I'm really disappointed with Selyse's turn. It's not at all like her character, and kind of shows that D&D are weirdly unwilling to show a woman (who isn't Mel) do anything bad.

Nothing will ever look natural when you're dealing with stuff like people climbing on imaginary CG creatures.

What you hope for a television production like this is that it doesn't resemble this

Yeah, the dragon riding is never going to look good. That was about as good as you were ever going to get. The only other alternative was to try to shoot it in a way where people would see a lot less, which probably would have felt anticlimactic for the scene.

Jesus Christ, guys. It's like you guys were set on nitpicking from the second that scene aired.

It was fine. Move on.

I actually liked Daario this past episode. Dunno. I've never really liked him in the show or the books but I was enjoying his banter with Dany and Hizdahr.

I'll say it again. Anyone who complains about the graphics, point me towards any other show of this scope that does it better.

I can't think of one. Movies, sure, but we're far from those budgets.

Just finished the episode...

The Unsullied in this season make Stormtroopers look competent. Also, Ramsay full title right now is Ramsay Bolton, Heir to the Warden of the North, Eunuch Maker, Unleasher of Dogs, Raper of Wolves, Master of Guerrilla Warfare.

That episode did nothing for me.

This last episode...what the hell? Unsullied are now worth as much as clowns in halloween masks who patiently wait for Dany's emotional reunion with Drogon before firing their spears. And Stannis somehow thinks roasting his heir is a good idea because Westeros is so fond of kinslayers? Hopefully they save the show by pulling the 'it was all just a dream' card.

I never asked for this crown. Gold is cold and heavy on the head, but so long as I am the king, I have a duty … If I must sacrifice one child to the flames to save a million from the dark … Sacrifice … is never easy, Davos. Or it is no true sacrifice.

He lost it.

Tyrion feels so second hand this episode that I'm scared that he might end up being second hand for the rest of the show. I know I'm exaggerating but I don't trust D&D to flesh out this characters on their own.

Dude got an Emmy, he'll be fine.

edit: yeah and they cut out the book where he does FUCK ALL, they couldn't WAIT to give him something interesting to do.

well this is the part of the novels that Tyrion basically just went around having slave/mercenary adventures while dealing with little people jokes wasn't it? At least they cut that out

Tyrion is probably the biggest improvement over the books in season 5, he'll be fine.

Personally I believe these changes mean nothing. D&D are doing whatever they want, and it's only going to get "worse" next season, where there's no book material at all to scrib from. I actually look forward to that disaster.

my god, you usually suck the fun out of things like this?

You know I'm actually worried about next seasons, the supernatural elements are going to be more prevalent and so are the budget demands, for instance Dany has to be now next to her dragon(s) constantly, the wight army is going to need more screentime as does the night's king, the white walkers, etc not to mention Bran and the Children if they ever decide to pick that up, I wonder if they are going to be able to do it justice.

Just finished the episode. Not good, fellas.

That was easily the worst "episode 9" of the series. Not terrible but overall it was too inconsistent for me to enjoy. Starting out with the ridiculous first scene: twenty men somehow infiltrating a 6000 man camp and burning every valuable item, including siege weapons? This is a perfect example of plot contrivances being used to force an end result. How do you get Stannis to a point where he's desperate enough to burn his daughter, an act he has outright refused to do while also affirming her position as his heir? Well, you get 20 men to burn all his resources, obviously. Sort of like how they turned elite Unsullied warriors into Storm Troopers earlier this season, or how the "best Ironborn soldiers" wound up running away from dogs last season.

I won't dwell on this anymore (well...for now) but let's just say I did not like the burning scene. At all.

Then the Dany stuff. Nope. That felt very Clone Wars-esque to me. A huge spectacle with very little tension. Worse yet, the harpies basically turned the thing into a turn based RPG instead of just slaughtering Dany. Why wait for her to cast "Dragon," fucking kill her. Speaking of which, why were the harpies killing former slave owners? Anyway...

I'll forgive the CGI issue of Dany riding on the dragon. It's hard to pull that off. However I can't forgive the generally cheesy way in which the scene was set up, or dues ex dragona way in which he arrived. Just an odd decision, dramatics wise. Not a fan.
