10 years passed since one the craziest game ever made was released, since the epic battle between the devils twins was played by lots of us for the first time...

You're probably wondering about the thread title, well march 1st set the NA anniversary but i shamefully forgot about the most important one, that's JP anniversary(17th Feb). Though, i felt it was too bad to let this event being ignored(even Capcom didn't remember about it) so i decided to strechted up a bit this anniversary because a game like this deserves to be celebrated for this important goal!

Devils Never cry
...and never forget.

Don't forget to congratulate Hideaki Itsuno on the DMC3 anniversary, he may not seem that active on twitter but he confirmed he read the tweets he receives!

Update:
Looks like he noticed us!

I always doubted this game after playing DMC2 which was the worst game I've ever played. And then when this game came out and was awesome.... my faith in gaming was restored!

But seriously, FUCK the yellow orb system. First time I ever got the Japanese version of a game.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
I remember I was working at GS when DMC3 came out. I remember "checking" it out and being blown away by how bad ass it looked(even compared to DMC1/2) and how tough it was. After two days of playing it I knew I was never gonna beat it, and ended up bringing it back to work early.

Still the best DMC. When I played the HD collection and 4 it still stood out as the king for me. Great gameplay with a good story for the genre with my favorite tropes. Still a shame DMC4 story was so lacking after this outing. Was hoping good stories for DMC would be standard afterwards. I know I'm in the minority since DMC4 gameplay just wins out for a lot of people. But I'm just all about the overall package.

Truly revolutionized the genre, and easily one of my favorite games of all time. Here's to ten more years.

Also congrats to DMC3 for making GAF's top 25 games of that generation full of killers.

Blinded by the luminous glory that is David Bowie's physical manifestation.

lol wut. Play on easy?

I mean I struggled, but I beat it pretty handily. I can't see anyone not beating Devil May Cry 3. Edit: Oh, wait, non-Special Edition that was "difficulty level +1" in the west. Yeah, that was pretty bullshit. Play Special Edition.

Best game in the genre. Not only that but the story was pretty good and the action cut scenes are some of the best in the industry. I've watched DMC3 in movie mode several times. An easy top ten contender for me and has never been surpassed in the character action genre.

I was hoping we would get some kind of definitive version if the HD collection came to PC, but I gues that'll never happen. The PC version sucks, apparently.

It requires a little patchwork, but the PC version works if you take a little time to fix it.

Here are two pages with some recommended steps: http://steamcommunity.com/app/6550/discussions/0/864969320373351964
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=113562619&postcount=115

It also has slowdown and incompatibility issues with some cards until certain music tracks are removed from the game. A lot of people claim not to have this issue, though... but if you do:

It also lets you incorporate the Style Switch mod recently created by the community:
http://www.nexusmods.com/devilmaycry3/mods/1/?

It should already have the controller update added to it.

I just replayed this game last summer, or else I'd be knee-deep in a playthrough right down.

Man, where's my motivation?

One of my favorite games of all time. Seeing its lifespan recently get extended with the recent existence of style switching mods and all weapons mod is crazy. It's amazing how much potential DMC3s combat engine holds. I'll maybe post a more extensive writeup of how much I love DMC3 and why, tomorrow, but it's late.

To sign off, here's the OG stylish combo video that sparked a phenomenon.

Hell Sloth is Dead

And here's a video demonstrating some of the stuff that can be done in DMC3SE (on PC with mods) now.

Happy 10th anniversary!

3 and 4 are the best action games of all time, so happy anniversary DMC.

It always makes me happy when I remember that the original Dante and the actual series were chosen over the reboot.

I feel like in another 10 years I will still be playing this game.

Yeah, before it got jazzed up a bit later, DMC3 was pretty tough on it's initial release in the USA.

GAF voted it as #2 best action game of the 6th generation (2nd to Ninja Gaiden), #5 best PS2 game and top 25 best game of the 6th generation!

A bonafide action classic!

Still one of my top 3 favorite games of all time, favorite action game of all time and the game solely responsible for getting me really into gaming.

DMC3:SE is still the greatest character action games ever. Can't wait to see what they are doing to DMC4:SE. Also looking forward to all the cool changes in DmC:Definative.

The Vergil battles were great, but the rest a bit a underwhelming. The standard enemy encounters were basically combo fodder and not much else.

I only played the original version.

I enjoyed DMC4 more. Well at the least the Nero half.

Simply the best in the series. I remember trying to get into the series so I bought 2 and 3 together (couldn't find 1). I played 2 first and it left a very sour impression. I booted up 3 and was blown away. I found it very difficult since I wasn't into action games back then. I ended up playing on Easy (which was SE Normal). I barely got through the game. Gigapede took me a long time because I just shot him to death. Everything was hard. When I beat the game, I felt like a gaming god for getting through all those ordeals. I practiced and bought SE ASAP. Combo videos started appearing which blew me away. I practiced until I could do them.

I invented the NG DMD challenge on GameFAQs AS A JOKE but people took seriously. It was initially called DMDPMDM "DMD Players Must Die Mwahaha" but was shortened to "Dante Will Die". Another guy beat it first (Pokey). Others followed suit, including Kail (supremely overrated) and chinaman (DMC3 god). Eventually I did the challenge myself. I could also beat New Game Bloody Palace.

Good old days. I went to internet cafes just to watch the latest combo vids. : (

I have done this challenge myself. The hard part is getting SS ranks with it though which someone has actually done.

Also did it for DMD mode in DMC1. The challenge I failed at was DMD DMC1 E&I and Force Edge only. Nightmare and Nelo Angelo boss fights were simply too tough for me.

Will be doing live stream of world first DmC DE Hardcore Rebellion and E&I only walkthrough. I will also be going for GMD + Turbo + Hardcore mode and if I do that I will go for all of that + Must Style mode.

Yeah, the thing with NG DMD is that higher ranks make it more manageable since you get more cash after every mission. chinaman was the one who took it up a notch: NG DMD, no upgrades, Lv1 styles, all SS. It was nuts.

I've heard about the DMC1 DMD FE/E&I challenge. I thought it was never beaten? Last time I heard, the DMC1 vet Joch gave up on Nightmare because it was taking so long to kill.

My favourite of the series, bought the HD remaster just to play this one again, and I'm doing 4 right now.

Except, I feel like I'm awful at it and just play to beat it, being all boss with SSS stuff with the basic moves is impossible for me. :p DMD and all that is definitely out of the question.

Vergil 3 is seriously one of the best designed final boss fights of all time. When you get him down to his final phase on DMD and he starts teleporting and using helm breaker non-stop and mixes it up with Spiral Swords at the same time... what a rush.

The OP for DMC4:SE's OT should be this image and absolutely nothing else.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
One of the best games of all time featuring what is one of the best boss fights ever: Nevan

Expertly paced with audio and visual cues. It's a back and forth between the two in a beautiful performance, fitting for the setting of the bossfight.

Rock on!
