Competitive GAF, are you an above .500 gamer?

What I mean is, do you win more often than you lose when it comes to competitive games, whether it's Halo, Driveclub, Smash bros or whatever. Do you tend to be on the side of victory more? I consider myself to be decent competitively when it comes to fighting/sports game, and I find myself winning more often than losing. Losing isn't fun GAf, so I wanna know if we got any Knicks gamers out here.

I'm a very good Halo player, or was back during the prime of h2/3. I was also pretty good at Gears of War. Sucked at every other multi-player game I ever tried. For some reason I lost interest in competitive play with games. Too busy to devote the time, and older, slower reflexes.

Once I stopped caring about my K/D in Halo, I had much more fun, was able to play different objective based games, and didn't get monumentally pissed off at the game/in general when other players defeated me or started trolling. Nowadays, I typically avoid competitive games, not because I feel inadequate, but more because I don't want to become addicted.

But, to answer your question, I'd fuckin rekk u at fifa

I do at pretty much every game I take semi-seriously, but that doesn't mean much when it comes to a game's actual competitive scene instead of just going against randoms online or friends.

Yes. Then again, if I suck at a game I usually don't play it for long (sorry, TF2).

I dominate my friends at SSB to the point where I have to use random characters if we're playing "winner keeps his controller" style. I'm at a 2+ K/D in the shooters I care to play (CoD, Halo, Destiny).

I am not having fun if I'm not stomping, but luckily I'm good at games so it's usually not an issue. Some games just don't click with me, though, and losing pisses me off so I drop those games quickly.

I have much more fun facing off against randoms, but I can hold my own in the ranked playlists (though my K/D is much closer to a 1-1.5 in those). If I'm <1:1, I'm hating myself.

I'm a bit above .500 in competitive play. But there are just days when I'm on a roll or just days when I can't snag a win at all so it really varies.

I was when I was playing Tekken 5: DR competitively.

Life has soured my Tekken skills completely. I went from above average to scrub tier too quickly.

Ah, to be young again.

The only competitive game I win a lot at is NBA 2K15. I only play Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros, or Destiny multiplayer when I'm feeling like a dumb doofus who wants to be put in his place.

Yep, but it feels like it's harder to stay up there in new things I pick up versus old established franchises. I can't play Guilty Gear to save my life this many months after it launched but I still have Marvel 3 muscle memory and tactics down despite not touching it in years. Same for me and Smash.

Mario Kart is interesting in that I never thought I was particularly competitive/cared for the competitive angle in that title until I got introduced to the GAF online rooms. :lol

I'm like a 0.9 KDR in all shooters but I focus heavily on objectives to help my team win. So I like to think I'm a little above .500 in shooters as far as contribution to the team. I don't play anything else competitively besides Mario Kart which is hard to judge, if every finish under first is a loss then definitely under .500, but if a top 3 counts as a win then +.500. Tetris DS used to be like a +.900 gamer!

I was significantly above average in Halo 2, 3, and Reach. I wrecked people in Halo 4, but I think that was because a lot of new people were introduced to that game. I was a top 200 player in Destiny according to sites that track multiplayer stats, although I don't know how reliable that data is.

Just like most NY sports teams last year, I am generally ass. I lose more than I win with a few exceptions in some games. But just like Mets and Knicks fans I just keep coming back for more. Can't help it, it's just too much fun. Besides, there's no better feeling than actively seeing yourself improve and get better and better.

I usually hover at more than half all my games being losses.

Nope I'm purely bottom rung in fighting games. The last time I played a session in Street Fighter I probably went like 4-25 or something like that.

Not surprising considering I hadn't been playing that long and it was a pretty established game at that point. Part of the reason I stopped though---don't really have the patience or mental fortitude to deal with constantly getting bopped that hard.

Try to in CS:GO

Been winning a lot more than losing lately,
1 or 2 more straight wins and I'm at Master Guardian Elite. :D

Goal right now is Legendary Eagle/Master.

I am really bad but somehow manage to be slightly in favor of winning.
I had a 51% win ratio in Tekken 6 after playing around 5000-6000 matches online.

I'm not nuts about it, but I kept my KpD above 1 in Halo, which is really the only game I played online (specifically, Halo 2 and Halo 3) after Crimson Skies, and I didn't keep up with my stats in that one. It didn't necessarily translate to wins all the time, but I was mixing it up and not costing my side the win more often than not.

There were certain maps I was just better than others. For example, in Halo 3 (and don't ask me why I know this), my KpD was 1.615 on Last Resort, 1.448 on Valhalla and 1.402 on Construct. Not coincidentally, I enjoyed playing on those maps. On Narrows, I was 1.120, 1.273 on High Ground, 1.272 on The Pit, 1.194 on Snowbound, and I really didn't care for those maps. Oh, here's one -- 0.600 on Blackout. But that was 3 games total, so a very small sample size. (A positive small sample size map is Ghost Town, with a 1.538 ratio in 4 games.)

I'm not really considering myself good anymore, because I was a lot better back in the days and I stopped caring. However, I'm okay with my stats in Halo MCC:

Besides that, the game isn't even competetive yet. It's brainless donging on enemies, who can't walk and shoot at the same time, because there's no ranks/Trueskill anymore.

Victories? Toss up, depends on the team. But in most competitive FPS' I'm in the top 50% of the players in terms of performance and generally all measurable stats (k/d, objective points) support that.

Yea, absolutely detest staring at the respawn screen, or losing when playing with friends. Randoms, I don't care for as much since there's little hope for some online players to be remotely competent. But with a team and friends it better be domination 😈

Picked up halo 5 and was pissed that I got put into onyx 3, ended up grinding it to pro as a result, and got placed into pro when breakout came out.

depends on the game...but for the most part yeah barely. i usually blame my teammates and lag in the games where i'm not though ;)

Hell yes.MW2, Black Ops 1,and MW3 I maintained a w/l ratio of 1.90-2.0. Bloodborne I'm over .50 for invasions. But that's only because I played cod in a full party. Playing alone can really mess your win/loss up.

I was the noob in my group of friends when I jumped into COD4 when I was younger. I've learned that if I play/compete in anything team related, I will come up short. This also extends to MOBAs that I play nowadays and you can bet those games are fun as a result. I do my best to get better, but there's always someone even better when i just start getting into my groove.

The only games where I can do better than the other person are fighting games. I would say anything one-on-one, but then I remembered that I suck at RTS games.

I don't really play competitive games, though I guess Diablo 3 has gotten pseudo-competitive in the past year, and I've consistently been in the top 10 on the leaderboards in that game so I guess, maybe

Don't really like player vs. player multiplayer, except for card games but I play hearthstone

Individually, it varies for me. On the average, I would say I'm good but not great when it comes to playing games against others. Sometimes, I do atrociously, but I do have those (sadly) short lived streaks where I'm able to do everything right. When sniping, I don't miss a shot and can string together decent kill streaks before I get tagged for my hubris. After a bit of time, it just goes away and I start missing left and right go back to doing something else more fun and less intensive.

Depends on the game. Fighting game in general It's about 50/50. Smash in particular is low. SNK fighters is usually higher.

Shooters, also depends.

MOBAs, it's probably low lol.

I have nearly 2,500 Streetpass tags. Only one person I've ever met has a better score than me on Mii Force Arcade Mode.

And I went to Japan, Europe and America.

No. If it's something I'm good at, I prefer to play against people at or above my level, so I lose more often than I win.

I'm also terrible at first-person shooters, so my .001 average on those probably drags my average down much further.

Games with good matchmaking should mean you average out at about .500 consistently regardless of skill level, unless you're one of the best or worst players in the world.

Damn, playing Resistance 2-3, my clan with full parties would go on 50+ game winning streaks all the time. Full parties, teamwork and skill; Those were the days. .

Nope, I'm terrible at competitive play, hugely inconsistent. I take a lot of time to get good, and if I don't keep up with it I lose competence quickly. Steep ladder up while I'm learning and a steep ladder down if I stop.
