If you played/purchased Master Chief Collection between launch and December 19th, 2014 they are giving you ODST on Xbox One for free.
Glad they made good on their release date of May. Just in time for the weekend!

Yes. I played single player and couldn't get into any multiplayer matches. Hopefully this isn't only for people who actually got to play the multiplayer. That would be really shitty.

Do you still need MCC in your disc drive to be able to play it? Got rid of my copy a few months back.
You didn't have to play multiplayer, you just had to appear online while playing the game in any capacity.

Refunded the game (digital) a month after launch and just got one. Gonna be interesting to see what this does. I assume it'll just unlock it if and when I get the game again.
edit: well it got redeemed successfully but no indication of anything beyond that in my account history/transaction log. I'll get the collection again in time so I assume I'll have it then.

I didn't touch the multiplayer either until it was fixed and got one, so hopefully they sending them in batches and you'd get one soon.

I got my key today here in germany. Cant wait to finally play ODST in english, the german dub was horrible
Playing it without the cast of Firefly voicing it is completely pointless, that's about 50%* of what made ODST great.
*according to my very scientific estimates

You needed to have played the game online before December 19.
ODST honestly has very little impact on the overarching storyline. It's a little side story, it takes place during the 2nd and 3rd mission of Halo 2 though, when the Chief is on Earth.
Also, lol at the "outrage" for 343 not hitting their May release date.
