Rarely do I ever make statements like this solely because broad statements sometimes include innocent people but just for venting sake, I need to.
Fuck you, Konami. You spineless swines can't even own up to your actions. This is an absolutely pathetic showing for such a big outfit and I hope the men responsible for all of this get theirs.
I'm not giving you another damn dime until the day I shuffle off this mortal coil.
It's canceled in the same way that there will be no new Metal Gear Solid games: without Kojima and his team, why bother? Do you really trust Konami to give it justice it deserves with their track record of botching not only other Silent Hill games, but all the other once good series they shopped out to the worst or ill-equipped developers?Wait where does it say that Silent Hills is cancelled? Am I missing something here?
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: KOOOONAAAMIIIIIIIDon't worry guys, the game will still see release
Sure, Kojima's out... but the director and, correct me if I'm wrong here, the rest of the dev team is still there, right? It's canceled in the same way that there will be no new Metal Gear Solid games: without Kojima and his team, why bother? A lot of Kojima Productions higher ups are leaving too and seeing the B team at Koji Pro completely failed to make a serviceable Metal Gear Solid: Rising and had to be shopped out to Platinum to salvage does not bode well for their ability to handle something on their own, especially a Silent Hill game.Sure, Kojima's out... but the director and, correct me if I'm wrong here, the rest of the dev team is still there, right?
Don't look down on 2D horror games , some of my favourites released in the past few years are 2D and include:
Lone Survivor
The Cat Lady
Silence of the Sleep
The Cat Lady in particular is fantastic, it's a bit rough and uses an engine that probably wasn't the best choice for what the game wants to do, but it works and everything else is great. Silence of the Sleep is a bit similar but is a much smoother experience gameplay wise.
Lone Survivor is essentially 2D Silent Hill, 16 bit inspired graphics, but no chiptunes, the soundtrack is sublime actually.
I mean you get stuff like Home or The Last Door too, only really played Home, but that one was pretty nifty in its on way too and featured great sound design.
Wish we had a list of the key people leaving the dev team in order to gauge the situation more accurately.A lot of Kojima Productions higher ups are leaving too and seeing the B team at Koji Pro completely failed to make a serviceable Metal Gear Solid: Rising and had to be shopped out to Platinum to salvage does not bode well for their ability to handle something on their own, especially a Silent Hill game.
Don't forget they pulled this shit with Iga and Castlevania years ago.
That was to be expected given recent developments, but it's still heartbreaking.
Fuck you, Konami.
Are there any other horror games even on the horizon? The only one I can think of is Until Dawn.
I'm out of the loop on this one. Can someone bring me up to speed on the recent developments/chain of events? It seems that with del Torro & N Reedus on board they certainly had some enthusiastic talent ready to make something special. So what happened?
The overwhelming feeling is that, since TPP is a Kojima production, there's no reason to not support it. You shouldn't take out your anger on a the parent company by not buying the man's product. Moreover, he could well have bonuses and incentives in his contract that pay him extra based on reviews, sales, etc, whatever. It's everything after that people intend to avoid.Wondering how many people going "Fuck Konami" are going to be throwing money their way when MGS comes out. Regardless of whats happening this might be their big cash out on AAA titles.

I made a parody of Mary's letter from Silent Hill 2 about this whole thing. I love Silent Hill and Konami is tearing me apart

+1 for cat lady. loved that game.

Team Silent needs a comeback, Konami.
This is the only way to make up for this mess
Kojima is Director, Producer, Writer and Game designer of MGS games. 4 most important positions that in other companies are occupied by several people. That is why people say MGS = Kojima. If similar situation is true for Silent Hills than it doesn't matter how many good artist, programmers, etc. is still there.Wish we had a list of the key people leaving the dev team in order to gauge the situation more accurately.
This was one of my most anticipated upcoming games after playing P.T.
Has anyone tweeted Adam Boyes or anyone at Sony to hire Kojima, Del Toro, Reedus and the team to make Not-Silent-Hills?
If this project is really dead, there's no reason they can't just go and make their own game, right?
I'm laughcrying here
yup, team siren. They're working on gravity rush 2Don't a lot of ex Team Silent work under SCE Japan Studio now?
So who is worse now? Capcom or Konami in terms of who has wasted the most IP?
I have since this morning. Worth a try
I suppose. though Capcom has the huge black eye of killing Mega Man for me....Ummm Konami took that crown a very long time ago. They are the undisputed champions.
It's important to note del Toro was speaking only on collaborating with Kojima, not whether or not the game has been cancelled. "You'll have to go after Konami for those answers," our source said.

Last night at 8pm the Castro Theater in San Francisco hosted a Q&A with Guillermo del Toro where he gave the above statement. Ian Gibson, an assistant to Guillermo del Toro, retweeted Hackney’s tweet, and responded to two tweets regarding the Silent Hills project,
Additional confirmation comes by way of Remedios Varo from I09 who also attended the event in San Francisco. In the comments section of the article describing the night he confirmed the end of the Silent Hills partnership,
I don’t remember what [Guillermo del Toro] said verbatim, but it’s definitely not happening.
And then over on Twitter he posted this in response to a tweet,
