The Witcher 3: Is your system ready - Nvidia official system requirements

Yeah, somewhere between 960 & 970.

I guess people with mid-end 2gb cards would be fine on medium-high settings if not aiming at 60 fps. I think the 960 can even reach uber settings at 30 fps.

Somewhere between 960 and 970? More like same as 970 with the Ti beating it in some benchmarks.

Right now I have an i5 2500k CPU and a GTX570 GPU. Thinking of buying a GTX970 and hope that it will be enough for the game, while keeping the CPU.

That's my setup. I used to have an i5 2500k + GTX 570, upgraded to a 970 a few months back. HUGE difference. Never really felt limited by the CPU either (4.5GHz OC)

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
I like the break down based on settings and resolution.

Posting general min/max part requirements is outdated and often inaccurate.

So I assume my gaming laptop With:

Intel core i7 4710mq 2.5ghz (3.5 with turboboost)
8gb ddr3 ram
Nvidia geforce gtx 860m 4gb graphics card

Are going to struggle then, by the looks of this.

So 970 owners can achieve stable 60 fps @ 1080p on high settings I guess. That is good enough for me.

If this is true, that's some good news right there

i5-4670K
Gigabyte GTX 970 G1
8GB RAM
SSD
comfy couch PC gaming on 1080p TV.

READY!

really curious how much I can squeeze out of this rig in terms of extra bells and whistles (GameWorks, AA, etc.)

Which mobile GPUs by Nvidia are fast enough for this game? Consider to buy a gaming notebook instead of a PS4. So I can use the WLAN of my university for big patches and downloading games.

you probably can do 1080p 30fps high. Maybe OC the 860m. if it's Maxwell you can easily do +135/+300.

Is this another nvidia's "buy our new cards or you'll be dooomed!!" campaign?
I remember nvidia announcing Watch Dogs' requirements, where 680 was bare minimum, but I found that it actually ran pretty fine on my 660ti on high settings.

As a note these are settings at which the card stays 40fps+ even in the most demanding scenes. And this wasn't the final build of the game.

Indeed

Why is it necessary to show 3 different settings for the GTX 960? Why not just say high settings?

Because the 900 Series was all we had time to test, and some people would inevitably ask.

So where does my 780 Ti fit? Under the 970 right? So high-uber 1080p?

Edit: Why is there 3 different settings for the 960? What does that even mean? Which one is it?

We show generalized comparative performance in http://international.download.nvidi...shared/images/products/shared/lineup-full.png, but it can't fully account for the better tessellation performance of the 900 Series, which does have an impact in this game.

And the 960 is all three, as clarified above.

I'll pop this in here not to get buried in the other thread.

You started using webm's in your articles? Awesome! I take it the Performance Guide noted at the bottom is a WIP for around release day? Great work as per usual.

WebM is something I'm trying because HairWorks and PhysX effects look far better in motion than in static screenshots.

Guide will hopefully be complete for the release.

The wording makes it seem like the game doesn't have Hairworks on for ennemies with coats made of fur. So maybe Eatchildren was right.

The wording is fully accurate. There are no HairWorks-enhanced coats.

I'm reading the article but I don't see what fps those setting can produce. I assume (hope) the chart means 60fps.

The idea is 40+ in demanding moments. It isn't the final build, so I don't want to get into specifics.

What does Gameworks do?

A collection of technologies we offer to developers to make their games look better with minimal work. https://developer.nvidia.com/gameworks-visualfx-overview

What is gameworks?

As above.

kind of silly how they dont list anything other than 960 for low medium and high

Proper testing takes a considerable amount of time. We'll hopefully have more configs listed in my guide on Monday, but I can't guarantee that.

Really hoping AMD optimization isnt too bad. If a 960 can pull off High at 40fps+ then Im hoping my 7970 should be able to do a mix of high and ultra at 60fps.

Hey Andy, three questions:

1) For your tweak guide, are you guys sticking with the standard settings, or will you be looking into advanced CFG tweaks too?

2) Do you know why CDPR have recently demo'd the game using standard SSAO and not HBAO? IGN's live stream being an example.

3) Could you send me a G-Sync monitor?

Thanks.

@Andy the chart in the OP suggests it won't be possible with gameworks. Isn't HBAO+ and Hairworks the biggest components of game works?

Well considering you can basically overclock any 970 to just shy of 980 performance, and in some cases beat it, if a stock 970 isn't quite up to snuff you can make it so in just a minute or two.

So from the chart I gather I can get 1920x1080, Uber settings w/ GameWorks at 60FPS with the following system:

I7 5820K@4.3GHZ
16GB DDR4@2100MHZ
GTX 970 SLI G1
W8.1

Right...Andy?

None the less, thanks for doing this Andy I'm sure many appreciate the effort it takes to test the game on multiple cards.

2) No idea
3) Send me the cost of the monitor and I'll order you one on Amazon :)

But a stable 30fps at 1080p at Uber settinsg with Gameworks enabled on a single 970 shouldn't be a problem? I've got no issue playing at 30fps.

I wouldn't like to speculate with a not-final build. But it stands to reason that a 970 OC'd to 980 speeds would be capable of hitting the recommendation in my chart.

I am just gonna crank every setting to max , watch my 780 ti Classified scream in mortal agony and see what i get from it. # YOLO

My laptop has the same specs. I'll drop the res down to 720p if I have to :(

Just built this rig back in Feb for this game:

Intel 4970K
16 GB RAM
Nvidia GTX 980
Gsync monitor

It looks like my choice to go with the 980 instead of the 970 and it's memory issues is going to pay off!

:)

GTX 970 G1 here, I'm just waiting on real world benchmarks to see if I should get that i7 or the i5 4690k will be more than enough...

Fair enough, I've got a decent enough OC on my 970 (1500Core/4000Mem) so I should manage okay.

Sweet!

5930K @ 4.3
32GB DDR4
GTX 980 OC
1 TB SSD

This hooked to my 1080p HDTV. Bring on Witcher 3 and its uber settings with gameworks! :D

Well, that's a different matter as everyone's mileage with overclocking varies. Best is to understand how systems perform at stock. Then it will be up to individuals to figure out how far they can push it.

Does the chart include AA/TXAA?

Andy I know the article says the driver will launch shortly before the game on Tuesday but it's going live 4 PM PST on Monday. Is there any chance the driver will be ready by then?

Oh definitely and really show the benefits of anti-aliasing techniques like TXAA. Then again you guys normally have a video when that's available. Look forward to your guide.
