EDIT: Also I just remembered something from messing with the TERA JP Beta ages ago, the whole VPN thing might actually be unnecessary if the game only uses the website to verify.

The way I did it back in TERA was that I just let Internet Explorer run through a proxy VPN via the internal IE settings. That way my internet was still un-VPN'ed but the game started as Internet Explorer had a Japanese IP. Could someone test this? I can't until later :/

Build a top end gaming pc almost exclusively for this game. To say I'm excited for this game would be an understatement. Didn't want to buy a KSSN though (wasted money IMO).

Does anyone know if this method costs any money?

It costs 6-10 dollars to buy an account... not a big deal compared to building a gaming pc.
Also korean server dont need vpn to play.

Anyway i still play the japanese version because i cant read korean

They've actually changed their stance on this in the Korean beta, they're adding most classes with male and female, for example the wizard which is next can be both.

Ah I see, that's good. I did see a female blader the other day and that was originally a male only class. I wonder what female giants will look like.

Just wanted to chime in real quick. Playing on a R9 280/X4 760k, I get anywhere between 40-60fps on max settings. Mostly around 45ish.

I was expecting worse so I'm feeling pretty good right now. Especially considering how the game looks, It's gorgeous.

Those people above are talking about the KR account.
KR server needs a kssn/i-pin for account creation. Some shady website are selling accounts for like $10. JP server account creation is free, you only need to link your facebook.

This was happening to me, so instead of manually entering my username and password I clicked a logo underneath the form (google, twitter or whatever depending on what you linked to their system) and it brought me to the captcha which worked right away once I did it.

I'm in the Korean beta. I will write thoughts and post some screens soon. I am also in the open beta for the Russian version of Blade & Soul (with english fan patch) that everyone can go play (it's not region locked).

If you have any questions between these two hotly anticipated titles I will be glad to chim in. All I can say is that they are both a lot more beautiful and combat-wise well realized than Aion, C9, TERA and Archeage, which are the Korean MMORPGs that all also took way to long before they were localized.


Some of you will be glad to know that Black Desert doesn't have unreasonable system requirements. I am seeing some annoying pop-up. I am not sure if it is a engine limitation but that is the only thing.
Also the only thing that has really only disappointed me this far, is that while the character customization is amazing in Black Desert, it actually only has 4-5 hairstyles per gender. The rest are locked behind a paywall. I find this to be insane, because the rest of the CC is so insanely deep.
Also I can't state enough how smooth the combat is. It's absolutely incredible. Playing as a Blader I feel it is as smooth as playing Metal Gear Rising.

Look up videos of the character creator on youtube, you have an absurd amount of freedom when making your character.

Do you know how sandbox-y Blade n Soul is compared to Black Desert? The one thing I've seen in Black Desert is that the world is really big yet there is no fast travel, so you have to explore and reach certain places by boats even. Is there fast travel in Blade n Soul?

Tried this out some over the weekend. Kinda hard to get a grip on things in-game with the english patch being garbled nonsense, but this seems promising. Makes me really excited for the actual english version of the game. Hopefully its beta will actually start later this year. :x

I haven't tried it, but I think the Korean version is a few patches ahead so it's got more classes and such.

Weird. Not sure what's going on with it. It could be heavy traffic. I'm using bitcomet for my download while RDP'd into my home machine and it's going at about 5mbps, which is fast enough. It'll only take about an hour.

Just kept trying different combinations of sign ins and VPN servers. Eventually got through with twitter and the JP server with the line speed of 271Mbps

That actually might be a deal-breaker for me as VPNs that re-route your entire internet vs. only the game are hugely annoying and I already burned my 30 days of free WTFast on Blade and Soul two years ago :/ But now that I have 80% of the client I suppose I can play with the character creator and get my feet a little wet atleast

I didn't check. I just let it finish since I'm at work right now. I'm basically checking it now and going through first run setup but that might be why. I made zero config changes and I was still getting 5 megs a second on download speed.

e: I'm stupid. I forgot to check the check box which I think may have possibly been causing the issue. Not entirely sure. I did that and then it took me to blackdesert.pmang.jp without an error message so I believe I'm good now.

In each of the bin folders is a respective BlackDesertXX.exe but uh, since I have to launch the game over a website, how will the site know where I installed Black Desert to launch it since I only unpacked it? o.o

I'm playing the Korean version and its really fun. It's like playing Soul Calibur, the MMO with the way the attacks flow into each other, the cancels, and moves are done with keys + directions. I'm sure it gets grindy like most Korean MMOs, but man it's just so much fun to play and beautiful to look at.

Do you know how sandbox-y Blade n Soul is compared to Black Desert? The one thing I've seen in Black Desert is that the world is really big yet there is no fast travel, so you have to explore and reach certain places by boats even. Is there fast travel in Blade n Soul?

It's difficult to say because I am so early in Black Desert, but a really cool feature is that you can press T, and your character autoruns to the quest. Yes. It will just figure it out. It's really cool. The interface is pretty damn good.



There is fast travel in Blade and Soul for areas you have discovered. It seems very linear and not sandboxy at all. I was kinda surprised because videos showed people gliding across vast valleys. I haven't seen any of that but maybe the game opens up later. If you want to give it a try Chu! Bam has a video guide on how to register, download and install everything from the russian server as well as apply the patches. You need a whole bunch of Microsoft framework patches back from 2005 as well. It was a hassle for me to work. Took two days, but I had a lot more trouble with getting Black Desert to work. You really have to be determined because if you run into problems there is no official support.

Well going by my experiences with the Japanese TERA Beta years back, it's annoying but once everything is in place it's trivial!
