Video game soundtracks you're pretty sure no one has ever heard

A few nights ago I was sucked into the youtube vortex of music where the related videos section seems to a neverending treasure trove full of the best shit ever.

I stumbled upon the soundtrack for a game called Chaos Field. It's a shmup on the Dreamcast and Gamecube. The game itself looks alright for a casual shmup fan such as myself but the soundtrack kind of blew me away.

Here's a playlist - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYB7ZDJngECFxlrw8-yLQ8N7fVVkbzN0H
Definitely check out the first and second tracks. There's also a bonus CD with a couple of cool remixes like this one. Already better than the entirety of that awful Zone of the Enders 2 remix disk.

What other soundtracks do you think no one has heard of and definitely would deserve more recognition?

No one heard it because no one played it. It's a fantastic game with a fantastic music. The music is dynamic as it selects and adapts its samples depending of what you are doing and your progression in the game. Atmospheric, African, Electronic, whatever.
Buy it, play it, love it. You can play it on your 3DS.

Most people point to Bomberman Hero when they talk about the soundtracks to Bomberman games, but that soundtrack was the culmination of a trend that started earlier in the series. Right around the mid-to-late 16-bit era, Hudson Soft composer Jun Chikuma started to experiment with the soundtracks of the Bomberman games, shifting from a standard sound to a more sample-driven one influenced by electronic music (and a touch of hip-hop, in some cases), resulting in some pretty good tracks from the series. It makes a good bit of sense if you consider that Bomberman was originally supposed to be a robot.

She's not really doing much video game music now (she only did another game or two after Hero), but Chikuma seems to be still pretty active in the music world.

I love, love, LOVE Saturn Bomberman's OST. Such a nice quirky chill vibe. I listen to it a fair bit on the reg, actually.

I feel like Saturn Bomberman's OST is the one everyone should know instead of Hero (that wild west track is so good), but I guess that's what happens when your game is on a less popular console. They're both good OSTs, but Saturn has a lot of standout tracks on it.

Patchwork Heroes has a pretty great soundtrack, although unfortunately most of it isn't on Youtube. I found the full OST floating around on the internet ages ago though, so I'm sure you can also find it if you want.

Holding 1,000,000 Tons of Bravery

Also by the same composer, Echochrome ii has some really good music. According to Wikipedia it holds the record for longest piece ever composed for a game!

Prime #4507

And heck, why not throw Echochrome's soundtrack on here too?

Despite me bringing it up often, I don't think anyone has given due credit to the soundtrack of Smurfs' Nightmare, composed by the ever-so-talented Alberto González.

Damn, this stuff is great!

On the topic of Game Boy music, the soundtrack to Trip World is also very good.

And on the topic of Sunsoft, I'm pretty sure the music in Gimmick! is fairly known, but there's a really good unused track that's worth listening to.

Far and away his greatest work, in my opinion. Absolutely incredible from beginning to end.

EDIT: beaten by fellow connoisseur with godtier taste PixyJunket

EDIT 2: alright, I've got one. Racing Lagoon (by Noriko Matseuda and Takahito Eguchi) = soundtrack to the only High Speed Driving RPG in existence (as far as I know). Random battles were drag races, man.

Full soundtrack because I can't find individual links

Brilliant mix of jazz, d'n'b, hip hop, and techno influences.

The ambient parts on Amusement World were what captured me, originally. It's such a nice setup to the rest of the tracks, just like you walked into the game itself. Hope that more people will pick up on it in the years to come.

Okay, this is one of the best soundtracks i've ever heard. Everyone should listen to this.

There are thousands of views in that playlist, seems people have heard that stuff before. :p

Ignoring the hyperbole, Tobal 2's soundtrack was one such OST that I really enjoyed way back when.

Actually I think I could conceivably be the only gaffer that actually has the physical CD of this OST.

Negative sir. I've been signing the praises of this OST and game for years. You also forgot to mention China Dress. I fixed that mishap for you =)

Every time I listen to it reminds me that I should have uploaded in a better quality, lol.

Speaking of N64DD games, how about Mario Artist: Communications Kit? It's a small, minimally interesting soundtrack, but I like the Title and Menu themes well enough. And while everyone's listened to everything at some point, I'm not sure the Mario Artist games have received enough discussion for their music. You can find playlists for Paint Studio and Talent Studio on YouTube now thanks to the work of a recent N64DD owner, who's planning on uploading more once his unit's functioning again.

Paint Studio's notable because it features both catchy tunes from Totaka and more textural pieces from a variety of North American musicians/sound crew who helped develop the game back when it was designated Creator. I really enjoy the mix of tunes resembling Mario Paint's and those similar to something you'd hear in Aquanaut's Holiday or something. On the contrary, Talent Studio drops track-by-track variety of this sort for a set of themes repeated as variants, where the melodies and backing parts get rearranged per context. Totaka worked with newcomers Kenta Nagata and Toru Minegishi on this soundtrack—in fact, a few of the game's tracks provide the missing link between Totaka's previous sound direction and the style he would bring to Animal Crossing (T-Shirt Designer #3 is a dead ringer for how Nagata's hourly field music would sound). I really hope Polygon Studio's even more distinct and brimming with creativity.

Turns out your guy did the music for it!!!

Haha, yeah, he did a lot of Infogrames stuff. I played the shit out of Looney Tunes Collector: Alert! as well as the Lucky Luke game for GBC. Imagine my surprise when I recently found out that the same guy did the music for all of these Infogrames games I played as a kid.

Some Lucky Luke tracks:

Painful Gulch
Cheyenne Mountains

Heck yes, Teknopathetic Pop 'n Disco and Boarder 70 have been at the top of my go-to iTunes playlist for years. Truly underappreciated.

Whoa, I liked that Po Pi Pa Po song after hearing it on a Japanese Club Nintendo album one time, but I never knew it had so many remixes.

The game that only I ever played and for about 10 minutes at the very most about 15 years ago.

The weirdest thing about it is that I hum it from time to time and I am having trouble remembering from where it is, it is so darn catchy I just can't stop whistling it or humming it

I'm referring to the PC and N64 soundtracks in particular on this one. From my understanding the Gamecube, PS1 and PS2 soundtracks had a completely different score, and I can't for the life of me understand why. Although the latter versions had heavily orchestrated, upbeat and busy soundtracks akin to a Disney cartoon, the PC and N64 soundtracks were subtle, incredibly absorbing and atmospheric, with some catchy tunes that have gone criminally unnoticed.

Some choice tunes -
Duckburg: Urban High-Rises
This sounds like it could be straight from a Ratchet or Sly Cooper game.

Magica de Spells' Manor: Ghostly Path
This track is my jam. It was one of the more memorable tracks from the game and sounds like it comes straight out of Rayman 2. The subtly haunting pads and the eerie strings set the stage perfectly. Special mention to the Creepy Corridor iteration as well, which almost sounds like Death Chamber from Sonic Adventure 2, and the level's hub world which was legitimately spooky.

Wow I had completely forgotten about this game. I only ever played the demo but I remember it being pretty fun.
