Sony: "No concerns" about any lack of PS4 software this Holiday

I think from a business standpoint its not a great situation for Sony. Holiday season is the most important time of the year for consoles sales and MS has the better exclusive lineup and that will drive some sales for XB1.

Purely from a games standpoint it doesn't matter at all. Holiday season will be crowded with multiplats so there won't be a shortage of games to play.

Seems like a contradiction to me. If the holiday season is crowded with AAA multiplat releases, why does MS having better exclusives = more sales? The people that buy consoles for exclusives have likely done so already. From this point on, it's all about 3rd party support, price, and where your friends are. Exclusive games would rank below these and may be a deciding factor, all other things being equal.

This has to be a joke post, right?

Are you seriously suggesting that Tearaway isn't a game to get excited about? Are you forgetting that the original brought extremely innovative features and approachable gameplay, was extremely well received by critics and generally loved by all who played it?

Tearaway is no slouch.

From a competitive holiday perspective it isn't anything to be excited about. It will do worse than LBP3. It's really about what they have in their lineup that has mass market appeal to attract new consumers. Their sales this holiday will be good but just not as good as they could have been with the loss of UC4.

Yeah, it is. God forbid someone have an opinion that doesn't line up with yours. It would be much better if the only people who talked are the ones who agree with you so that we create an echo chamber where only positive comments about things are allowed.

You are coming down quite hard on this. It is also okay to disagree with ones opinion as well. God forbid you can't question someone's thought process and why they thought so?

It's not like he said anything negative too.

I'm actually curious... Where have I posted my opinion on this subject matter in this thread?

GAF: Sony has no games
Sony releases games
GAF: Sony has no games
SONY: We have games coming
GAF: No you don't. Sony has no games.

Sony has no games.
Nintendo won't be at E3.
Microsoft spent 2.5 billion Xbox dollars on Minecraft.

Quite honestly, they could announce next to nothing at E3 and still need not concern themselves about holiday sales.

What a joke... Nothing really 'wow' has been released by Sony's studios since the PS4 debut. Two christmas without anything huge on the system, and they still manage to sell PS4 without any limit.

E3 maybe. LBP3 was announced at Sony's E3 last year.

There are a ton of great games to play on the PS4 and it's only going to get better, its simple.

I never bought my PS4 for exclusives alone, I bought it because it offers the best bang for the buck in the console space...

I have and enjoyed infamous, driveclub and killzone, I'm yet to start bloodborne and TLoU

but its not the exclusives which make it the star it is, the 3rd party games shine on it, and the sales reflect this...

I understand. But given the fact that I also own a Xbox One, I should have waited for Uncharted 4.

Concerning 3rd party games, I'm still waiting for the 8th gen Bioshock, the 8th gen Mass Effect, etc... Nothing really mind blowing has been released yet. Many games have failed in giving us great experiences. TW3 is coming. I'm really confident. This gen is starting slowly. Really slowly.

The pessimist in me feels like they're gonna force the studios working on first and second party games to crunch and release this fall leading to more The Order: 1886 styled rush jobs.

Well you started off by asking him why he was upset, and then implied that he somehow was telling other people how to feel about Sony's lineup despite the fact that he didn't do anything but express his own opinion about how he felt.

It doesn't matter what your opinion on the matter is, you challenged an opinion he never even gave just because he said he didn't like Sony's lineup.
You are coming down quite hard on this. It is also okay to disagree with ones opinion as well. God forbid you can't question someone's thought process and why they thought so?

He didn't even challenge his thought process, he straight up made up an argument that the poster didn't make by trying to claim that he was trying to convince other people to be disappointed with Sony's lineup when all he said was that he personally wasn't thrilled with it.

You already played the "50% new content" of Tearaway Unfolded (compared to Tearaway Vita)? How was it?

i already played Tearaway yes.

And I'll wait before saying that this nebulous "50% new content" is actually worthwhile. For all I know it's akin to those "1h of exclusive gameplay" Ubisoft used to do for some games, or useless rehash of previous missions.

It's just taking time to ramp up this gen that's all, people want more detail, more experiences and with the big publishers being focused on AAA these things take time unfortunately...

Yes I agree with you TW3 is coming and I'm hyped for it :)

Interesting choice that, I think it would work but needs some extra work, I found the first one a bit too dry for me, however I'd love a HD port of FFXII and the dark chronicles series :)

I think SE is going to bring FFXII eventually. Dark Chronicles and Rogue Galaxy would be welcome additions to the remaster train.

I loved White Knight Chronicles. Idky either. It just was a lot of fun creating combos and transforming into a giant mechanized knight. I liked the online as well

Good for you if Sony brought you everything you want from their Studios. For my part, when I buy a console 400€, especially a console from a company that made me dream on PS3 with great titles, I want to play great games from its studios.

What about you ?

I'm quite sarisfied of my PS4. Really. But there is still a long way to go.

I bought my PS4 only for exclusives, since I play 3. party games on X1.
And so far my library has been pretty good:
MLB, Bloodborne, TLOU, Infamous SS and FL, KZ SF
haven't played Driveclub and Order yet.
It's a pretty good menu of games IMO. PS4 is only 1,5 years old.

Dominating the charts like they are, theres nothing for them to be concerned. For me however... Stating one indie game and a remaster of a Vita game like something trully relevant (read: as AAA title relevant) doesnt make me feel more comfortable.

I hope to see a surprise at E3 for PS4 this year, if not, at least a confirmation of Persona 5 for this year in NA (what I believe its unlikely).

The Tearaway for PS4, gameplay wise, is a different game. There are levels and gameplay mechanics that were not present in the Vita version.

The mechanics will translate well because they will be designed from the ground up for PS4.

Thanks for this bit of info, I haven't seen any gameplay or read any articles about it really. I blew it off when it was announced because I knew my extraordinary Vita experience would be too difficult to translate to a controller. It was a wonderful game.

Tearaway Unfolded isn't a remaster.

What else would you like him to name drop? An E3 announcement?

I enjoy playing games year round instead of buying 4-6 during christmas and spreading those throughout the year. Bloodborne has been amazing and MLB is the best sports game every year. I don't want to make a list war but the ratio of exclusives is in favor of one and not the other.

Uncharted 1-3 remaster please
i bet lots of DLC for existing games too, bloodborne, killzone, infamous, etc

Tearaway is like LBP3 , not for me so hopefully they have a lot more to offer

And "lol indie game" is still a thing? Baffles my mind.
Escpecially for a game like No Man's Sky.

it's been two years since reveal and they still haven't showed any gameplay other than some walking around. It's nothing people should be getting excited about.

Why would they be concerned?
I mean, look at the sales charts. They can stop releasing exclusives on the system and it will still end up the best selling console of the gen by a large margin.
If they stopped releasing exclusives then I'd have zero reason to get one. Same goes for XBO and Wii U.

I don't get where the idea exclusives don't matter came from, but I think that's a very misguided thought. For those of us who figure "hey, why not just get the PC version of (multiplatform game) since it'll have the best graphics and free online!", we need console exclusives to drive us to said console.

The only exceptions to this are console exclusives that are also on PC, but where it's reasonable to assume the vast majority of players are on console (SFV).

double jump

you haven't lived until a random little kid ask you "how do you make love".
There is plenty for gamers to get excited about already, such as Tearaway for PS4 and No Man's Sky.

man if you don't get outta here with that fuckshit.
I want some real games son. Don't get me wrong, those games seem very innovative and ambitious. But I want them in house AAA big action Sony titles.

Anything announced at e3 will most likely get pushed to next year.
Looking like 3rd parties going to win the holidays. This is disappointing cause I'm not interested in any of the annual franchises. Heck the only game I'm looking forward to is mgsv atm.

Considering Sony apparently nabbed the advertising rights to Battlefront and COD surely this year was in the bag anyway, with or without an interesting exclusive line up. If they do have a bunch of interesting exclusives to bring to holidays too then I can see this being a landslide victory for them. No Man's Sky alone got a whole load of people's attention and if they have anything else that turns head like that did, well it's gonna be an interesting year.

NMS and Tearaway is more than enough for me, I still have Knack and Killzone to play but X1 looks to have a better holiday for now.

2016 is starting to look like the year for PS4 though. Uncharted 4, Rachet and Street Fighter in Q1? Yes please.

I'm drowning in "concern"

Here, put on this red life preserver of no games outrage. That will save you.

I don't see why any of the console makers would want to put their exclusives next to CoD, Battlefront and the like. Why not release your exclusives against little competition and make a killing? I believe there will be holiday titles, but they won't be betting the farm on anything. Why set yourself up for likely failure when a month like April could be all yours.

Really? Man, I remember I saw them flying around in spaceships.

Getting excited again
