Sony: "No concerns" about any lack of PS4 software this Holiday

What a joke... Nothing really 'wow' has been released by Sony's studios since the PS4 debut. Two christmas without anything huge on the system, and they still manage to sell PS4 without any limit.

E3 maybe. LBP3 was announced at Sony's E3 last year.

I think from a business standpoint its not a great situation for Sony. Holiday season is the most important time of the year for consoles sales and MS has the better exclusive lineup and that will drive some sales for XB1.

Purely from a games standpoint it doesn't matter at all. Holiday season will be crowded with multiplats so there won't be a shortage of games to play.

Funny that people are worried about Sony's lineup when I've got a ton of games coming up that I'm looking forward to. MGSV in September, Battlefront in November, NMS (possibly) in December, maybe Bloodborne DLC too. I think I'll make it through Holiday 2015 a-ok.

A lot of GAF seem to believe that third party multiplats don't count, even if those are what make up the vast majority of game sales outside of Nintendo consoles.

We have very different definitions of AAA games

1k hours? Is that a typo? I don't think that's humanly possible for a game that's been out for less than 2 months.

Looks like they had AAA budgets to me. Enough with the exclusion.

Sounds to me like they are in the business to providing a full working game rather than a half assed one and that there is more in store.

I'm not sure why there is always a magnifying glass on Sony every holiday when they by far has put all there eggs in the right baskets. At the end of the day, I will be preoccupied with tons of other games and backlog this season to really put any investment into this statement. I'll be waiting

Sarcasm ?

What? Which early risks paid off for Sony? The first few years of PS3 was filled with bomb after bomb, including uncharted which opened to less than 200k of sales in NOVEMBER. Warhawk, which was heavily downsized after a challenging development? heavenly sword? Folklore? Where were the rewarded risks?

Sony is reacting to their money pit spending of last gen. This is the new AAA landscape. Fewer titles. Larger budgets. Annualizable IP.

Sony has already released two new IP this year. Should they hold them until the holidays every year so we can avoid this conversation?

What the hell? I bought a ps3 for warhawk! To this day I regard it as one of the best online, multiplayer experiences I have ever had. It sold over a million copies, was one of the first titles to be offered for digital download and was responsible for hooking up so many gamers with a mic during those early, awkwardly silent years of PSN. It went on to have three very successful dlc's and a spiritual successor which unfortunately bombed but the original Warhawk did just fine.

What Joke ? The Order was a disaster. I was eager to play it and now I still don't know if I'll buy it at 20€. Killzone SF was bad. DriveClub, I'm still waiting for the PS+ version. Knack was a joke. LBP3 is (apparently) not as good as it was.

The only two exclusives to the PS4 that I enjoyed (a lot) are TLOU:R (a PS3 game) and BloodBorne which is not a Sony studio production.

So, no, this is not a joke post.

EDIT: shame on me, I forgot InFamous, which was probably good, but it's not my kind of game.

Hoping for some nice surprises this E3 and not Sony riding their current dominance in the market. Bloodborne was a great exclusive, hoping to see more of that quality and not in the vein of The Order this fall too.

Why do you seem so upset about this?

Plenty of people have ps4's and have plenty of games play on them. Just because you and a few other on here aren't fond of their output it doesn't mean nobody else should be.

Sony should be confident about their Holiday 2015 software lineup, as it is shaping up to be fantastic (1st party + 3rd party).

Sony won Holiday 2013 (globally)
Sony won Holiday 2014 (globally)
prediction: Sony will win Holiday 2015 (globally)

As is often said, SW sells HW. And Customers always vote with their wallets. Customers have been consistently voting that Sony has the best SW catalog.

If Sony delivers on the rumored price cut for Holiday 2015, it will be their best Holiday yet for the PS4.

yep I was right a joke post...

btw you forgot Infamous - second son, but please tell me how much that stunk too...

btw although Bloodbourne wasn't developed by a sony studio directly, it is still an exclusive and therefore counts does it not?

Why do you care that someone is of the opinion that none of the games Sony released so far have been worthwhile to them? Nothing about his post is trying to convince other people that they shouldn't like the games Sony has put out, hes just expressing his own opinion of what he thinks about those games. Or are the only opinions allowed here the ones where we are all pleased with Sony's output?

Seems they don't have much then. Their E3 track record the last few years has been piss poor game wise so I wouldn't hold my breath.

Eh, I guess I won't be getting a ps4 anytime soon then. I already have an Xbox and the only exclusive game that remotely interests me is Infamous SS but I'm not gonna buy a console for just that

Screw the fall trying to compete with FPS blockbusters, I don't care when I buy my games.

What I care about is announcing Morpheus games next year, much more important than PS4 exclusives imo

I can't see what 1st party games they would announce that would be ready in time but, Drawn To Death, No Mans Sky, AAA PS+ releases this fall, Mighty No 9, MGS5, Let It Die, Persona, Until Dawn, are all coming out so lets not pretend that there is not going to be anything to play.

Also MGS5 and Battlefront are going to sell millions and will release on each end of the "video game season" and have a ton of playtime throw in No Mans Sky and you have more than enough to get you from Sept-Feb with just 3 games.

GAF: Sony has no games
Sony releases games
GAF: Sony has no games
SONY: We have games coming
GAF: No you don't. Sony has no games.

This sums up many of the posts in this thread. Sony has released plenty of games and will continue to release games. Whether they are AAA or PSN titles doesn't matter. I thought games were games. Apparently I was wrong

Good for you if Sony brought you everything you want from their Studios. For my part, when I buy a console 400€, especially a console from a company that made me dream on PS3 with great titles, I want to play great games from its studios.

What about you ?

I'm quite sarisfied of my PS4. Really. But there is still a long way to go.

Well, at least if they did that, we wouldn't have to hear how they have absolutely nothing to offer this holiday season and they are doomed and will be dominated by XB1 in every thread about this fall/winter season.

I actually appreaciate how they are staggering releases, however, the lack of AA or middle studio games really sucks. I guess as Shu already talked about, Puppeteer was the last straw for Sony when it comes to the mid-level game releases and you can already see that with the emphesis on AAA and Indy games this gen. My issue has been with the lack of jrpgs., which will finally be coming to the system non stop starting this winter with Persona and through next year when FFXV, SOV, etc launch....

To be honest I don't, and I didn't even challenge his opinion.

It's quite simple, if you don't like their output then don't buy the console or sell it if you already have.

But you're right, its better that we keep on reading posts like that in every Sony related thread ad nauseam.

I dont expect any surprises unless they are low budget titles. I've not seen Sony announce any new AAA titles at E3 which would be released in the same year. I think we are going to get remasters for the rest of the year. Obvious candidates are Uncharted, Killzone, Resistance, and Beyond/Heavy Rain.

Naming Tearaway PS4 as a game to be excited for is :\

This has to be a joke post, right?

Are you seriously suggesting that Tearaway isn't a game to get excited about? Are you forgetting that the original brought extremely innovative features and approachable gameplay, was extremely well received by critics and generally loved by all who played it?

Tearaway is no slouch.

It would be pretty damn nice to have something big announced in the summer and released in the fall instead of there being a big ass interval between announcement and release like always.

Meh, I wait until E3 to judge. I am excited for No Man's Sky though. I played Tearaway on Vita and probably will not double dip. The mechanics were superb for Vita. I don't think they will translate well to a controller with no back touch pad. I'll wait and see. Hopefully they can lure me into taking another dip.

The Tearaway for PS4, gameplay wise, is a different game. There are levels and gameplay mechanics that were not present in the Vita version.

The mechanics will translate well because they will be designed from the ground up for PS4.

You just summed up why I'm not excited about it, I already played it.

But for those who haven't it'll be one fantastic game though.

SONY: "We have Persona 5 on the way"
GAF: "That doesn't count!"
*SONY throw GAF out of window*

Persona 5 isn't a game by Sony and it's cross gen, I don't see what it has to do with people saying that Sony doesn't have games (which is obviously false)

I never bought my PS4 for exclusives alone, I bought it because it offers the best bang for the buck in the console space...

I have and enjoyed infamous, driveclub and killzone, I'm yet to start bloodborne and TLoU

but its not the exclusives which make it the star it is, the 3rd party games shine on it, and the sales reflect this...

Yeah, it is. God forbid someone have an opinion that doesn't line up with yours. It would be much better if the only people who talked are the ones who agree with you so that we create an echo chamber where only positive comments about things are allowed.

Why don't you take your own advice? If you don't like people's opposing opinions, don't come on GAF so you don't have to see them instead of complaining when people say something you don't agree with.

3rd parties have The Witcher 3, MGS5, Arkham Knight, and The Division all coming out within a year (most likely). Hopefully Deus Ex:MD and Fallout 4 won't be far behind. I'll probably pick up Wolfenstein and Alien: Isolation at some point. Throw in some indies like The Witness and The Talos Principle, and my PS4 is good to go for a long, long time.

As usual, Sony's exclusives will provide the occasional distraction for me. I do enjoy their exclusives via 3rd party developers (Bloodborne, Heavy Rain, Journey, and the upcoming Rime and EGttR), but I expect nothing from their WWS at this point.
