any news on console patches?

think i've gotten used to the performance but squeezing out a little more would be nice.

1.0.3 was sent up for certification last week which takes about 7 days typically. They should have news this week about the patch.

Everything you said sounds nice in theory until the hitboxes rears its ugly head. It's really stupid when you're up against multiple enemies and each enemy hits you one after another, which stunlocks you to death on Death March. Even when you dodge an attack you'll still can get hit which is even more apparent on large enemies.

The camera is still awkward even when you're not locked on since Geralt shifts targets if you accidentally tilt the camera. And don't get me started on indoor combat; it fucking blows against multiple human opponents.

Now I think the combat is cool, but you make it seem like the person you replied to isn't playing the game well. Quen us basically essentially on Death March because of the hitboxes. And Bloodborne's combat is not slow: I've played the game for 130 hours so I can attest to this.
You blame it on hit boxes. My point is that the problem isn't the hit boxes but you playing poorly (unless you're indoors then I agree that we're all screwed). Don't get surrounded such that you can get interrupted by multiple enemies all hitting you at the same time and don't attack, even if you've just dodged one enemy, if you see another one charging in from behind him. If you find yourself chain dodging since they all attack one after another, then make your own opening with a sign or bomb. Heck, crossbow one to stagger him then dodge/strike the other guy.

For dodging/rolling, you need to dodge/roll away or past attacks. There are no invincibility frames so you actually have to travel in a direction that the attack won't hit you. This means that if the attack is coming in from your right, you might get hit if you dodge to your right. If an attack has long reach, you won't dodge it by moving directly away either since it will still get you. Similarly, you can roll under some attacks that are tall such as some of the griffin's swings. The hitboxes are (so far) amazing in this regard since it's actually tracking where the attack travels and Geralt's body.

Quen is in no way necessary for Death March. It only absorbs one hit so you'll still die if you're not dodging everything else. Sometimes the best defence is a good offence so I'm preferring to start with Quen out of combat (and then stamina regens almost instantly to be ready for another sign) and then mostly not using it for the rest of the fight since I'd rather make openings by interrupting opponents with Igni and Aard. The opening Quen allows me to be a bit more aggressive on the initial offence since I can absorb that one hit which might equal one extra swing I can get in and possibly killing one small, fast enemy which will help in the remainder of the fight.

While I do play it safe (much like DS1&2), wait for an opening and attack, that's how I'm successful through the game. I never button mash, I take it slow and that's how I usually work. I also rarely ever use any magic other than "slow", so I just stick with melee and such.

As for the vids, I'm not really that interested in making videos on youtube. All I really want to do is just get through the great story and put it away for the next game on the list.

For the record, while I like my combat like the Souls games (Demon and Dark), I never compared it or wanted it to be like Bloodborne. For some reason, that combat gets lumped in when talking about "Souls" games.
Alright, so it sounds like you just don't like that more methodical approach to combat and/or taking risks to get extra attacks in. Great that you're enjoying the story and world, though!

I asked earlier but got no reply, is there a quest as fantastic as the gathering feathers quest for dude in the hut in Witcher 2?

I got to that one, was thinking "oh great, here come the boring fetch quest, quests" and there was an actual reason for it that made me lol.

If nothing tops that here, w2 > w3

Does anyone know the order in which the side quests should be done in White Orchard so none are missed?

so..decided to simulate a world state...put all the choices i made in the witcher 2 (360 version,so no save file for me),but still the story didn't go as it went in my save file

no witch hunt starts in my ending, but it's in full swing in the game, and triss too talks about the slaughter of mages at loc muinne...that it didn't happen at the end of my game...

it's kinda disappointing..I remade the same choice exactly for that reason..otherwise i might have choosen some different world state

one should max out regular Axii anyway. not being hit while casting it makes it goat, and the alt is great for bandit camps / random question marks
Yeah, upgraded regular Axii, as I recently found out, is a pretty marvelous "combo extender" for single tough fights

Hit an enemy who is quick to retaliate twice, cast Axii, and even if they're in middle of an attack, upgraded Axii interrupts it, then flank them while they're stunned and give them a few heavy strikes in the rear.

ok I fucking HATE the comic book recap stuff when you're reloading a bunch on a hard section

i'd rather just a loading screen. shouldnt take long either on an SSD

grinds my gears to keep listening to the same shit

So sharp on High, Low or off? If it isn't on high, looks real blurry. But when on high, grass looks like it could cut you.

I can't decide on were to put that setting at.

Just got to Skellige and started sailing around, seeing all the cool landmarks. Gonna try not to use fast travel at all. Haven't felt sense of adventure like this before in a game. Amazing.

As far as I know, everyone is fair game except Triss in that scenario.

How is this even possible. The more sidequests I do the more that pops up on my map with the yellow exclamation point. . is there an end to this madness in Velen?

Radovid/Oxenfurt/lvl15ish spoilers

Did anyone else get completely fucked by
the witch hunters during the hunt for Phillipa quest? When I got back to Radovid, they had taken the credit for everything and Radovid basically called me a jealous bitch for trying to tell the truth and tossed me out. It was super jarring and actually really awesome because I feel like that never happens in games.

Is anyone else also playing with poi off?
I am. Not using fast travel either. I think it adds a lot.

Of course, first thing I did after the general video optional. It's fun to explore the world myself and be surprised by poi's. There is even a sense of accomplishment when you mark sonething on the map thst looks like it could be interesting snd it indeeed is.

I ran into one southeast of the Nilfgaard camp in Velen. He was level 12 and a pushover. Easy to dodge and easy to set on fire.

By a happy accident he was also
guarding the mastercraft ursine armour

Mine was level 21, fire did some damage but he took forever to take down.

If you died and load most recent save, there's no recap. If you manually load a save, it is loading and you can skip the rest of the dialogue once it loads with X on controller. Just wail away on X.

The only time it's great is when you're doing the Witches quest and he keeps repeating Crookback Bog and pronouncing it in a very weird way.

I like that there is a decoction that incentivises that. Forget which it was, maybe Nightwraith, but your max HP increases by 50 every time you kill an enemy, but the buff goes away if you fast travel or meditate.

Once I got from like 5k health to 7.8k

Just commented on this to myself earlier today. When entering Velen I get the same one from like 20 playtime hours ago. Really annoying hearing the same damn narration!

Yeah, nearly all of them are better.

I dunno. The payoff for the witcher 2 one was fantastic.

Just played a couple rounds of gwent. Loving it. Finally left White Orchard after 16 hours there. Decided it was time to go after I swam through a lake as fast as I could to dodge some drowners trying to find out was sunk under the lake.

Did the Wild At Heart quest. What happens if
you agree to stop the search? I let the werewolf tear her ass apart. Heartless girl getting her sister killed in her pursuit of some cock.

Anyone know when the next batch of free DLCs is supposed to drop? I really dig the alternate look for Yen and would like to have that before I head to where she's at.

nope. die, reload save = recap

it oddly depends on the situation but it still tends to happen mid quest

Is my map bugged? I do two or three easy sidequests: fist fighting, helping a mother find her son, races, etc. and more quest markers pop up on my map. I thought I was almost done but now I have even more and more points of interest. . I'm starting to think I should just go through the main story. I won't be able to finish this game anytime soon if I try to do every sidequest but there are great ones like the one that had me reunite with
