Koji Igarashi Kickstarts Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (2.5D, backdash, 2018)

Ouch...

So Wii U version is a stretch goal of 30 achievements, which is all done outside of kickstarter, I think?

Damn! My budget is a bit tight when this needs to be payed.
Would have loved to get the physical version, guess I'll settle for the digital one.

The timing for this couldn't be better. Everyone is so pissed off at Konami, folks would no doubt back this to have a jab at them.

Artworks are ok even if it obviously isn't Kojima levels, voice actor David Hayter makes me hope for his Snake voice. Still don't know if i'll back this up because i don't know if it's 2d or not.
I'm very meh towards NotShanoa though.

It will probably be awesome, but I can already see hordes of backers being disillusioned with this further on, when it doesn't live up to their "Like Castlevania but different but the same!" expectations. :)

Also big shout out to PORTRAITofRUIN. The best Castlevania leaker ever. She's leaking non-CV games too now. I love her. Everything she said was legit hahaha.

I can't get enough of his Kickstarter profile picture. It's perfect.

I might pitch in for this, but my last few video game kickstarts have ended with me not really caring when the game finally comes out (Planetary Annihilation, Grim Dawn, Two Brothers). I might be better off just waiting for release.

Only 11% funded, I hope it makes it.

Haha

So

- 2D concept art that will probably put people's expectations too high
- Video produced by 2 Player Productions
- Developed by Inti Creates
- By video game producer who people praise a shitton for some reason
- Kickstarter started at a time where everyone hates what the publisher of the original franchise has become

Just saying, we've been through this before.

Not that it'll be a bad game, even Mighty No. 9 is decent (though disappointing). But don't set your expectations too high.

As hard is it may sound this KickStarter is important. Developers like Koji Igarashi need to be around for the sake of gaming.

We'll get nothing but Castlevania rip offs if we don't keep his dream alive.

This is the true vision of the genre.

Sweet, finally.

It has been years since I last backed anything on Kickstarter, I quite want the Physical version but I don't get paid for a few weeks. When do they take the money? Is it straight away? when they reach the goal? when it ends?

Good luck to IGA, but not I'm kickstarting something that has nothing to show for itself. Broken Age was a one-time deal in that regard. :p

Not feeling the character designs, or the decision to go 2.5D... I even would've preferred a retro pixel art game reminiscent of the swordorwhip website.

Guessing they went with an art style that they may actually be able to use in game.

Ayami Kojima art is amazing but it's not something they would be able to use easily within the game.

I haven't been keeping up on Mighty No. 9. Is there some kind of backlash against it?

Was happy to be like the 8th $100 pledge, and like 10 minutes into there were already 200 others. This whole thing makes me happy. :D

I wouldn't normally back something that doesn't show any form of gameplay prototype, but I'll make an exception here.

After how a certain other spiritual successor to a beloved franchise game turned out to look, though, I'll admit I'm a little worried that this will also turn out to have hideous android marketplace looking 3D graphics. Keeping my fingers crossed.\

Edit: Just noticed it's also being developed by Inti Creates. Now I'm doubly concerned. XD Still backing, though. Igavanias don't come around every day.

We need a GIF of Igarashi drinking his wine and throwing the glass. Also, I wonder why he couldn't get Kojima for the art.

I guess she is too expensive or just got tired of the game industry. But they dont need her. Get rid of the sailor moon look and hire the artist of OoE, because was a great direction. Aw man Im so sad about this.

Will wait for its release and subsequent sale.

Not gonna back another IntiCreates developed title until I try Mighty No. 9 for myself.

I'm interested in this, but I can't say the enemy/environment design is doing anything for me :/

Yes, yes, concept.

Backed the $100 tier!

This and Yooka-Laylee are covering my two favourite genres and developers. So happy right now! =D

Where is the Vita and 3DS stretch goal?

WHAT ABOUT NINTENDO?

Our budget left us with two options: Build the biggest, most beautiful game we can, or make sure it runs everywhere from the start. As things stand today, we can't afford to create the two separate versions of this game that would be necessary to make it run on every console. That said, we've heard legends about a remarkable treasure hidden in the castle basement...

That's probably regarding the Wii U, so I would't expect a 3DS/Vita version.

Both Kojimas are great, Hideo had no role in LoS outside of producer credits, and some spanish developers were the ones to fuck it up.

Hence my confusion with him being mentioned as even remotely necessary or associated with Castlevania even

Although I still don't really think much of Hideo

Unless he does a kickstarter for Zone of the Enders, in which case I'm there

I don't get the "too anime" complaints

What anime have you been watching that looks like this lol

What else would you call the art direction? Those character models are anime 101 designs. I'm not complaining but if you don't see that I'm not sure what to tell you.

Kiiiiinda not happy as there's no gameplay footage yet; I would have preferred a concept video ala Yooka-Laylee.

Loving the not-shanoa and not-alucard designs

really loving that inti creates is doing the actual dev

in for $100 already, obviously

Started at $60 but I may increase - this is the first KS I've backed. I always end up buying great kickstarted games and feeling bad I didn't pledge.

It's IGA and Inti Creates so I have faith in this delivering. The campaign itself looks a bit undercooked, though.
