Found 20$ on the ground. What's your policy?

I walked out of the swimming pool through a side door and seen the green 20 CAD. I looked in both directions, and there was nobody. Given that there was no clear owner, I pocketed it.

What do you guys do when you find money on the ground? Do you give it to the nearest establishment? Whats the most youve found?

20 bucks or less, take it after looking around

100+, turn it in.

Any other valuables, turn them in.

Anything less than £100 is mine. Unless the person is close by and I can grab their attention. Over £100 I'd hand it in.

You have like 0 chance of returning it to the person that actually dropped it unless you saw them drop it. I would probably keep any amount of money unless its like 500+.

If I don't see anyone nearby and it's not in a wallet, then I'll keep it. I've never found more than $10 on the ground, though.

Finders keepers unless it literally fell out of someone's pocket in front of you or if someone made an announcement or something about said money.

If someone can tell me the serial number, I give it to them. Otherwise, it is mine.

It is obviously always mine

My policy is pizza.

It'd be different if there was a wallet or some way to track down the owner, but if there isn't...enjoy your good fortune.

I mean, I'm not going to waste my time trying to find the original owner of a 20 dollar bill unless they dropped it right in front of me.

I pick it up and move on with my life.

happened to me in Paris, and it was 100 Euros

I looked around, didn't see anyone in distress or checking pockets, picked it up and walked off a bit to lean on the wall off next to the path I was on, fiddled with my phone for a min or 2. some frazzled looking lady came walking along searching the ground obviously and I asked her what she lost, and the amount. was hers, gave it back. she said bless you and I said LADY GOD IS DEAD. ok that last bit I made up. felt good though.

If I find a wallet/purse/etc, I make sure it gets back to the original owner with everything intact.

Just loose money though? Keep it. Who knows where that came from.

Since there was no one around I'd wait a few minutes to see if anyone came looking for it. If not, then pocket it. I wouldn't go around asking because I wouldn't trust people who weren't there to be honest about losing it.

If I see money falling out from someone pockets/purse/wallet then I tell them and give it back. If I legitimately have 0 clue who it is them I'm keeping it.

I found $20 on the ground today, but it was one of those stupid 'who needs money when you got jesus' papers that looked like money

Keep it. Who are you going to bring it to who won't just pocket it for themselves? If there is cash on the floor, I pick it up and wait a little while in the area. If no one comes looking then it's mine.

You could also donate the money somewhere if you really wanted to.

Unless I saw who dropped it and I can reach them/get their attention, it's mine.

Finding a bundle of cash, credit card, wallet etc = turn it in.

Keep it.

I found $100 once, and waited for a while to see if anybody came by looking anxiously for money (it was in my work's cafeteria, about 20 feet from the ATM there). Nobody came, so into my wallet it went.

I have to report it or I just leave it because I can get fired or arrested for Theft of stolen/lost/mislaid property. I have to assume that someone is always watching me be it the private citizen or someone above my pay grade.

That's fine for when you're on your employer's property, but when you're not working, I don't see the issue.

I'd punch that money off a giant cliff. Lord knows I've punched far more than 20 dollars off a cliff before.

Pocket it. I'm in no position to look a gift horse in the mouth.
