E3 2015 Predictions & Discussion thread

First Prediction: Star Fox for Wii U will prominently feature foot missions and all-range mode, the internet will lose its collective shit until they actually play it.

Is Star Fox even that big a franchise that the Internet will just explode? I mean, the Nintendo faithful might piss and moan, but the masses likely wouldn't bat an eye if the game featured Fox McCloud taming Slippy's slimy ass with some kind of battery operated pleasure device.

Well...maybe then.

It's meaningless. Who cares what he says? If Sony have 'dropped the ball' for him, then fine. If you disagree, fine. On we roll, the same shit being thrown around, and all the while loads of games come out to play. That's the important thing, fuck it.

I love gaming, but I have to question why I come on gaming forums.

What? It's OK then when someone says things like that one?

With respect to 1st party AAA, a strong case can be made for Sony dropping the ball this year.

But with 3rd party exclusives coming, it's all moot anyways.

DQ: Heroes, P5 and SO5; hell of a trifecta

Nope! Probably you know shit about exclusive games for PS4 this year when you write things like that. Sad that there is someone who agree with you.

The selective perception is getting ridiculous now. Everyone is just parroting the same shit over and over with no thought. Look at what's been released throughout all of 2015 and tell me who's dropping the ball.

Is SO5 supposed to come out this year? I've been thinking of it as a 2016 release considering how long it takes SE to develop games since I don't remember reading a release date for it.

It isn't?!

D:

If so, that gives me time to start and finish SO4 lol

They haven't announced a date, which means it's probably not hitting 2015.

I need to start the Star Ocean series.

So the best way to stop the sharing of meaningless opinions is to share your own meaningless opinion? You fault him for criticizing someone's opinion, and you do this by criticizing his opinion?

Sounds logical.

With all respect, it's stupid statement.Only 1st party exclusives matters now??? So, MS has Halo 5 and FM6 from 1st party TROUGH WHOLE YEAR, Sony has Bloodborne and MLB also, but WHAT ABOUT OTHER EXCLUSIVES? They don't count?

Well...maybe then.

The name Starfox itself might not resonate as strongly as Zelda or Metroid, but if they show really surprising and well designed gameplay that goes above and beyond what you'd expect from the franchise, then it could absolutely be one of those games that gets the entire convention center buzzing.

When the question is specifically about Sony dropping the ball with respect to first party games, then yes, first party games matter, and quite a bit.

Edit: Also, please stop shouting. It demeans us all.

Oh absolutely. If they introduce some astounding new whatever (it's late...brain not work now), I can see the enthusiast crowd lighting up.

I just find it hard to believe the Internet would shit its collective britches for a couple on-foot segments.

Having Uncharted 4 ready for the Holidays would have been ideal, but let's continue this discussion after E3.

Sony may surprise us and release some compelling 1st party software this Fall.

Agreed on that point about MS release schedules, but that's a headache for XB1 gamers, so I can't really comment on that (don't have an XB1).

If someone is spreading factually incorrect statements as fact, its in the best interest of everyone if people more in the know counter that with logical statements. This is true for anything and while it may seem trivial in the grand scheme of things “Its only videogames, no one is going to die etc.” it does no good to let wrong opinions spread and ultimately become true through enough people believing it.

I cant stand reading some of the arguments that goes on here regarding Sony and their apparent lack of exclusives, considering a quick trip to wiki or the site that compares each consoles lists of exclusives (cant for the life of me remember it right now) it will show that it’s the other way round and Microsoft has far fewer exclusives released so far this year. If you let people spout nonsense it has the chance to change other opinions and that can spread, this is how things like the anti-vaccinators happens (Not that the situations are as serious of course).

Anyway, but nobody says the same for MS, isn't it? LOL! They got a pass

Honestly, I think it's because of Halo 5.

That game/franchise is so huge in terms of mind-share that it literally outweighs most PS exclusives.

The only PS games that measure up to Halo in terms of hype/anticipation by most fans (and the media) would GoW/Uncharted/GT.

All this concern regarding Sony's 1st party output this Fall would be significantly lessened if U4 was still launching this year.

Are we treating Bloodborne as a 1st party exclusive? It was published by Sony.

The Uncharted Collection was great, but I don't see much outside of that. A surprise would be nice, however.

Well, they have Halo, soooo...

I don't know if Microsoft is getting a pass so much as Sony is catching an unusually large amount of hell because of Andrew House's recent statements regarding Sony's first party offerings for the year. He exposed a weakness, and now people are hitting that weak spot for massive damage.

Basically, there were always anti-Sony people carrying pitchforks. House's statements lit those pitchforks on fire.

Edit: And yes, I realize there are also anti-MS and anti-Nintendo people out there (which is all just so fucking stupid, but whatever), so there's no need for anyone to point that out. But this discussion is centered on Sony. So there.

Also The Order 1886(yeah), Bloodborne, MLB The Show 15 and Until Dawn. They all released before October though...

They released before October so though so...

Yea, that pre-season talking point by the Xbox Team at MS has done a pretty good job at perpetuating this myth.

Hope Until Dawn reviews well, because Sony exclusives need more critical (and commercial) success this gen.

They've been pretty ho-hum, for the most part.

It's all about games for me. Who care if they are 1st or 3rd party? I want to enjoy games and for a gamer it shouldnt make any diffrence where that game is coming from.

All these predictions about Verendus

Yea right, he's not going to be the CEO idk why you'd pen him as Andrew House or anybody. There's a great number of people in these companies, plenty could be doing this bit of teasing.

Nameless cog somewhere in the machine, probably marketing or somewhere where he has the authority to do his little teases.

lmao, ouch

New post, since I wrote more than I thought.

Here we go:

JRPG #1
JRPG #2
JRPG #3
JRPG #4
JRPG #5
New Shadow Hearts
Final Fantasy spin-off RPG
New SE console RPG IP
Final Fantasy X spin-off
FF7 spin-off
FF6 remake
Square Enix crossover game
New Parasite Eve
Monster Hunter PS4
DMC5
New Capcom TPS IP (Because we need more TPS)
New EA IP
New Ubisoft IP
New Prince of Persia
New Naval RPG
New Cyberpunk Action/Adventure/RPG IP
New Sega Action/Adventure IP
New Marvel Action/Adventure title
New Soul Calibur
New Rockstar IP

This is too much, I wanna cry.

I'm gonna ask but I'd understand if you can't answer or you don't know. Who's making Shadow Hearts, and how is it possible? The IP is owned by Universal Entertainment Corporation, formerly Aruze Inc, and their only business is pachislot. Most of the former Nautilus development team joined feelplus, which was merged into AQ Interactive which was later merged with Marvelous. Meanwhile, the series' director is freelance and hasn't worked on much except Arms' Heart for the PSP.

And you probably can't answer this, but why Shadow Hearts? Who out there in the world of video games would care about Shadow Hearts?

Is there going to be a spoiler free E3 thread this year?
I probably can't watch all of them live, but I really don't want to get spoiled before I see the announcements myself.

Is Parasite Eve beloved around here? I never played either of the two games. Are they scary?

Sub-Silent Hill levels of scariness, but a next gen version could pretty sick.

The problem with Verendus' list is that he made a point to say "don't worry about when" re when we'll hear about them so it could be anywhere between E3 and 2 years time before we see them. The vast majority probably won't be at E3 so you just have to hope that the most exciting ones do show up because afterall.. it's E3. We want a big show.

Yes, it could take one or two AAA reveals from Sony...but realistically, would any of those come out this year? I highly doubt it...and yes, I could be wrong!

Xbox One has the momentum going forward this year...but will most likely lose it as the new year comes, because then Uncharted 4 is near, plus whatever is revealed will be that much closer. Did Sony drop the ball with exclusives this year? Pretty much, yes...but thats not honestly a bad thing in the long run.

The Sony install base is almost double anyways, worldwide...that position wont change anytime soon. They will always sell, and lead globally, for the rest of this generation. Even if Xbox overtakes in the US by end of year, or mid next year...its not "hurting" Sony. Although, i find it more likely, this generation is always going to be close between the two, here in the US.

How does Xbox one have the momentum on exclusives when their release schedule has been pretty much empty since releasing MCC (which is still broken)? I would think that the console with Bloodborne, MLB, and several months of upcoming exclusives would be the one with momentum worldwide.

With respect to 1st party AAA, a strong case can be made for Sony dropping the ball this year.

But with 3rd party exclusives coming, it's all moot anyways.

DQ: Heroes, P5 and SO5; hell of a trifecta

If you believe a case can be made for Sony dropping the ball on first party exclusives this year, I suppose that's a decent discussion. But to let Microsoft off the hook is just silly. The first 9 months of this year from them wasn't just sparse, it was very nearly empty.

This is how you open the field for speculation and for people to get hyped if they choose to do so, not that outright event butchering that guy wants to do on his podcaat.

I would rather ignore 90% of V's list for now and focus on JRPG1 and JRPG2
also YAAAAY SOUL CALIBUR!!

JRPG1 has to be Level 5's game. 5 outcomes for it: Dark Cloud game, Rogue Galaxy game, Dragon Quest game, Ni No Kuni game or New IP. I rule WKC game out because they said they wanted bigger (iirc). I'd die with a Rogue Galaxy, I'd be really pleased with Dark Cloud, DQ or Ni No Kuni and I'd be moderately excited but optimistic with a new IP. We'll see at E3.

JRPG2 is the confusing one for me. If we are talking first-party, I can't really put my finger on what it's going to be. Verendus, will this one get announced at E3 too?

I also really hope SE earns back a more predominant spot in the industry.

I'd start a new fun thread but I'm a Junior member. So... What do you guys think the official name for Morpheus will be? Or do you think they'll stick with Morpheus?

I keep seeing this. Does Microsoft have a huge 1st party lineup right now? Unless only the rest of this year counts, this year hasn't been very strong with Microsoft so far for 1st party. And even by the end of the year, there's a total of what? 3 1st party games from them?

Not trying to derail or start a stupid console war. I'm just not seeing why this particular argument is against Sony.

Take Halo out of Microsofts end of year lineup and suddenly it looks a lot different; very unimpressive.

Then when you consider that it's coming from a developer that released a much maligned MCC and probably the most derided game in the series (4), I don't think MS deserves the label of "best end of year lineup" particularly.

Similarly of UC4 made it in time for Xmas, suddenly the Sony lineup would look a lot stronger. From the perspective of enthusiasts, I think most would agree that a Naughty Dog game trumps a 343 one in terms of hype and expectation of delivery.

Basically what I'm trying to say is there's very little in it.

Off the top of my head...

  • Halo 5: Guardians
  • Forza Motorsport 6
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider
  • Gears of War: Ultimate Edition
  • Fable Legends

PS4 has Uncharted Collection... and I think that's it?

edit: Should've read your post better! Thought you were referring to the holiday lineup, not the entire year. So obviously include Bloodborne in the above.
