Alan Wake franchise sold more than 4.5m units on PC and Xbox 360

Grats. I like this series. Hopefully there will be a new entry.

What was the last reported number, when they launched that humble bundle with Sam Lake's message? 3 million?

Damn. IGN reported in 2011 that the 360 sales were around 1,5 Million. So either the PC game sold insanley well or the game really had some legs on the 360 (or both)

Loved the game, DLC, and American Nightmare. Bought the 360 just for the game. Will buy a Xbox One for Alan Wake 2.

Both that and American Nightmare are fucking amazing. Games that were without comparison, unique storytelling and character and atmosphere up the walls.

How the hell they haven't focused on an Alan Wake 2 yet is beyond my comprehension.

HOW.

That's really not saying much, I'm afraid, since the game has been sold for virtually nothing on several occasions. Hasn't it been like $1 on both Humble Bundle and Steam multiple times? I even think it was given away for free once.

One of my favourite games of the last generation anyhow.

Is their a breakdown of which sold more?

Alan Wake PC sold really well from what I understand... better than the 360 version perhaps?

I'm guessing that a large amount of sales didn't happen until the QB deal was already done. Now we get a new Remedy IP with QB and probably a return to AW in the future. Life is good!

Alan Wake was so good, really enjoyed American Nightmare as well. Hopefully they make a sequel after Quantum Break. I also hope the Alan Wake remaster is real and does end up as a preorder bonus for Quantum Break (as indicated by the leaked survey).

I remember it dropping in price pretty quickly after launch. Bought the collectors edition for half price four weeks after launch and the standard version was even cheaper.

That is awesome.

From Wikiperdia:

Sales[edit]
NPD Group stated sales for the first two weeks reached 145,000 units....

On 13 March 2012, Remedy Entertainment announced that the game has passed 2 million copies sold, including Xbox 360 and PC.[110] On 23 May 2013 Remedy creative director Sam Lake announced that the game has sold 3 million copies.

The game was bundled, and had a very successful PC launch, followed by a Humble Bundle. I'm sure the profit margin on most of those sales wasn't huge, but it's a great game. Hopefully this means it has a huge fan base now, and that a sequel could be huge. I think if MS funds it though, it will be/should be Xbox and PC.

It means there are 4,5 million people out there who own part the AW franchise and might be interested in a sequel. That's not bad.

Fantastic game, one of the best from last gen. The collectors edition novel was a great touch.

Only wish there was a PC port front and center on day 1. That could have given the game the boost it needed to get a sequel right away rather hitting that threshold too late where Remedy had already moved onto Quantum Break (not that that game doesn't sound wonderful).

I smell an announcement of Alan Wake Remastered soon. It's likely after Quantum Break they'll start working on Alan Wake 2. I remember Sam Lake wanting to do it- guess he's waiting until technology improves. Not to forget he teased a lot about Alan Wake 2 years ago on blog or something.

Im looking forward to greatly to Quantum Break, my somewhat disappoint at a lack of Alan Wake 2 is definitely offset by that game.

After Quantum Break comes out, they should staff Remedy up a bit and get Alan Wake episodes going whilst making QB2 or another new IP (depending on QBs success)

Great success makes me happy.

I am sure if you asked a lot of series if they could sell 4.5m copies between 1 AAA game and a digital download exclusive spin-off thing, they would not only bite your arm off, they'd take your whole damn torso.

No way this can really be spun negatively.

I think this IP has a lot of potential and I would love to see Remedy expand on what they've built.

Remedy have two teams but one is an iOS team, right? Would be great if they staffed up to take on a QB trilogy with one team and have the other work on AW2.
