need to get back into it and see what else new has popped up ever since I left after maxing out.

Am guessing my old crafting spots will be populated by other players now lol

And this is how he would enter combat.

Seriously would be such a waste of an awesome character not to add him in. Can almost guarantee that there would be people here in Japan using him as a main if so.

358/2 Days, Birth By Sleep, and Dream Drop Distance all have ad-hoc multiplayer. It's gonna happen, sorry, so you might as well hope for it to be good and fun instead of shitty.

"I'm surprised how high effort this is."

Gunslinger Stratos must be doing really well for them to put 2 competitive action games in development at the same time and one of them being a Final Fantasy game.

You still don't expect this to be on consoles?

For Street Fighter at least, stats such as score and win rate were saved thanks to the internet connections that the cabs would have.
Well, yeah, but that didn't make your character stronger, it just gave your score and win rate.

Equipment in Dissidia is a big deal, your character gets significant stat bonuses.

Days has literally nothing else going for it, BBS's was stripped, and DDD's is disposable.

I'm curious about the excitement here. I've got like 800+ hours in dissidia 12 and this really does nothing for me.

If this ever comes to the west,it will probably translate to F2P model.

Though this might still be a full title the same Tekken manages to be both an arcade game and full home console game.

I am gonna be pessimistic and predict F2P.

I don't really want to speculate about SE's decisions considering they are SE and they aren't rational that much decision-wise.

But the fact that its on Arcade, leads me to believe its an Arcade only game, and as an arcade game in 2015, a western release(whether as a port to consoles or something else) is far away if it ever comes.

Pokkén, Tekken are two recent arcade games that are also going to come out for consoles. Same thing happened with Persona 4 Arena and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. I'm not that informed about the arcade scene but this is just off the top of my head.

Obviously, this isn't some shoddy effort. SE is way too big of a company and has too much mindshare to not put this out elsewhere..

One thing I worry about is the 3v3 gameplay. Doesn't seem like it's built from the ground up for 1v1.

Now the console talk is back, so I'm out.

The gifs are amazing though, I hope to see more when I wake up (the entire video is already gifed, but wtv lol).

Agreed that the quality of it in Days and DDD is pretty damn questionable, but in BBS the only reason it was stripped was because remasters don't exactly get the budget for an online infrastructure to fully replace ad-hoc multiplayer. Don't mistake that for a disavowal of the concept on the KH Osaka team's part.
