Do you think they will still do CG trailers? I kind of hope they do what The Last of Us did on PS3 and just use the PS3 assets at higher quality for the cutscenes. I'd rather maintain consistency than have a strange moment where Cloud and co look 10x better for a brief moment. Dunno if they will be able to have fire tech to do the Sephiroth scene justice though.

SE can create more fancy fire effect and record in-engine FMV that can be reendered at 1fps if needed. When all is stitched together, end result will be nice 30fps FMV animation.

I hope the ??? Cave gets developed into a full dungeon. Yuffie gets Wutai and her vehicle sickness developments, but all Vincent gets is a single room cave and a flashback. If he's in the party going against Hojo he gets an extra quip or two in but otherwise the dudes just there. I mean I know he got his whole own game for character development and what not, but it couldn't hurt to add alil something more to the main game!

I'd laugh if both Aeris and Tifa snapped at him.
Unless they plan on having every party member show up in every scene such a role would have to be abit interchangeable. Another thing is if they snap at him to early or to hard would he still want to join up with 'em?

Looks the same to me

#teamaries tifa was such a desperate housewife. Cloud wanted Aries, tifa got his sloppy seconds.

Uh not even close. Downplaying Cloud's relationship with Tifa is completely the wrong thing no matter who you personally prefer.

The opening would be so much better if it was real time and the game just seemlessly transitions to jumping off the train, Barrett telling you to move your ass, and then you go.

The intro seems like something they could do in real time. The overhead shot of Midgar is really the only large scale part of it.

Wonder how big this production is. Remaking this game with the probable visual fidelity we'll get must be one hell of a daunting task. I just hope that not too many compromises are made and that the soundtrack is done serious, serious justice. I'm very excited and nervous at once.

. #TeamAeris all the way.

Speaking of Aeris, has anyone pointed out yet that, at the 0:48 mark of the trailer, it looks like there's a reflection of Aeris in the puddle? Am I ultra late in that observation?

Actually, I might be really reaching there.

But for real. GAF.

Is it possible that Aries could potentially be 'saved'.

I just feel like that her death was such an integral part of the story that by saving her, it would contradict a lot of the events that happened in Advent Children.

It's not. Read my post from before.

Repost :D

Also, one key thing to note. They are using pre-FFVII Compilation Buster Sword design.

This is the Compilation Buster Sword design:

552794183566E0000D

And this is the original Buster Sword design, before the Compilation:

5527941A3578000002

This design is being used in Dissidia.

So, they're staying more faithful to the original designs for the remake and seem to be pushing aside the Compilation, at least for this.

Cloud wanted Tifa, he became a Shinra crook for Tifa, nearly got himself killed to go after Tifa, took down Sephiroth once for her.
It's the Mako-exposed, not-Zack "Cloud" that wants Aeris. I've always gone with the safe assumption it was imprinting-ish love, so fake love.

And you're a 100% wrong. The creators have made it clear with their comments he loved her and he never does or says anything to make you think it's false love. He doesn't share any memories of Aeris too so false love makes no sense.

By the way, I don't say this as evidence he doesn't care about Tifa. Contrary to what many believe, I think he loved both girls and the game leaves it up to your interpretation of who he ends up with. However, I think Aeris gets the bigger push compared to Tifa.

Nah. I like her but her death has a huge impact and the ending is so much better because of it.

I just hope they extend her time with the party before the death.

No he didn:t. Cloud lies were basically because he liked Tifa since young.

I liked a girl in school to, After school I liked another girl.

Regardless if he forgets/lies his feelings for tifa, he shows genuine love for aeris, that he never shows (in game) for tifa. Even that scene in front of the airship between cloud and tifa feels like her being desperate.

Likewise zack and aeries relationship isn't that fleshed out because they were young and zack was off receiving poetry lessons.

I find myself wondering if they will do something to the title to signify it's the remake. A subtitle maybe or kingdom hearts style, "Re:Final Fantasy VII"

Final Fantasy VII: Reunion

Not only would the subtitle of Reunion make sense in the context of the games story. It would also has a dual meaning to the long time fans finally being able to return to a beloved game they played years ago but will be different from their first time.

It's like encountering an old friend you haven't seen many years. They grew up, possibly married and have children, and even may have grown out of some old habit or trait you fondly remember about them, but despite the new things they are ultimately the same person you met years ago at their core.

"The reunion at hand my bring joy, it may bring fear, but let us embrace whatever it brings"

Verendus said the death is in.

Aerith death is iconic and sets the mood for the rest of the game, her death is unlike any other in Final Fantasy history before her. Once she died she gone for good, no one just appears to take her place and there is now way to revive her.

Everyone who worked on the game agrees who important her death is and how it has had a great impact on not only the players but the staff.

How each of the other characters react to her death is just as great:
Barret shaking his head and putting his hand on Cloud trying to console him.
Tifa stroking Aerith hair before running away and crying
Red XIII howling over her
Cid looking up
Yuffie crying in Cloud arms

And obviously Cloud taking her body to the lake.

Having her come back would not be cool with me.

plus zack and aeris CC is practically a ridiculous retcon based on existing moments in the original + Zack magically influencing her every aspect.

What does Cait Sith do? Something really stupid and goofy I bet.

How is it a retcon when a relationship was heavily implied in the original?

Aerith can like Zack and she can also like Cloud as well after two years.

Most of their major moments together are things that happened in the original game, which was designed to stand alone with no hint of retreading something in the past (barring the playground)

Zack falls through the roof, just like Cloud!

Zack and Aerith promise a date just like in the original!

and then you get garbage like him buying her ribbon, (when she was already wearing them as a kid) to wear more pink, giving her the idea of selling flowers.

t r a s h

He dances to try to lig lighten the mood but stops looks at Cloud and looks down and walks away.

Vincent looks at Aeirth then at CLoud before he walks away.

Classic Cait Sith.

Nothing, because he is a useless piece of shit

Woah, hey now, let's not go overboard. He might be a doofus, but he's still part of the original crew. Show some respect for the little mechanical kitty riding on top of a stuffed Mog!

I agree with this. Maybe style it as FFVII: R so that it could also stand for remake. Just no pretentious Latin, please.

There's nothing wrong with their relationship being fleshed out. It's that they use iconic moments between Cloud and Aeris as a means to do it.

You've said this before Kagari and it slays me every time. My two favorite series. What will I do? ;_;

First world gamer problems. >_>
You will buy them both, play them intermittently, publicly complain about having to divide your attention between them, but internally be quite happy that you're playing and enjoying two of your favorite games. Afterward, you will discuss them on the internet, likely including NeoGAF.

Random thought I had. It'll be nice if in the Gold Saucer you can play the original FFVII minigames as a little extra for fans.

See, that makes sense if you think about it. With this context, I can understand why he died to three dudes after.

I just believe that Zack wouldn't have been caught off guard by three guys. The whole army vs Zack (Zack's Last Stand), while a bit over the top, justifies his death to me, because he fought off around 1000 right before the last three gunned him down.
See, I think the bombastic display of superhuman battles in the Compilation skewed people's perception in relation to the original game. A lone fighter losing a fight against three soldiers with machine guns shouldn't need any justification.

Now that the FF7 Remake takes all the spotlight, i think there is less pressure on Final Fantasy 15 and people will look a bit more relaxed on that game

At this moment Square Enix is developing my 2 most anticipated games of all time

im waiting since 2006 for Versus and was dreaming since 2005 for an FF7 Remake

Take my soul Square Enix

I really hope 15 turns out well, I haven't played a mainline FF entry since FFX over 10 years ago.

My body is ready.

Zack was a SOLDIER first class, I would think he could hold his own against three dudes.

Though I guess another reason he may not have performed as well is all the experiments he went through while Hojo had him and Cloud in captivity.

I was a kid when FF7 was released and English isn't my native language, so I didn't understand big parts of the story back then. So this remake will almost be a fully new adventure to me, can't wait.

What I find funny about the reaction videos is that a lot of people started freaking out when that little kid went down the slide. Seems to have been an important or easily recognizable thing in the original.

Nah, Tabata must be mad jealous right now lol. He once said he wanted to develop the best-selling FF game ever. Also Kitase noted that there is a sense of (friendly) rivalry between the various FF teams.
